Should be noted all of this information applies to late model cars (with actual rivets) because earlier 60's cars more specifically GM cars have a vin tag spot welded on the A pillar. The fall off all of the time. Very important to keep an eye on the condition of the tag and spot welds.

The word number is being abbreviated by the N in V.I.N. So how does it make sense to call it a Vehicle Identification Number number?
