I have one for the face and upper body and one for the more intimate places. But you need washclothes into the groves. That nasty to take your hand and wash the crack of your boom boom. Ewe so we Blk people have been single handling support the washcloth industry.
In South Africa 🇿🇦 we call it a wash rag or waslap. When you buy someone a towel gift-set in SA, it's always packaged with two sizes of wash cloths or washrags as we call it, in addition to the bath and hand towels. When we're done showering, there are three things you'll find hung out on the washline to dry in the sun 🌞: 1. wash rag for the upper body 2. wash rag for the lower body 3. bath towel 4. panties/nickers/briefs/underpants. South Africans🇿🇦 are clean freaks. We are big on hygiene, a wash cloth is a must when taking a shower or bath.
Nah, I'm a white man and was raised using wash clothes, rags, whatever. I was raised working class poor and i didn't know about using loofahs or sponges until later in life. But i was raised that no matter how poor you are that you can keep your home and self clean and respectable.
I can’t believe she was just rubbing a bar of soap on her body. The washcloth helps scrub off any dirt or dead skin cells. I always use a washcloth. I use the loofah first and then the washcloth.
I use 3 wash clothes 1 for face, 1 for body & separate one for feet.when I use the shower puff I only use for body don’t use it between legs or on feet
White middle class American woman here. I use one every day. Airbnb'd a place outside of my home country and had to message the host to ask for "wash cloths". They didn't understand what I was asking for and eventually offered me rags they used for cleaning. I couldn't wrap my head around not understanding the concept of a cloth for cleaning one's body.
When I was in North Africa (Tunisia), they refused to give them to me at the resort hotel. They said they were only available to the spa/massage parlor 😶 I was blown away! So yea, pack a washcloth just incase they are not used in the host country you’re visiting.
I travel with my own washcloth since many hotels, especially in other countries, do not provide them. Always have to request them on cruises as washcloths are only provided upon request.
Exactly we use 4 washcloths to be exact! And never use the same clothes more then once we take them straight way to the laundry to be washed after the one time bathing. There’s a process how to use a wash cloth but we use them indeed
Before I became a nurse I was a CNA and we were trained to wash our patience with a washcloth from head to neck to torso, privates legs, and feet in that order. And as a nurse now, I can’t even imagine having a patient not be washed with a washcloth. Am I gonna go in there and wash them with my bare hands I don’t think so.
I’m white, grew up using a washcloth and at 63, I’m STILL using a washcloth! It’s not a white/black thing, it’s not a rich/poor thing, it’s a “I’ve gonna get my a$$ clean! thing!!
You took the words out of my mouth, my thoughts exactly. Come to think of it I had a boyfriend one time & he didn't use one OMG I had a Nasty Ass boyfriend ewwww..🤮 I can laugh about it now 😂
One of my shipmates(white New Englander)asked me the same thing. He told me that he used a bar of soap to get a lather thinking that was good enough, basically.
Man, let me tell you. 1. I was babysitting my "step grandson" (his mom is Venezuelan) and when it was time to bathe him I'm looking up down and to the next century for a washcloth. I finally asked him where is his washcloth and he says he doesn't have one🤨 Like how am I supposed to wash his little man parts and butt with no cloth? I kindly put that soap on HIS hand and told him to handle his business. 2. I tried the no washcloth thing for like three days and felt absolutely disgusting. I'm not saying it's wrong but when you grew up using them it feels off and nasty to not use one. Some people may argue bacterial issue with rags but idk. I needz mine.
@queenroyalty7550 There's no bacteria issue when you're supposed to be changing them every day. If you couldn't find a washcloth to bathe the child with why didn't you improvise with some old clothing rags to make your own?
Yes, we stayed at three separate places in Europe and they didn't know what we were referring to when we asked for washcloths. It's a European thing to NOT use them. I couldn't wait to get back to the US! 😅
I am European and do use two washcloths. 1 for upperbody and one for lower body. We do know what it is. Shops sell them. We call them "washand" in Dutch.
I use multiple wash cloths to clean my body. About 60 years ago, a doctor told me grandmother to use one wash cloth for the face and a separate cloth for the body. He never said don't use wash cloths. The use of a wash cloth is NOT a poor people thing, it's a hygiene thing.
