Don Giovanni - "Don Ottavio, son morta!...Or sai, chi l'onore" Donna Anna: Marina Rebeka Wiener Staatsoper - 2015 Production: Jean-Louis Martinoty Conductor: Adam Fischer
Her voice and her technique is quite reminiscent of the great Edda Moser who was one of the great singers of the 20th century. Let us hope that Rebeka will last as long as it is splendid to hear Donna Anna sung with such ferocity yet such muscality.
Not in 100 years = Mosers voice has been bigger & real German Klang with real special qualities ! Rebeka is much more an small leggiero without real timbre: she has this eclectic sound without the needed base
The conducting is woeful, totally misses all the drama. He needs to listen to Guilini´s recording to hear what a real conductor can do with this opera.
@@paullewis2413 , that's what i have written, i agree totally. The conductor seems to believe that this piece of music is a requiem. All the excitement is dead.
Sir Larselot in defense of the poor conductor. This is not a premier Opera House in Europe my friends. Marina should stick to Mozart Verdi light roles as well as Puccini. She could be the next Kiri TEKANAWA . Still needs some work on this pure LYRIC VOICE. Arnold Bourbon Amaral 🌿🌎🌏🌍🌹👴
@@arnoldamaral7406 : you're joking, my friend. The Wiener Staatsoper is next to La Scala, Covent Garden and Opéra Bastille and Garnier in Paris the leading Opera House in Europe and one of the most important ones in the world for sure. No doubts available. But i agree about Mrs. Rebeka. When i´ve listened her "Coppia iniqua" on her last recording "Spirito" i was not relaxed in some forced moments. A powerful lyric voice doesn't mean it is a dramatic one. Its the same with the young Caballé.
Her voice is an real light Leggiero Soprano and she has to sing Zerlina, Füchschen, Gretel, etc. but not Donna Anna - this is not good, its not secure, its pushed, but she is not spinnt or even an full or dramatic coloratura.....
If you think this a a light leggiero soprano voice then you know nothing about the soprano voice. As I say above she is quite reminiscent of Edda Moser who was one of the greatest dramatic coloraturas of the 20 th Century.
Yet again another singer who is not able to sing this. Mozart destroys her in 2 seconds. Why even sing this. She is neither technically nor vocally able to sing that, and will never be. The singing is constantly in the throat, there is no flow, flat all the time, fake legato and no support - that is why she has all those problems. Plus i think she is somewhere between a mezzo soprano and a dramatic soprano. (could be also spinto) Also she cannot sing recitativi, which is always in the middle register! She was a potential, but decided to throw it out of the window. To summen up: Dreadfull singing.
@@terrycloth6380 Really, and what do you think of her technique? I would really like to know? Because 0:08 sounds like she sings recitativ for the first time in her live. 0:16 - What is that?!? 0:32?!?! That is how mezzo sopranos sing high notes. (except hers are not supported) But really tell me what you think, and please explain it on real opera terms and rules.
