Don't Buy Aural Dream Guitar Pedals Without Watching This First! 

the two you mention in the video , it's a shame that they can't make new pedals with simple sounds that would blend with guitar and other pedals . Ring Modulators ? lol How about different meaty sounds when combined with a wah or distortion pedal ? I can hear them in my head but these companies seem stuck for new stuff .

@@charleskinsey2141 they make one called a SUPER RING. i have one and i've tried lots of ring mods. other than my frostwave blue ringer it's the only one i've kept.

Glad I could help. The content on these was sparse when I made it, and now with experience I would say a bit misleading. May you find cooler weird pedals that actually work.

Yeah, that’s what I was hoping for but they go a bridge too far for me half of the time... definitely some possibilities in a parallel rig but 🤷‍♂️ And thanks for noticing! I’m a fan of the Knick knacks and and Easter eggs and that sign, they’ve all showed up in other videos, and more to come.

Thanks man! If you have suggestions for other pedal lines around this price point I’m certainly interested- I have a series dedicated to weirder pedals in the mix, but want to wait until I have them all made so I can release them back to back to back etc.

Considering the general QC (or lack thereof) I don’t think it’d be much better. The latency is also an issue on the violin tone, and I’ve heard it’s an issue on their other instrument emulating pedals

That's cool, maybe Aural Dreams does better when they're not going for the weird stuff? And yeah that color, between that and a berhinger ultra metal, and rainbow machine... and some of another color like green (Tube screamer, DL6 come to mind) you could make a super A E S T H E T I C pedal board

Yeah, I've found them to be fun to use in a parallel pedalboard set up, even used a couple of them in my video that covered Cigarette Daydreams with pedals on the vocals. Blending is super necessary, and luckily for me a normal part of my set ups. And dang that sounds like most corporations lol, landlords in particular are the worst. I've wondered that myself, the only possible explanation I've come up with is maybe they didn't want to use them on guitars? IDK. They can be useful, but they are super chaotic and unwieldy, I put them in the "Studio only" category, you can get good sounds out of them but only in super controlled environments.

One day JHS Pedals will make a video on the Aural Dream "tone" series of pedals and they will triple the price overnight.

I’d love to hear what someone else can do with them- the only examples I’ve managed to find seem hyper prepared to make the pedals sound good, and honestly even the ones I like (fixed harmony and crystals harmony) don’t seem to stack well with other pedals

I think you could say that about some of the settings on the organ synthesis as well- but once you got a looper, freeze and whammy you can drone anything all to hell if you really want I should look into those set ups more, there were some local bands here that did that sort of sound, but I kind of lost track of things

I tend to leave my guitar wide open on both, however I'm not sure what difference you're referring to. I don't think it would help with the time based issues unless you think there may be a tracking issue on the synthesis... but even then, more signal tends to be best unless it's distorting. I'll give the detune pedal a look, but I would be pretty surprised if they did. Lacking any manual to tell you about it it seems like a leap of faith, if they did it would certainly be entertaining! Thanks for watching, these pedals can be cool though a bit touchy imo

@@BGBSATX I was thinking a high volume level might cause clipping, causing unpredictable behaviour. For the tone control, I was thinking of the tracking, as on an EHX Octave Multiplexer, where they tell you to turn the tone down so it tends to track the fundamental, and not get confused by the harmonics. The EHX pedal is largely analog, so it's not really the same problem, but the tracking and octave division is done by CMOS logic. The Aural Dream pedals will be DSP/software based, but there might still be some parallels. The crucial part of the EHX pedal is the circuit that decides if the signal is above or below a threshold (actually, if it's outside two thresholds, one positve and one negative, IIRC). On a DSP pedal, there would probably be software making the same decision, so either way, if there's a lot of noisy upper harmonics, it will try to respond to those, which generally isn't what you want. Both volume and the tone knob affect the threshold. The Aural Dream pedals might have some automatic gain built in (also software) but you might still get better results by finding a level it likes more. Gain always increases noise, even if it's digital. Too little signal level from the guitar will mean more noise (which is harder to track), but too much signal will probably mean it's clipping at the input of the pedal. Clipping adds higher harmonics, or false ones, so it will tend to mess up tracking.