The kicker really is is that plenty ppl can't afford not to buy some. They've got washcloths at the dollar sto. N technically you can use whatever material you choose if you bout it. A cut up bath towel could yield you 20 rags.😂😂😂
I was born & raised using wash cloths. Our bodies don’t need all that harsh scrubbing. I use soap and my hands (sometimes a scrubbie). I am very clean. But… I wash my important areas (creases) 3X’s 👍🏽 BTW I am NOT white. I’m light bright, but I ain’t damn near… 😢
Surprised nobody's talking about the nasty side of wash cloths. I had a roommate who would never wash his wash cloth just leave it on the shower head so I have to move it out the way. It was always wet and smelled gross. Never washed his towels and if he did, he'd forget to dry them and they would sour and stink and he'd use them that way.
@@davidb7362 The “nasty side of wash cloths”? You mean for your nasty friend. Clean people change wash cloths out daily or at least after using it twice on the body-for the am and pm baths. They also use fresh towels daily. So, your friend just had poor hygienic practices.
I was raised with washcloths. Each one in the family had a washcloth for their body, and a second one for their face. We also each had two towels; one for the body, and one for the face and hair. That's not a poor people thing....that's a CLEAN people thing!
I am a 66 y.o. white woman. As far back as l remember, my entire family uses wash cloths. The rich ones, poor ones, white ones, mixed ones. We start using them on babies. That woman was wrong, wrong, wrong.
We use wash rags (clothes) in the Caribbean. ....for the last couple of years I've switched to wash gloves - they clean even deeper and I wash them right after showering to keep them looking new. They dry much faster than the cloth as well.
Yes 1 for my face, 1 for my body 1 to dry my hands which is my "personal" hand drying towel( I have paper towels for guests) and 1 bath towel to dry my body!
White lady here. We used washcloths as a kid. I switched to the mesh scrubby thing until I learned that if you don't bleach or switch it weekly, then you are applying a ton of unhealthy bacteria. Went back to washcloths immediately. That was over 20 years ago. I love having a fresh one every day
It's the same with washcloths. You should use white washcloths & towels that you can bleach. Most people don't know that skin & bacteria get caught in the fibers, and it's very difficult to get it out of items that you can't bleach. I didn't know this until about 15 hrs ago when I read it on the CDC website. But yes, to washcloths. I faithfully use the African loofah (net material), too. I have a bunch of them, so tossing them in the wash is not a problem. I love using them for exfoliating and blood circulation.
I've never heard that in my whole entire life and I am 61 years old from white, black or any other nationality. I use wash cloths, yes to get into those spaces. How she???? Never mind.
I use washcloths and I specifically bought larger ones like you find in a nicer hotel. I have little crochet round washcloths for my face. I love the feeling of scrubbing up with a soap that makes nice lather. It’s the best!
I recall reading, (in more than one book, actually) how the indigenous people found it perplexing that the Pilgrams were not accustomed to bathing; and thought them strange when observing their bathing rituals. So actually, there is a historical precedence for this behavior; despite the fact that is largely uncommon behavior today.
I'll just say this...I've been in 5 and 5+ star hotels all over this country and on 4 other continents, and I've NEVER walked into a hotel bathroom and NOT found washcloths! They're there to be used!
You haven't lost your mind. I use washcloths everyday. As a woman, I was taught to use a washcloth at an early age. My parents and grandparents didn't play about hygiene or education.
You can do it both ways. If you are really dirty better usa the washcloth. But if you are only taking a shower the third time that day, no need for washcloth.
Right. I use a new terrycloth washcloth everyday (not the same 1) for my body and a separate one for just my face (microfiber). I also use white rags just to see the dirt come off and be sure I’m clean.
Very true!!! This is something I've noticed with my ex. I was 34 she was 48. And I explained that you can get a closer clean and exfoliate the crevices better. After that I didnt see anymore flakes of dry/dead skin on her face. I asked her what did she do to her face she told me she started using a washcloth instead of using her loofah. This video caught me by surprise. I didn't know they looked at it that way. That's crazy, but true.
I was raised to use wash cloths, but as i got older, I perfer to use loofahs and exfoliating gloves that are different color for certain areas. But as i started seeing this video going around they said that loofahs AND wash cloths can actually carry more germs depending on how well they are store and often and well they are cleaned.
For many, many years now, I've been using one exfoliating glove to wash everywhere, including face and privates. You simply wash it in between use. Never had any negative side effects.
