Watching you fish my old backyard in the foothills makes me remember I got started bass fishing there. Now in Texas I am so spoiled, like you are on the delta and elsewhere. So far I have caught a lot of "giants" here and surpassed my California best by over four pound with a 12.4 pounder I got out of a private little lake I have access too. Never get enough of catching bass and always question my sanity when I say "one more" and that lasts for a few hours more!
McClure and Don Pedro are my home lakes! Super tough fishing but that’s what makes it a challenge to catch the big ones off the bank! Another awesome video!
This is a perfect example on why you don't stick fish the day before the tourney especially if you know it's gonna be a tough bite. I know you do it for content but it's ok to teach people not to stick fish the day before. Shake them off. Love the videos. Better luck on the next one. Everyday on the water is a lesson with you and your honesty.
Always enjoy your videos Brother!! I'm a friend of Chad Hoover's.. I noticed he commented to you on one of your older videos when you were in his KBF tournament day 1..wasn't sure if you saw it. Keep Rockin buddy! 👊💪~FAB~
I like when you put the pre-fishing and tournament all in one video! These recent lakes look so tough. I have a lot of luck with trickworms on shakey heads, and ned rigs in the spotted bass lakes in my area.
So glad you fished this place so that now I know I don’t have to! Don Pedro...no thanks. It’s amazing that even when it’s garbage fishing, I still watch all the way to the end because G-unit makes such great vids. Keep it up!!
Hey Greg, I, and I think others as well, would love a video about how you deal with boating traffic while kayak fishing. I’m from SoCal and all we have is boating traffic and lots of pressure. Would really appreciate it. Great video as always, thanks!
When it gets tough. And I see Man it was tough. I believe because of the heat. It might not hurt Too try Your favorite plastic worm Carolina rigged? There is cooler weather coming. Thanks for taking us along.
Always enjoy your vids! Truly a tough weekend! Been there before seeing fish on the graph, but can't make them bite! That place is a zoo in the summer! Wish you better luck next time, Greg!
Had the same experience of graphing tons of fish at Berryessa and wishing I had an Aqua view. Had a tough time trying to get them to bite also. Some schools were crappie and squawfish, but a lot of the marks were bass. Don Pedro looked zooey with sooo many boats and folks.
I feel your pain. I was fishing Lake Mohave a few days back -- similar rocky structure, a little hotter weather and water -- and everything I could see was 10' or shallower, most right up on the bank like yours, which surprised me since the shallow water was so warm. I presume they were chasing bluegill but I couldn't get them to bite anything, even a ned rig which NEVER fails.
McClure and Don Pedro are the same during the summer,it requires you to fish 40ft down with a jig and makes it extremely hard, they are also pushed up right on the bank sometimes.
It was a tough for sure! My buddy and I were in the slay nation tournament there the same day as you guys. We got lucky and got 5 board fish! With a nice 20 incher! It was tough though!! Everything we got was 15 ft or deeper!
Tough like my last event of the year man I feel that. I only caught 2 at our last event on Ray Roberts. Complete beat down. It happens. It was so bad for everyone that only 2 people managed a limit. You’ll get them at the next one. I hear there was a BOS event on the Delta recently....
Loving it bud it’s the dog days right now I caught 6 bass this morning biggest was close to 2 ib spot my fishing buddy caught skunk 🦨 it’s gonna get right real soon though we need cooler water but keep up the hard work loved that grey t shirt you had on with the GYO I still have the first merch I bought long sleeve one awesome shirt
Greg what is your favorite knot for tying on your lures? Love watching you I learn so much but I fish in Indiana having a hard time, my first year kayaking but I'm in love with it. 🙂🐸
if its anything like the clear water lakes around here those largemouth will Wolfpack and cruise the shallow banks in search of bream. might wana try throwing a prop bait all day and cover a lot of water! and look for bream beds.
With the conditions like that with big cruisers up shallow I would’ve tried a Ned rig Trd since they’re cruising shallow and looking for something quick to eat and for the schooled up deep fish the giant trd ned rig would’ve probably gotten em on the fall nonetheless great vid !
Such a great channel. I like the style you shoot. I feel like we’re along for the trip. We stop at the gas station get ice, get some food, camp, and then fish. Great to get the whole experience! Question, do you change, upgrade your hooks or split rings on the Berkley popper you throw?
