Universities, must abolish quota system, because all are equal and studied under 1 School system. Entry to universities are based only on meritocracy. @@bojongkia123because wayang kulit has some "shirk", the Ramayana thing and another one is the ritual before starting the show where the one who plays WK needs to give some offering ritual to the spirit. I have seen a lot of this during my childhood. But now WK still plays mostly by Kelantanese but without that shirk ritual. Dikir Barat no problem at all.

But nowadays it is not compulsory in Chinese opera shows particularly among the younger generation who love to perform Chinese operas but treat it more like a treasured piece of performing arts and music. As a fan, I have also formed a Chinese opera club in KL with a group of friends known as ‘Kelab Opera Cina Kuala Lumpur’ and we also performed a short show with TV3 about Princess Hang Li Po.🙂🙂

In fact, l had seen some Muslim friends sitting n chatting under a tree just outside a Chinese temple n they said it’s very cooling there. I don’t see anything wrong with that. I was born in Kelantan and grew up watching Wayang Kulit, Mak Yong and Dikir Barat. Even as a non Muslim, I appreciate very much the richness of the arts of Malay music and culture. I don’t see any of my Malay friends involved in the arts deviating from Islam either. It’s sad that instead of promoting such lovely Malay cultural treasures, they are being banned by the religious conservatives. 😔
They don't hide it lah. Lembah Bujang civilization is in Buku Sejarah menangah (I know because I teaches it). There is a reluctance by the state government to promote the site because A) much of it is still unknown B) Malay Muslims don't really have much interest besides the minimum when speaking of their polytheistic past, this is not just a religion issue mind you. Malacca sultanate gave birth to the high point of the Malay civilization and its influence is still felt today. Can't say the same about Srivijaya or Lembah Bujang C) There is always a possibility of the Tamil Ultras claiming that Old Kedah was an Indian civilization (it's not).
Lembah Bujang is the product of the mid 70's. Facilities and museum were built to protect and promote. The mindset of the authorities then were open to new knowledge. In the mid eighties, all had changed because of one person. The so called " angkor" of Malaysia were discovered in the late eighties. Nothing was done. Absolutely nothing. If this is not hiding, what else. What the world knows about the Malay till mid eighties were gradually deleted, so much so that the present young generation of the Malay does not even have the chance to know about it. When P Ramlee, Dikir Barat, etc disappeared from RTM1, the Malay Culture is gone for good. The real Malay does not exist anymore. You say you teaches Sejarah. When did Hang Tuah disappeared from the text book? In the late 90's, when this question was raised, the authorities gave an excuse that he was just a folklore. It was also the time when Hang Tuah's race was played up that he's Chinese in ethnicity. Todate, a new perspective pop up. What an eye opener in how History can be toyed with.
@@winterwolf1 The government is not hiding stuff, as recently as last June they kept finding new things in Bukit Choras Kedah. It was on the news, granted there is a lack of enthusiasm in doing more with these findings. Dikir Barat is a dying art form but so is much of the other classical arts everywhere globally, there was no conspiracy, young people aren't as interested in this stuff anymore and yes, the government should've done more to revive interest. Hang Tuah is still in buku Sejarah (tahun 4 unit 11), P Ramlee is still being shown either in RTM or Astro. Malay culture is doing fine, tanjak is in again, more people than ever are into the traditional busana, hack you can even the classical tari classes being held and just last year film like Mat Kilau became blockbuster.