Australians used washcloths (called flannels in several states) probably up to the 70s. Nowadays probably only a few older people would use them. In the old days washcloths probably would only be used on the face. Probably some people (women predominantly) will use washcloths nowadays to help get makeup off. Most people will use those plastic net balls to scrub themselves
@@kc6810 I wash my hands several times a day. I don't bath as many times. When shower I use a wash cloth it scrubs my body. I'm glad soap and water gets you clean.
white chick here. I used to use a washcloth for my face and one for my body in the bath/shower, and one at the sink for my face. I've recently acquired an African net sponge, and that thing is life changing, so now all washcloths are face only.
That's what my grandmother called them. Tater, tomater, and her father was a traveling school teacher in the late 1800's to early 1900's. She was born in 1905 and passed in 1993. miss my grandma.
There's a lot of people like this and it's crazy because I think or I hope once society pops into their life cuz it seem like they're dumbfounded and blankly and really be thinking that they are the ones doing stuff right Good thing with social media now cuz they can see the way you've been living and how you think is way off and it's a no-no especially with this one
...and she's nasty. Çleanliness is spiritual and physical physical, by any means necessary... clean washcloth, clean loofah, or clean African sponge. Your body is a temple...honor God with your body. 🧽🧼
You’re not losing your mind, I use a wash cloth for body and a separate one for face. It’s definitely not a poor thing, that’s a wild statement right there!!!
Wash cloths always... Actually I use two -- A general one for my body, AND one for the private parts. I can't even imagine someone not washing with a cloth! 🙄
This made me laugh.. because when I was waxing vaginas the rich Karen’s were the stinky ones.. and they had NO SHAME. Not saying others didn’t occasionally smell but the Karen’s smelled the worst One told me one time “i just came from a jog you’re in for a treat” Girl no I’m not! I’m about to put this Vicks in my mask 😵💫🤣 I’m Latina and I use washcloths too.. I did grow up poor and they say washcloths are a “poor” thing but I don’t even care lol I feel clean . Loofahs harbor bacteria and just washing with your hand doesn’t do anything so that’s fine I’ll be poor and clean 😂
It has nothing to do with color. Many people don't use a wash cloth on their face because cosmetic companies say not too. I'm white and I wouldn't know what to do without a wash cloth. One for my face and one for my body . A lot of people use a cloth glove.
Yes it is and to think your booty and coochie is clean from just rinsing it of with soap is just nasty 😩. I know what I never would be doing with a person who don't wash between there legs.
You use a cloth to clean your kitchen, your car, your bathroom, your desk at work.....pretty much everything. How some people think you don't need one to clean yourself is beyond me.
@@amygresl3691yes ma'am, that's the best way to blast all the oils, sweat, and XYZ off is with detachable shower head but even if you don't have that option - 💯 washcloth! Maybe they don't understand the concept of using it once and then washing in the machine 🤷🏻♀️..that may be the ideology behind it that they don't understand and the more I think about it the more it sounds like people I know who think a bar of soap 🧼 is self sanitizing. Spoiled ignorance? 🤷🏻♀️ Sounds about right 😆 oh well, F 'em let them get their UTI and yeast infections and then wonder how it happened! 😂
I use what I just call a rag to clean all that stuff. Washcloth is for the body, only. Wouldn't want to wash myself with a rag that I've cleaned something else with.
White, 63 year old, woman here and I am newish to the world of washcloths. Five or six years ago I was in the hospital and when it came time for me to shower my nurse handed me a washcloth and I gave it a try. What a world of difference it made!!! I felt cleaner, it was faster and I’ve used washcloths ever since!!! I’m a total convert!!!
Lmbao ''Hey'' bro yeah you right that's what it means filthy rich she will use a cloth to wipe the table but won't use it to wipe that dirty tail wow wee wow wee umm,umm,umm....
They say that even after washing them there is still bacteria (ecoli = fecal matter) left on them. Still, I think I'll continue taking my chances with them. 🤷🏾♀️🤭
They way grandma taught me: One washcloth per shower. Shampoo and rinse hair. Condition hair and leave in. Wash face, ears and neck. Rinse hair, face, ears and neck. Wash arms, hands, chest, stomach, upper and lower back. Wash private area. Wash upper and lower legs then feet. Wash rear-end. Btw. We was poor and she hand washed our cloths for many years. Fed us mostly from the garden and had a stock pile of food she jarred. She raised her five sons and two daughters and myself on very little income. We'll, they all helped raise me but grandma was the foundation and strength of the family. Strongest woman I've ever met.