Did any one try some crawfish looking bait's also noticed some big Bass shallow and could not get them to biteand thought it was unusual this time of year and they looked fat!thanks for the videos
Greg, we are watching more and more, Like dig your vibe. Now about your catch net. I am starting my career in tourney fishing and don't have a net. Yours seems really cool. Where did you get it?
That ramp is the worst to launch from for bass if you don't have a boat to travel 5 miles. Try launching at the Moccasin ramp or shore launch at Tanaka point or the end of Shawmut mine rd. Even I can catch fish on that side of the lake.
The drop shot can only take you so far Greg but overall thanks for sharing always enjoy watching your videos. I’m wondering if what you dealt with on that day was the extreme weather causing the fish to go way deeper than normal.. that and the fact there was so much other traffic on the water. I was out in the Delta on Saturday and 108° weather I didn’t feel it towards maybe to 3 o’clock but a lot of the fish that I was catching out there we’re on drop shot in Synkeos. But even out there they were in deep water. Good luck to you man I look forward to seeing more of your videos
Greg Blanchard oh hell yeah no wonder everyone out there on sugar barge were asking me how many did I catch? Everyone thought i was competing also. Haha I should of. I caught like 11 of em all kinda of different sizes. Hope to see you out there on day. Take care man tight lines.
Hey bro I fish that lake often on yaks too, C rig on a zoom baby brush hog watermelon seed, at sunrise and before suh set I try to fish on the inside if marinas
When you showed that small shad?!! All I kept saying was I hope he throws a flicker shad. If it needed to be deep? 1/4oz weight 4ft up the line... but yeah a 3.3" keitech w/ Owner underspin..... Money!!!!
Hey Greg, I see that you’re using a Dobyns Fury now for your cranking rod.. was wondering what you think of the rod overall so far? Sensitivity, stiffness, action, etc. I am looking into their whole lineup to build my rod arsenal, but have heard a few people mention them not being sensitive. Just thought I’d ask your thoughts. Great video again! As always!
Nice...im going camping at don pedro next weekend and ofcourse I'm bringing my boat...hopefully I get into them as it will be my first time there. Any tips on what part of the lake or depth they are currently at?
I was wondering what your reasoning behind the yellow braid is? Ive been looking into switching my spinning reels over to braid and I'm wondering what color to go with. Ive seen conflicting information as to which colors are more visible in the water.
With the water level dropping it leaves alot of crawdads high and dry and their making their way back to the water and the bass are siting super shallow waitng
I’ll tell you 2 things for those crusing bank fish and it’s a plus if there are rocks.. throw a 1-3ft squarebill parallel with the bank. Cast litterally 4in-1ft away from bank and work it🤘lmk how you do
Just curious but I know you said before you move a lot. If you were to guesstimate how much time did you spend moving around this tournament ? Those mother lode lakes can be brutal and many times you have to weed through a lot of little ones just to get one keeper. Sorry the bite was not on for you but chalk it up to experience and you will get em next time. Tight Lines!
Love all your videos. I live in Bryan, College Station Texas & have our club tournament ( The Classic ) on Houston County Lake. I went last Thursday & it was sooo hot, 100 by the time I got off water. You ever fished there?
This time of the year most bigger fish are deep. Surface temp in high 80s. They don't like that. Can't fish deep lake like summer Delta. Even Clear Lake holds them down at 20-30 feet with late summer heat.
thats not always the case. especially in lakes that are nutrient poor and clear. the better sized largemouth will wolf pack and cruise the shallows eating bream. they have too look harder to find food so they just cruise the banks for long distances in search. I think that is what he was experiencing. when that is happening you have to cover an insane amount of water.
@@skoli55 yes it gets tough later in the day...not much shade on those lakes after the sun gets up. luckily around here we can run shade lines which helps. but you can catch them in the heat of the day shallow. its not a technique where you are going to get a lot of bites but you will catch the right ones. prop bait and a senko . look up tater hog baits also. the angry gill is a good one to catch some giants. Its a top water bream Glide bait. One of my buddies here makes them.
At 26:01 you put your dropshot rig away. How do you store it when traveling? I'm SO tired of mine being a mess when I pull it out of the rod holder. Been trying to come up with a method but nothing works worth a dang so far. Thanks!
