@@manuelper Bit of a wierd bar to set, this guy can play memorable drum lines from classic songs and not only that, but often make them sound better. But you'd only consider him the best if he had a potentially lower skill level but also be lucky enough to be involved in a group that just happens to make an iconic track?
@@donmongoose Writing original drum lines instead of building upon drum lines is not the same. He should get out there, join a band, make some music with other musicians and see what comes out. It's not all luck. Look, the guy technically is a beast, there's no denying it. To be iconic, you have to compose iconic and long lasting music.
@@manuelper I don't know the guy well, but fairly certain he was in a band so probably wrote some drum lines himself. Maybe they were solid, maybe they weren't, my point was the fact neither of us know doesn't reaally have any baring on whether he's the best drummer. Popularity doesn't equal best, at least not to me. I rate technical ability PLUS technical innovation ontop of that and this guy displays that.
is writing iconic drum parts anymore because rock music is dead. Whats the last ic9nic drum part?? Estepario understands nobody liste s to rock amd that he has a better chance of making his mark on the world through youtube videos.
I played drums when I was a teenager. Its been a few decades. Regardless this dude is nuts!! He's a beast. From what I remember he practiced or still practices like 6 to 8 hrs a day for yrs. Dude is a machine!!
You might need a little more practice with the pronunciation 😂 but it is very hard to say 😂 His real name is Jorge and he is from Spain. Check out his one million subscribers for more on his backstory, it is an amazing one. I am not a musician but I have watched a few drummers react to him and then feel like they should be selling their kits 😂 so he clearly is doing something special. He just oozes talent and charisma ❤✌
He is from Spain, and he just came to Vancouver to do a Drumeo man on the street session to teach people drums for a chance at winning a new drum kit. Can you believe if you came across this incredible drummer and he asked you to play on his kit? I would fucking die, I would be smiling too hard to listen to any instruction lol. If you want to check it out, random people off the street could compete to win a drum set. "People are vibing": Vancouverites compete to win cash in street drumming challenge
To bring it back to free styling, one thing you may have noticed is Harry Mack has a good understanding of rhythmic phrasing. This comes from studying rhythm. You should consider going to a drum teacher and ask for lessons on rhythmic phrasing. You can also internalize some of these rhythms by watching or listening to improvisational music like jazz or the rhythm-dominated style of drum corps (marching band) drum lines. You’ll get a lot of good ideas on how different rhythms/rhythmic phrases fit over the beat. If you can “sing” the rhythms they’re playing with the music, you’ll be able to come up with interesting new freestyle cadences
You really need to get a drummer to react with you for this guy because he does some extremely difficult things effortlessly. Like in this video he does the hand cup rim tap over and over without hitting the drum head. I saw a professional drummer react to this and he went on for like 5 to m minutes just on that one aspect of the video lol
This guy is a drum machine. Drummers are great because they can play 2 or even 3 different beats at one time. This guys doing 5! With only 2 arms and 2 legs. That’s 4 beats +1. And timing the beats perfectly. How?
I totally agree with Don pointing out how hard is to do 4 different patterns with arms and feet ...the amount of brain skill is insane and I always think "drums not only helped HMack with the flows switches and the technique but also with training the brain to do 4+ stuff simultaneously bringing his freestyle to the next lvl"
The Siberian Steppes, né Jorge, is in a class of his own. There are loads of drummers who react to him. My favorite reaction being a drummer who said, "I need to smoke more weed." Jorge was smoking a hand rolled in the vid.
For Don's keyboard journey: Don't do it alone - find an organized course that meets your (reasonable) needs and expectations. Stumbling around in the dark will be far more frustrating, and waste a lot of time, assuming you don't just quit. Learning will always be hard, but at least you'll be on a proper path, with a proper guide. Also, get a music production program that will allow you to build basic songs with drums, keyboards, samples, etc, so that as you learn the very basic (and often unsatisfying) beginner stuff, you can use it to create more satisfying musical ideas, and to apply the things you're learning in ways that are meaningful to you. Mary Had A Little Lamb is tough to get excited about, and can lead to a loss of interest. But that's where it all starts. Work to turn it into something cooler. As a self-taught guitar player I'm going back and teaching myself the basics, and filling in all my gaps in music theory, etc. It's very satisfying to finally understand everything that I used to just be guessing and assuming about. I made a lot of easily avoidable mistakes over the years, and spent a lot more time getting to where I got than I needed to. You're starting from scratch, and it's a tall mountain to climb. But keyboards are something you'll be able to enjoy and grow with for decades. Good luck.
I've been drumming 30 years, I'm OK. I have studied drumming and drummers from different eras, from around the world, there is no one like him. I personally know a couple of really great famous drummers, they will tell you the same thing, he is the best drummer we have ever seen.
hes from Spain, 27, and self taught. he cant read music. he uses each limb doing different beats. he practices at least 8 hours a day. for 15 years. any time he plays u see him relaxed. happy, enjoying what he does. im no drummer. but i watch reviews from pros, form teachers. and they say hes reinventing drumming. i just love what he does. he has over 3 millon subs. hes so gifted...
Great reaction! So, I’m going to try to expand on what homie in the white was saying and hopefully shed some light on the complexity for BP. So in that Weeknd cover, when Este is using 2 sticks in his right hand, he’s hitting 16th notes on that cymbal. But also he’s hitting 8th notes with his right foot but using the Dualist pedal so he’s actually creating a 16th note pattern that perfectly follows his right hand. Then with his left hand he’s adding a ghost note groove and backbeat on his snare drum and a little on the hi-hat… and thennnn his left foot is on the hi-hat pedal (which opens and close the hi-hat cymbals) and he’s closing the hi-hats on the upbeats/offbeats! Which are the beats between the beats lol So 1🦶2🦶3🦶4. You basically have to divide your brain into four parts to play that 😅🤣 He also has some videos where he attaches a foot pedal to a cowbell and another to a snare or shaker and actually goes back and forth between pedals to make a groove with his feet while playing a totally different groove with each hand 🤯🫨 the dude is a machine! He has a nearly perfect mix of speed, accuracy, limb independence, musicality and dynamics… everything you could ever want from a drummer 🥁👑
Playing more notes doesn't mean you change the Tempo, there is only one Tempo in here like in 90% of the songs ever created, it s happened sometimes but very unusual to have multiple Tempos in one song. Do not mistake Tempo and the number of notes you play in one bar, you can divide the notes as much as you want, 2-4-8-16-32... As long as it's physically possible.
Drums start at 4:00. Gotta shorten that intro and the chatter dude. First time here and I was soooo close to clicking away, but I hung in there. Always looking for new Siberiano reactions.
I've seen this guy & he's awesome & I'm a Linkin Park fan but this is probably not his greatest cover because he's covering a group with a drum set. So you can hear the drums are slightly off, different
Pearth, Portnoy, Jordison, Colaiuta, Weckl, Copeland, Bruford and so on................ He can do e´m all. BUT i haven't heard him do Buddy Rich or Tomas Haake.
if u have a tough time saying his name, do what other english speaking person do, call him EES. his name is Jorge, and he uses the name El Estepario Siberiano.
