The PR-24 which is what was pictured in the thumbnail is an excellent tool. Back when I was in law enforcement, I found it to be very useful. It is NOT heavy in that it only weighs 26 to 27 ounces. It has great defensive uses and can also be used for restraint. Strikes can be very controlled if done properly by someone who has had proper training with it. Your reasons for NOT carrying a baton could be used to say one should not carry a taser, stun gun, spray, or a gun.
