Not a damn thing. Im reading all the comments and yours was another one that stuck outhere after listening to the whole discussion. He might want to stay away from intellectuals! Whoa!
Up to a 'point' (haha) but don't forget, he is on MSM in a large way. Most people that watch Don, don't even know who Sam is, Sam functions in a much different world. I think people are a bit harsh on Lemon in these comments, yes he is not in intellectual orb Sam is, but few are.
That IS THE JOB. He's supposed to be able to channel every type of curious ignorant viewer possible, like Joe Rogan or Barb Walters or Oprah alike, and be the conduit by which a retired laborer or busy mom or precocious ten year old watching are able to have a discussion with Sam Harris who otherwise would only speak to more intelligent people like Don Lemon he talks with before the interview to know what sort of softballs Sam would like Lemon to throw to get to the right topics to discuss. What a pro!!! So genius he threw it buy you like Bob Gibson would.
I hope I’m not just seeing the comments the algorithm wants me to see, but the comment section is positive towards Harris and critical towards Lemon 9/10 times. And this is on Lemon’s channel!
I was surprised by that too. I actually had to go look and make sure I was on his channel. I can understand some of the comments, but some of them feel a bit too harsh. 😬
Harris shows a lot of patience in this discussion. At times, Lemon actually is a distraction to Harris' attempts to go deep. Lemon needs to know when to shut up and listen and allow the people he interviews to finish their thoughts instead of interrupting mid-sentence only to demonstrate he does not understand the idea that is trying to be explored.
He really just can’t get deep. I don’t know if his attention span is that short, he’s naturally uncurious, or he’s just still in the mindset of having to wrap up thoughts for a commercial break. Either way, it’s frustrating to watch when topics really need to be delved into deeper.
I also noticed that he is not literate of whats going on. He lives in his liberal bubble , everybody around him is completely just like him. He did not read Kendi . WTF he's a fraud!
Lemon never listens. He is always waiting to get his next piece in, that is why is doesn't evolve. He would be perfect for trash like The View that is where he is mentally. He always thinks he is destroying people in debates too.
As a 64 year old black man in the hood of chicago !… Sam does acknowledge that black people have been dealt a horrible hand . I think Sam’s question is what are we going to do with the hand we’ve been dealt,, because black people have a very very serious problem that must be dealt with immediately , but sam must be careful how he says it. And Sam’s not wrong about this. Don’s questions to sam are legit , but to Sam they lack the urgency to solve the problem , and I do agree with sam on this. I can understand how Sam might be under the impression that lots of black aren’t truly focused on the deeper issues in our communities because Don doesn’t approach the subject. But I’m not sure if sam understands the percentage of black people that agrees with him. I think what might get us on a better path to solving the problem is when black leaders speak about inherent racism, redlining, reparations and issues involving the subject,, that we must also speak about the problems we have among ourselves as black people . We must not let the hand we’ve been dealt turn us into monsters. Don will pay a price for acknowledging to his people that we have a serious problem within our community, but it’s a price that must be paid. M. L. K paid the price, but times are changing and today it could mean political suicide or getting canceled. It’s evident that many white people and other races will March and fight with us , but don’t expect them come join us on 69th and Ashland or in the projects,, can you blame them ?
I think that problems in my life have come from both outside influences and from things I've done to myself. If I want to improve my life, I need to address both influences.

