I've been looking at various products like this for a bit, but hadn't pulled the trigger yet. Was always a bit skeptical of how well they'd work. Thanks for reviewing this: I just placed an order for one.

About the only knock on it is that after 2 fills totaling 9.5 minutes, the battery is at 50% even though the manufacturer claims 40 minutes capacity.

Was at Costco the other day and they have the fanttik S100 Apex for $39.99. I remembered watching this video a couple years ago and it triggered my brain that Cruisman reviewed the fanttik compressor so I bought it. Not sure what the difference is between the S100 and the X8 is but they seem pretty much identical. I think I did good at that price.

Watched your video 👍 and immediately ordered one. This morning I saw Max's video and that unit looked smaller, it only went to 150psi vs 250psi, but I'm using it for my bike and car only, up to 41psi. I'm still keeping the X8 Apex unit, sometime size matters. Great review.

I use a MotoPressor Mini Pump. I have an SAE harness wired to my battery to use with a Battery Tender, and 12 volt heated clothing, so it's very easy to hook up for me. The only thing I don't like about it is the screw on fitting, It's stiff, and I can't unscrew it quickly, losing several pounds of air in the process. The solution is a open flow clip on air chuck, however you never want to use an open flow air chuck without the hose attached as it will rapidly deflate your tire. For me personally, I've found I throw rechargeable items in the bike, or car, and then just forget to ever recharge them as I'm not using them often.

Looks like a real neat tool. The down side I see is having it tucked away in a corner of a saddle bag and forgetting to top off it's charge before that road trip and when I need it, it's too pooped to pump. I can't remember the one I carry, but I'll deal with the cords. Good video as usual!

Hi Dennis Joiner. I charge all my rechargeables every couple of months if I’m not using them regularly. That way, I never need to wonder if I’ll have enough juice when I actually need them. There is no 12V outlet on these new GoldWings. One would need to be installed in order to use a corded apparatus. Shame on Honda for not including such a simple item on their premium bike.

Nice video. I have the dyna plug air inflator, which I have used to add air to my tires as needed. It plugs right into my battery tender leads and takes up way less space than that unit. Also, have a noco gb40 jump pack, so I already have external battery power if I need it. I could see this being very useful for someone, though.

I carry a Dynaplug kit with inflator. It is corded but I don't consider that a drawback. I have a 12V plug on the dash of one M/C and the seat comes off of the other with one screw to battery access for 12V power. I have not had to use it yet and have not played with it at all.

I just bought a Mophie powerstation with air compressor. Larger than this one but it is a combination battery booster, air compressor and usb outlet. Tested on my front tire. Pressure was 34# per my known accurate gauge. Set Mophie for 36#. After inflation, rechecked with my gauge which showed 44#. Have service request in with Mophie. Other than that it seems like a nice unit.

Looks great. One concern. .From experience, successfully plugging a tire may sometimes require multiple attempts for the plug to seat. This can use up (limited) batt charge, while a corded (unlimited) inflator can plug into the bike’s power port.

I've only seen one portable pump incorporate the hose into the case. Also, most of these don't allow powering them from and external source to run, they only run off its battery. You ride a road bike, and us ADV rides need to deflate/inflate many times on a ride.

I wired in a fused 20 amp female cig to plug in a pump and supply all my charging needs in my trunk. Cord will reach front. Direct from battery. Always have bike running to supply full voltage and amps to air pump. Also will not drain battery. If you need that pump a few times trying to get to a shop. Good luck.
@twrcrew8852
@twrcrew8852 Год назад
the heat you're (not) experiencing through the device is due to the dimensions of the plastic around the pump's internals. It's rather deceiving if measuring temps from the outer casing, but by design it is MUCH smarter than a pump that was so compact, it did not have good ventilation for longevity. The case being hollow in nature allowing some airflow is a good thing, but it does not give you a clue into how hot the internals are actually getting - which are on par with all other pumps. That said, I recommend inflating things 5 psi at a time, with 30 second breaks in between to allow the temps to stay below dangerous levels for the internal integrity if you plan to own this for a very long time. Inflating from 0 - capacity should be seen as a CAPABILITY of this pump, but not it's primary use case. It should be used this way in emergencies only, and regularly used for 1-5psi top-offs (which is still very very useful when riding a bike for the first time after sitting for a few days, weeks, months etc). or just for general maintenance top offs. definitely beats lugging around a giant compressor even in a home garage setting.

So here’s the problem. Being rechargeable means you want to know that it has a charge when you need it. It’s great it works straight after a charge, but will it have enough after rattling around in the back of the bike for six months? So it needs maintenance. It needs to plug into the bike battery so you know it will work when you need it.

I'd be interested in a review of the Stop & Go RCP Mini-Air Compressor. It has no battery pack, but connects to the Battery Tender SAE plug that nearly everyone has installed a Gold Wing, so no worries about keeping it charged. It only goes to 50 psi, but it's only $42. Looks like it could do double duty for my Wing and also for my dual sport. A quick internet search shows LOTS of portable tire inflators. I don't suppose you can review them all.

The problem I have with mine is on my bike The front tire is 22 psi in the rear tire is 25 psi. The pump doesn’t go down that far so you have to manage the air pressure when I inflate the tires. Also, I like to deflate my tires when I’m riding off-road and then re-inflate them when I get back on the highway to go home this machine does not allow you to let air out of your tires. I have seen one in the past where there’s a button on the side that will let the air out of the tires and you can tell what the pressure is at as I let air out. That’s what I am looking for. I have the smaller version of this one.

It's really nice but the price is a little bit too much.. Harbor Freight small air compressor sounds a lot better for $10 and I already have cig lighter on my my rides.

