This is no mere propaganda. This is a timeless warning against giving in to our built-in human urge towards hatred of The Other, of elevating ourselves over those who are different, and of treating them as being less than human.

This is so true. Thats why we NEED mixed ethnicity neighborhoods it helps so much with combating racism, it is actualy insane. I am from germany and famously after the nazis threw most german men into allied machineguns (with the volkssturm even the children and the elder) we had a massive shortage of workers to rebuild and work in germany after the war. So the government made very very loose regulations on imigration to fill the labour pool. Today only around 13% of people living in germany are ethnicaly german and we have alot of skin color variaty on the streets. This results in incredibly low racism. I also have family in Poland and we visit them very frequently. As the polish population was not completely wiped out during world war 2 (although the nazis were trying, trust me) they didnt have the same need for migrant workers and as a result the population is as white as a fresh bed sheet. And the result? Incredible, absolutely indescribable racism. Since the the majority of people have never meet a black person before they hold the most wild, most unbelivable racist steriotypes. Everything from "monkey people" to "blacks are canibals". Yes I am not joking. It is crazy. Racism decreases with mixed ethnicity population. It is an undeniable fact.

What a powerful and thoughtful film. It is amazing that the US War Department produced this in 1947, with such clear examples and explanations of what can happen, in a society, and the consequences of this. I would say, its relevant to every and any country.

Great lesson... this is why history is so important and should not be destroyed. This is why we should not be putting labels on groups as victims or oppressors. This is why we need more free thought and speech instead of censorship under the guise of misinformation. This is why we need freedom of religion and to keep faith a part of our nation. If we allow big government to own and control our lives, elections, health, schools, jobs, food and energy supplies instead of the people, small business, churches, local communities - then we will fail. We are not a nation of any political party, ruling class, dictator or activist bullies. We are a Republic ruled by a US Constituion which allows for representation of the majority while protecting the inalienable rights of the minority!
It's not as though no actual victims and oppressors exist either though gaslighting is part of propaganda too telling you things didn't happen that did etc. Critical thinking is scarce now.

newslit.org/ offers some great techniques of how to determine the veracity of news sources. If one has questions about something specific, Mediabiasfactcheck.org or Snopes.com are good resources. And this video from the 40s encourages us do disbelieve news couched in terms of separating groups of people from other groups of people. Are they emphasizing racial or religious differences or are they just reporting the facts? Are they making generalizations to an entire group based on the actions of one person, or are they just reporting what that one person did? Speakers trying to separate us with the use of divisive or overly generalizing language are usually not to be trusted.