First, Don Lemon "corrects" his guest, Sam Harris, to not use the term "Reverse racism" and then later in the interview, Don Lemon uses that same term to describe the same thing Mr. Harris was discussing. HUH? Yes, I understand one man is Black and one is White and consequently, a different understanding of that term. Yet, simply because someone is Black does not diminish his White counterpart's opinion. I agree with other comments that Don Lemon continues to interrupt his guest.
there's "referring" to it as clamor that gets classified that way, and then there's actually putting credence in it as a legitimate concept or one so weighty as to be akin to racism's power. there's stuff we can call reverse-racism, but we can't believe there is a revers of racism called reverse-racism that is also a type of racism or anything equivalent to it. Racism flows in one direction and describes a permanent dimunition of power by classification by racial appearance. "reverse racism" is a laughably insignificant cause for petulant racists lurking in bushes to jump out and scream when they get the opportunity to do so, nothing more. Racism against minorities hurts minorities and whites both. Reverse-racism is just an optical illusion mirage we sometimes see and make little videos about and has no negative impact on whites or minorities except as further inciting anti-minority racism.
@@exprezzion Thank you for clarifying the term "reverse racism" and putting it into context. It's so amazing to see individuals like Don Lemon continuing their usual path and call everyone -ists and -phobes whole days long. What an intellectual lightweight.
Its so amazing to see characters with such a mesmerizing voice hypnotize so many into believing every misleading, uninformed thing he says. Harris is not an expert in the history of antiblack racism and he hasnt read Ibram Kendi's work. And he outright lies about the ideas without addressing the actual argumments. Harris is as racist as they come cloaked in misusing his academic credentials.
Did Kendi look back and use any of that money to build anything in the black community! Did he do anything to educate children on how to succeed instead of robbing them of their ambition by pushing the victimhood narrative on them. That’s sad. It’s one thing to remember history and teach it but to force young people to adopt it as their burden is sad.
You can say that about a few other people too. When you single out one person, you’re doing a disservice to the larger issue. There are good and bad actors. What have you done?
@@emiliog.4432 It is very convenient for bigots to single out a lone "wrong" voice. How in the world does Sam Harris equate the Equality cry of Kendi to the Supremacist cry of Rubin?? Second half of this is straight up frustrating as Lemon constantly tells Sam not to talk over him, then instantly does that himself when Sam tries to finish a sentence.
Don Lemon lives in an alternate universe that only exists in his head. The crazy thing is that universe includes him being a multi-millionaire, incredibly privileged and rewarded for being less than mediocre at his supposed profession. He embodies so much of the American left.

Also - I’m an Iranian Jew from Russia (Dagestan) and I have a bit of a unique perspective. Our region was colonized by Russia and many of our cultures entirely stripped, not to mention the genocides of the Chechen and Circassian people at the hands of Imperial Russia, the Soviet Union, and the Russian Federation - so I’m entirely on board with the concept that colonization and orientalism have caused a lot of damage. However - what I don’t see from the western left is acknowledgement that Russia has engaged in colonialism, arguably one of the biggest colonizers in the world (how do you think it got so big) and no acknowledgement from the left as to the influence of the Islamic Republic in Iran that has been essentially the exporting its fundamentalism throughout the region via its proxies. The western left always points to itself as the start and end of all evil, but will never admit to Islamic colonialism or Russian colonialism. When I say Islamic, I mean in the fundamentalist sense as my region is majority Muslim and everyday Muslims are always the first victims to extremist ideology and bear the brunt of the worst forms of its fundamentalism. I am married to an Iraqi Israeli whose family were made refugees and had nowhere else to go. It’s something I fully do not understand - why can’t the western left, which I consider myself a part of, admit to the evils of Middle Eastern and Eastern European nations?
Because as Sam pointed out, if the objects of their ire does not fit nearly into a white skinned vs. brown skinned, Western European Imperial Capitalist Colonizer vs. poor, peaceful, oppressed brown (black) skinned victim narrative, the Western Left (particularly in the US) simply doesn't care.
The leader of the American left Joe Biden is currently the only one here fighting against Russian imperialism. And it's the American RIGHT lead by Trump and his cult who say they would like to help Putin colonize Ukraine and even Europe! We must adapt to this new reality.

Don Lemon is so absurdly obtuse. When faced with unarguable truth he just obfuscates. He never seemed overly bright to me, but this interview revealed his lack of depth and intellectual honesty. When was the last time anyone heard him say an original thought that had weight? Not sure I have ever heard it.
I don't understand why everyone is hating on Don so much in this comment. It was a civil discussion in which he asked good questions, challenged Sam and allowed him to make a good case for his claims. Besides, Don come across as more open minded and less woke than what he would let on while he was on CNN.