Nice product but.... 2.5 hrs to charge??? Uggh. And when on a trip I think I'd rather spare the weight and carry co2 cartridges. For the garage, id still rather use a plug-in air compressor. Nice review CM!

I agree with Blamit, the price can't be justified when a 12v corded pump is 20% of the price. Two words of warning, rechargeable products need to be regularly cycled to maintain battery performance, and, I've tried many mini tyre pumps and they haven't lasted. Whatever the branding I've concluded they probably all have the same nasty made in China internal components.

Thanks for the video... Innovative thought indeed. Good product. And darn, it's quick.. Most of all, easier than to uninstall some fairings on the side of the road in order to get to the battery contacts for your electric pump. Though there's one huge problem... Carry that bulk weight all your life trusting it, and luckily never had to use for years. And when it's finally needed, many people will find out that the battery is dead. No problem, one can charge it using the lighter / usb output. Duh! The battery is deaf now (kinda dead) and doesn't keep a proper charge, because it was never used and recharged for all those years. And under extreme conditions like under the sun for hours and out in the cold. Batteries love extremes, right? :) (don't know about you, I try to carry such equipment on board the motorcycle at all times) For me, this is a kind-of-hard-to-depend-on a product. I personally protest every single device that has unremovable batteries. I suggest everyone to stay away if possible. Not only for they're practically disposal devices that causes precious earth resources to be wasted. Because it is risky to depend on such approach. Even if it may sound that using simple AA or AAA batteries with such a device seems unfeasible, you can find and buy several AA batteries any where in the world. Besides, 18650 or 21700 batteries are ultimate killers when compared to energy / mass... Those are easily valid options to nonremovable batteries. Besides, when batteries are removable, one can check, recharge, resupply with ease to make sure they are fully charged thus dependable. A simple non-rechargeable AA battery could be assumed to keep a 2000 mAh for example. Again assuming an average of 1.2 Volts, 1.2V * 2000mAh = 2400 mWh of energy. That device in comparison probably has a 7200 or 7800 mAh 3.7 lithium or polymer battery. It makes 7800 mAh * 3.7 V= 28860 mWh of energy. So, in order to keep up with half of its energy levels (assuming half of capacity of this product, enough for 2-tire inflation purposes), 6 AA batteries would be sufficient. Let's make it 8 to be on the safe side. 8 AA batteries for 2 tires. That's OK for me. More over, had they preferred to use the modern 21700 batteries as flashlight producers choose to, since one 21700 battery has (mostly 5000 mAh) at least 4000 mAh capacity and is 3.7 Volts; only 2 batteries would be able to keep up and rival the "current capacity of the product". Again, remove, replenish, carry 2 more, check monthly, recharge, resupply, etc. On the other hand, if I were to decide, I'd go for a "replacable inner module design", to be able to use AAs and 21700s interchangeably. The consumer could install one, leave the other battery module at home, or carry that as well.. AAs are everywhere to be easily found. Again, this product is a kind of a matter-of-life-and-death type of product. Let's cut to the chase.. In reality, there is no excuse to producing these devices with unremovable batteries. Especially when they're this bulky which means there is space for batteries.It's all a matter of industrial design. Can you imagine defence industry making excuses for producing rechargeable devices using non-removable batteries? They don't... They can't! Had that device been powered with AA batteries, I would definitely buy it. And its never a problem, I already carry some AA batteries alongside with 21700s with me all the time. I would carry 8 more for this device. Since those batteries are on board, they're actually used, replenished / recharged frequently and one wouldn't even have a problem finding a place to buy spares from, when needed. On the other hand, like I said before, non rechargeable batteries seriously degrade over time, especially when not used at all... Anyways.. Thanks again for the review. I kinda liked and disliked this product. I couldn't miss the opportunity to make some propaganda on the matter :D If anyone thinks I'm wrong, I'd be delighted to be corrected. Have a nice one. Cheers...

-Powerful Peformance: 3*2600mAh large capacity Li-ion battery can support inflating 4 car tires or 13 bicycle tires, or 80 basketballs. Now I wonder. Could it be using 3x 18650 batteries?

@@mimimmimmimim Probably. Which means shouldn't be too big a deal to replace them when / if the time comes. @mimimmimmimim - As far as the batteries being dead at the time you need it. That's easy enough to resolve. Simply schedule a battery check every 6 months or so. (Most people can do that on their watch now. Definitely on your phone.) I do that for all my recharchargable devices that I don't often use. Didn't get much past that issue in your post. Waaayyyyy toooo long!

wow. these are priced between 150-200 bucks? I just bought a similar product, the Xiaomi tire inflator for under 50 (direct from china, took too long) The thing is pretty amazing. I topped off a few tires and a space saver spare and a completely flat trailer tire to half flat on one charge. Works for motorcycles. There is a 'hyper tough' version that gets good reviews at walmart for 30 or less. These things are great. But don't spend this kind of money for one.

So we contacted them and they finally replied, they said they would refund us our money. Then when we said maybe the units are bad and maybe they could replace them, they then asked if we were using a USB C and charging them correctly to which we replied of course we are. They then offered a partial refund, but wanted a video of the kind of USB C cord and charger that we were using. Which they deemed was correct, but then offered us $30 per unit. This was over about 10 emails. That's not hyperbole. They say they're out of Texas, but they're absolutely one-hundred-percent Chinese.

You know it would be a lot less distracting if you had a clue about what you’re reviewing before you start talking about it. I usually love your videos but this came across as half-assed. It would not have been so distracting if you had merely glanced at the manual first. Sorry.
