DON'T Buy The Bluetti EB3A

I should not have bought the Bluetti EB3A. This is because the EB3A will not run a 12v diesel heater. This is a shame because from what I can tell all of the similar priced units can run one.
I have reached out to Bluetti regarding this issue and will update you guys if more information comes up.
This is not just happening to me it is all over the place as people attempt to use the EB3A to run a diesel heater.

Bluetti has responded with this- "Sorry for the problem and the delay reply We already purchase a diesel heater and do a experiment, EB3A can't load the diesel heater, the start-up current of the diesel heater is too high, we need to do more test and modify the hardware to meet more customer's demand. But for now, the EB3A can't load the diesel heater by cigarette lighter port. Kindly let us know, if you have any questions. Thank you for your patient and understand as always." This is a shame as they say the hardware needs changed. I was hoping a firmware update would resolve this..

Right they don't do any research and wonder why it isn't working right and instantly blame everyone else. So many negative ratings on Amazon because people look at the picture and them get mad because pictures don't give you relative size all the time. These people are just hating life constantly, everyone else at fault.

Unfortunately, the DC output is regulated so it can't handle a surge like the AC inverter can handle. I have the EB3a and use the cigarette output to run electronics on my boat. Depth finders are extremely voltage sensitive so having the regulated output really helps in that situation. The weight on the EB3a is great for my application. I could use a marine battery, and have done so, but the output isn't regulated so the depth finders will occasionally shut off. Not a big deal but a pain to restart them. I also have the AC200max and can run my RV all day with it. Of course, it won't run the AC but it does fine with the refrigerator, compressor fridge, all the lights, etc. It will run the furnace blower, microwave, coffee maker, and anything else but that burns through the battery quickly. It also weighs over 60 pounds so "portability" is more of an issue I guess you'll need to get either a bigger unit( though other Bluettis may have the same issue on the DC side) or find another brand with an unregulated DC outlet. I have been a bit disappointed with the EB3a in some regards. The actual wattage available through the inverter is below 80% but over 90% with the DC side. I love the concept of these "solar generators" but all of them have a way to go before they are a dependable power source.

I had a similar frustrating issue with my Oupes 600w. I got an icemaker 100/120v 60w. It showed the Jackery 500 powering an Igloo ice maker. Mine errors out soon as the compressor kicks on & after research said it spikes to 800w during that time. I knew I was SOL. I tried putting it on a 1440 joules surge protector to no avail. No luck. I was looking to purchase this but not now. Thanks for the honest review.

Eco Flow and Jackery have 5 year warranty. Even the Jackery Explore 240 - 290 is older than plus series. Has an inferior battery. The battery does not matter if the unit isn't up to task. Jackery has proved itself even with the older tech. Stick with the Jackery! Trust me. You need these units to last until they don't. Im just going to toss on my experience with the bluetti EB3A. Basically got it as a daytime/solar power source for our 60 watt fridge. At night it sips power from our older off brand 660 watt station. In the mornings we have from 66 to 34% left on the old thing. The Bluetti drains in 2 hours and claims the fridge is pulling 70 to 90 watts even on a cold morning when the thermometers inside it and the fridge both show the temps at settings. The bluetti has heated up so bad the past three days with the internal 'adaptor' rather than a 'brick' type, I've had to put a lunch box blue ice block on it to get it to even charge. I bought a suggested 12v charging cord for it that will charge the old station but not the bluetti. It's more trouble than it's worth. Also, everyone said, don't get the bluetti solar panel that goes with it. They were right. Three days later, still no response from bluetti, despite our concern that this thing keeps giving a heat warning with no explanation in the instructions. Good luck with your search!

A lot of good voltage regulators will shut down before blowing a fuse. Since a fuse is slower, you can get by with quick overloads for a short duration. Those automotive capacitors used in audio systems provide surge power for higher power spikes without so much distortion should be capable of providing your heater with surge power. It seems bad to not recommend a product because they use a regulator responsive enough to prevent blowing a lot of fuses. If you want surge power, add an external battery or capacitor to provide the extra power during the surge. A jump starter box could solve the problem since they can deliver enough power to start a vehicle.
@ModernDayViking

Jackery 290 does it fine. I do not recommend this product because it advertises running a certain amp via DC and does not do what is advertised.

@@ModernDayViking I've been trying to think of the ultimate solution for your heater but I'm not sure of how you plan to recharge it. A 12V 50 A/H lifepo4 battery would give you over 600 w/h of power, over 2X the EB3A, and capable of running your heater but you would need a charger for it.

I purchased 2 of these to be used as a UPS for 2 computer systems. Both failed miserably. One kept shutting off on 'overload' while the other one kept interrupting the current on and off repeatedly making it completely unusable as a pass through power source. Neither was able to work properly. The one that shut off on overload had a 90 watt load on it when this happened. The other one had a 208 watt load during the time it kept shutting off and on. Bluetti has not figured out how to make a reliable power station in this size. Do not buy. I read where one fellow who connected his CPAP woke up gasping for air with his shut off during the night. I was able to start 5kW noname air heater out of 12Vsb 7А PSU. Sound reasonable to check if properly primed air heater will start on minimal power, as it consumes 110-120W for ignition as glow plug consumes lots of power, then the consumption falls to 40W average. The other possible issue is bad car plug with led and fuse - it drops down voltage, that's why you probably can't start your air heater.