DON LEMON this is the BEST SAM HARRIS INTERVIEW and I watch every interview with Sam that I can find. Thank you both for the depth and breadth of this conversation on our hardest social and political issues.
I don''t know why there is so much hate directed at Don. He kept the conversation civil and I think moved it along well enough. That is not to say that Sam Harris would be uncivil in any other interview. Lemon asked intelligent questions that were within Harris's expertise(whether you agree with him or not). I think he did a decent job of presenting a counter arguement to some of the points that were more controversial, without getting argumentative. Similarly, I think Harris can be complicated for how well he expreassed his ideas and kept his composure. I suppose you could criticize him for disagreeing with some of Harris's positions, but that's a poor basis to criticise him unless you are going to point out what arguments you disagree with. I think that would make these comments more constructive.

Misinterpret the clarification of your nonsense and interrupt again with some more nonsense. 4. Interrupt any further clarification. I have no problem with people thinking differently than me, or supporting different policies, we're just sick of the people who lie & deceive. & to be fair, I should mention, I have noticed that CNN has been much better lately compared to before. & the fact that they have made adjustments, along with some others, shows you that the people who despise Don, Cuomo ,CNN, etc, they are the majority of Americans now that feel that way, not all on the right, some center, & some on the left too.
@@lynettes9533 very VERY well said! MSM, in most cases, want you emotionally involved because it's easier to keep your attention. They know exactly how to get an emotional response out of their watchers and they've exploited that for far too long. Don Lemon and Chris Cuomo were 2 or the puppets used to illicit those responses from the people an get them all worked up over issues that we don't even witness in our day to day lives! I sometimes tell people that if you'd turn off your social media and new feeds for a day you'd notice that so many of the issues you thought were giant in the U.S. are actually very rare, ie: black vs white, gay vs straight, man vs woman etc.
Love Sam. His ability to remain principled in an environment of deranging crosswinds is highly admirable. Thank you for sharing this conversation, Don. Love from the southern hemipsher ❤
I'm not an American, but I see many black Americans (and even other non-white Americans) complaining about the fact that they have to make their names "white-sounding" in order to even be considered for a job. I also saw some documentaries on this. They also complain about the difficulties they face at the workplace and how they're looked at as diversity hires and the many other issues they deal with. Yet Sam is saying companies are EAGER to hire black employees. I don't know who's telling the truth.
It’s both. Most of corporate America had put DEI initiatives in place and made a focus to hire women and/or minorities at a larger degree. That said, there is documented evidence via academic studies that applicants without white sounding names are rejected at a higher rate. Those studies though were done before the call it last 5 years focus on DEI initiatives. And, after some legal decisions in late 2023, a lot of those DEI initiatives now face legal challenges and the EEOC has come out and said it is basically illegal to consider race/gender etc… Idk if what I’ve said is helpful context, but a holistic view would get you to the reality that race and racism remains incredibly complex and not something you can distill to single sentence or whether it “is” or “isn’t” a pervasive issue or to what degree we have or haven’t addressed/improved these issues.
To further drive this home, you can compare/contrast writings on the topic. You can read one end of the spectrum with books like White Fragility, How to be an Anti Racist, etc…and then the rebukes to those claims with books like Woke Racism and The End of Race Politics. I’ve done that (and read other books too) and conclude that the truth lies somewhere in the middle of the claims made in those books.
Companies are eager to hire more diversely because now they lose money otherwise. If they had their way, they wouldn’t be hiring diverse voices at all.
46:00 - Don recognises Grifters on the right (for what it’s worth I agree that Dave Rubin is a grifter) yet he thinks everyone on the left who goes too far is just a misguided idealist?
I cant stand how Sam refuses to bring up race and IQ unless he is specific circumstances. We have to shove the truth in their face every day no matter what.
I was never gave much thought to the left or right but I agree with Sam the woke culture has made me turn more to the right as I’m fed up of them pushing there agenda.
