How is it possible that this video has been viewed thousands of times yet received just a handful of comments? One of the all time greatest guitarist ever. Insanely gifted. Unique in ever possible way. Stunningly awesome attack and technique. I've played guitar since i was 14. I'm 74 now and have followed every major acoustic guitarist and Don is in the top 5 IMHO; Paco, Hedges, Dawes and Kottke are the other four.
Nich to see u mention Dawes❤ I am only in my 30s and think there always were great acoustic players. John Renbourn , Grossman, all these 70s pickers. Tommy Emmanuel. But modern generation totally put their own stamp. Percussion style, and incredible Rhythm, the use of flageoletts. If u dont know I recommend Thomas Leeb and Jon Gomm. Oh and Antoine Dufour is also in my "modern" top 5 for sure along Dawes, Don, Calum Graham. Fact, Don played with a lot of younger dudes. He was playing with McKee in his beginning, also had supported Jimmy Wahlsteen (who seemed gave up on his solo career) and had a great duo album with Calum Graham. Don did so much for modern acoustic guitar, like rarely anyone else