El DeTune creo que es un pedal bonito, parecido al flanger y chorus. Pero creo que carece del efecto turbina de avión que tanto me gusta del flanger, y lo hace también un poco el chorus. 😄😊

Which Ammoon pedals do you have? I’ve not really looked into that brand. And thanks for watching! Trying to focus on less expensive pedals that punch above their weight for people shopping around- and the lack of videos on this made me think I was on to something 😂 😂

@@BGBSATX I have Ammoon OCTA and Retro Fuzz - in both cases I'm really surprised. You can easily find reviews and demos on yt. Retro Fuzz was REALLY cheap, and sounds AWESOME(this is my first Fuzz pedal, and I'm now in love with the Fuzz sound, therefore I will probably look for something more fuzzy in the future, but for now it does the trick for me). One interesting pedal from them would be also Pockverb. One complaint I have - after I connected those 2 pedals to my pedal board, I have this feeling that overall noise is probably slightly higher, even when the pedals are switched off. I'm not quite sure however, is this because of pedals, or is this connected to the fact that I'm using 2 separate power supplies, because I've run out of cables in the first one. I need to experiment with that, because I have this feeling, then I disconnect the pedals completely, and the noise is still there, so maybe it's just noise in my head :P and I'm getting crazy. Anyway, for me, and many people on yt Ammoon pedals are worth to give them a try.

In the cigarette daydreams cover video I did where the other singer and I had a bunch of pedals on our vocals we both had the fixed and crystals harmony going on them. It was… fun but chaotic. I could try throwing a piano patch or something through them. Could be really fun to throw a strings patch through the violin tone.

That site he showed that were getting rid of them...I talked them down to I think $25 it was for one of the pedals....Flute tone maybe?....it sounds even worse than all of these, if you can believe it. I use pedals with synths/keyboards.....I gott do more experiments with my Aural Dream pedal...but it still sounds horrible with synths.

Yeah, the ‘right kind of wrong’ thing is something I really enjoy when it comes to consumer audio gear/video gear. But if you buy any of the not so good ones you will have a very hard time reselling them

@@BGBSATX I was referring to the detune pedal. Eddie vanhalen used a detune effect around 8-10 cents setting when sammy hagar sang with them (van hagar era) Moore has a pedal called pitch box then can get close to the sound but the pedal doesn't have levels or eq/ tone knobs. The aural detune seems to have some flexibility with those knobs

I have the oboe tone pedal. He’s right. It’s not at all an oboe tone. But it has some weird and potentially interesting sounds.

Was not among the options when I bought, but this far I’ve not heard anything very favorable about their other pedals. I’m not a fan of the way it lags and adjusts in spurts rather than in real time (slow DSP) I’d be concerned about that in a reverb pedal, for the same price there are other options out there.

Yeah, I had debated EQing/compressing the organ pedal differently than the rest to make it not so abrasive, but I felt like that would be lying about the pedal. How did that thing ever get out of the testing phase? Is organ synth B any better? Using the S & E knobs do more to adjust the timing, but yeah... that's THE sound it does. I guess I also just don't see it being a multi song pedal, because once you've heard it... that's it.

70s low budget not even B movie....C movie

I had wanted to find one of those, but I cut it off at 6 pedals because budget. The big thing I saw with the violin tones, aside from it not sounding like a violin, was the latency, which seems to be universal to their sound instrument replacer pedals if the reviews are to be believed.

That’s what they advertise. I don’t think it would be very useful for most players though, the sound would probably be weird and have a latency. I just looked for videos of it on RU-vid, surprisingly there aren’t any. If you get it you should make a video so people will know, but if you ask me it probably will be a disappointment, and I’m done buying those pedals 😅

Why wouldn't you play single note lines with some of these. How many violins play chords?

I really want to see what they used to compare against, like they have other more simple pedals that are clearly clones (not great ones though) but I can't even imagine where they got the ideas for the ones in this video from, like I know EHX has some stuff like this, but those are $400, a far cry from these. Truly innovators, if poor on execution.
