My wife informed me last night in bed as we were about to go to sleep. I was so disturbed I couldn't go to sleep. I really looked up to this man, being the 1st Black person to own his own show of this type and make us feel as Black people that we could be Black & proud & see our people stars & regular young people portrayed in a positive light. He didn't let disrespectful music on stage either and made me feel good to young, Black and alive! He will be terribly missed. God bless his family!

I'm from England and I'll never forget when my father returned from the U.S. he bought with him a Soul Train album. I was a kid and that was my introduction to 'soul' music. I had no idea who Marvin Gaye or Barry White or Brenda and the Tabulations were until I listened to that album (over and over). I eventually moved to the U.S. and Soul Train became part of my Saturday routine. Some of the better memories of my youth. Rest in "love, peace, and soul" Don.

I have never believed a person needed to apologize for their race. Don Cornelius didn't care what colour you were. We are all people who love funk and that is all. Love to Don's family and friends. He will be greatly missed. He was part of my teen years. :(
@xavierparedez8725
@xavierparedez8725 Год назад
Idk if it's about apologizing, it's about respecting that some races struggles in America are a bit more gritty. Like, respect goes a long way. Understanding what pressure this music was built under is a part of the culture and soul is black culture.

Let me just add, " I use to love hearing him say, " It's gone be a stone cold gas." lol He had the smoothest voice ever. Everywhere you look you will always see a " soul train line " at a reunion, wedding or party because Soul Train was the first to bring it to us. My favorite part of the show was watching people go down the soul train line. You couldn't wait to see the lil soul train just chuggin' along to good beats and music. We've lost a trailblazer and it will never be another D.Corenelius.

Deus o abençôe senhor Cornelius. O senhor fez mais que muitos. Apenas usando a benção da música o senhor derrubou muitos murros e paredes. Murros de preconceitos. Fez unir homens e mulheres, que as paredes do preconceito racismo separava. Vamos sentir muito sua falta. Lá onde estiver que Deus e s anjos o ampare. Eté um dia.

I drove to the window and there was a 16 yr old, young man with my order. I told him " You Sound Just Like Don Cornelius" He Just Smiled And Said Thank You.