You have not lost your mind. My whole family uses washcloths 😊 when I worked in the nursing homes and would wash the white residents. They thought I was crazy for using washcloths to bathe them.
I’m white and I use a wash cloth (I grew up middle class until about the late 90s and currently am poor so idk if that’s supposed to prove or disprove anything) I have also used the plastic scrubbers, loofas and more recently I use like a jute or sisal soap saver. I was taught that using just soap doesn’t exfoliate and it’s important to scrub the dead skin off, but not in a harsh way. I thought everyone held the same beliefs on that…. 🤷♀️
When you don’t see yourself as needing to be cleaned. When you still see the white on your skin when you’re in the shower. You are disillusioned in believing the grime is not there!
I sure do, sis. I quit using a loofah because i still felt dirty after i finished using it. Plus, my pits still didn't smell fresh, and they were too rough for my private part.
I agree - I have these rough washcloths that get all the dry dead skin - exfoliate- off my body. The friend needs to know when she ages, exfoliating is a must or her skin will look awful. 🤷🏼♀️
I’m Nigerians and I did not grow up using a wash cloth. I grew up using and still use an African sponge. Some may know it. It looks a fish net. That 1 sponge is used to wash the whole body. Believe me when I tell you that sponge cleans my body better than any Logan, or wash cloth. Every person and culture is different.
Yes, use a hot, wet washcloth to clean those hot spots, nooks and crannies. Have a different set of washcloths for the face. When washing those use an eco-friendly, detergent sheet. Wash the body wash cloths with detergent sheets as well and bleach. I find that the detergent sheets work best as they usually have enzymes. They are also better for the landfill and save on space. 🎉
I use 2️⃣ one for face other for body but I’m loving the African nets nowadays for body, it gets like residue from oils and creams I use on my skin and exfoliates at the same time. I feel softer after use
White woman here, oldish, not poor/not rich. I ALWAYS USE A WASHCLOTH! I’m astonished anyone would try to imply a class distinction over this. WHO DOESNT USE A WASHCLOTH? For pity’s sake…!
Majority white folks don’t use wash clothes I seen a whole thing on this of white people admitting they don’t. Some don’t even use soap and just let the water hit them and think that’s clean 😅🤷🏽♂️
Oddly enough a lot of white ppl don’t. If you’re so astonished just look it up on RU-vid, you guys glorify that and not brushing your tongue. I also learned in nursing older white ppl don’t wipe their asses either after using the toilet.
Yes I use a wash cloth and I believe it enables me to get cleaner. But there have been times where there was no wash cloth available and I just had to lather up then rinse off. You can get clean either way unless you are having an extraordinary hygiene issue.❤
Hey,, a female Mexican here, and I've always been taught to use washcloths,, one for the face ears and neck and another for the body,, and people think im crazy but another for my feet 😂
And that's why we as black folks age gracefully, in my opinion. Cause a washcloth exfoliates and removes not only dirt, grime and oils. But also the dead skin that sheds.
And that's why we the poor white folks age gracefully as well. Not because of genes or the certain country our ancestors came from no no. But because of a washcloth, it exfoliates, removes the dead and dirty skin which turned brown from a hard days work out in the fields. Here's to washclothes, why else were they invented.
Do you use a washcloth when you wash your hands every day? ... 😅. First you wash your hands in the shower and then wash your body, you also learn how to do self exams😮 and can find out something is wrong sooner than later! ...❤❤❤
@Kingjimmy181 I personally don't shower with just my hands but there are a million options other than hands and washcloth and people really will argue it's unclean to choose one of the other million showering options its wild to me
@@vondacookIt is a personal preference “thing” and nothing “disgusting about it! Some people are highly sensitive to soap, cannot use soap, but need to use specific prescriptive cleansers. Is that disgusting?? I wash my hands multiple times a day and have never used a washcloth for that. Is that disgusting?? Many people prefer of use loofas or brushes. Is that disgusting?? I also like to use a non-disposable nylon bristle surgical scrub brush. Is that disgusting?? Personal Preferences to Achieve the Same Cleanliness.
I’m a white woman and just for the last couple of years I use a washcloth. I think you can wash and exfoliate at the same time. I still use a scrub occasionally but use a washcloth for every day.
