Don Byas - what a sound, what ideas!!! And frankly, pity the other sax player who has to follow great Don, he might be a fair player in his own backyard but here he's superfluous.

The club was near a yacht harbor and Byas' hobby was swimming and especially diving. He often came directly from diving to the club to play and after playing a set or two he went straight back to the strand for swimming or diving. I do not remember anymore but either Brigitte Bardot was a (co)-owner of the club (in Saint Tropez?) or a frequent visitor. At least this is what they wrote on the liner notes of a cd I once own(ed) .
