I'm from the area. I'm also in my late twenties so I have a much more relevant opinion than this old Rich mayor does. The people coming from other states is a problem, however the housing market is a much bigger problem and the rental market is also a bigger problem than that. People here cannot afford to live here anymore the prices compared to that of medium-sized California cities think about that this is considered Small Town Tennessee yeah you're looking at 2000 on average for an apartment in this area. You can Zillow that for proof, it's absolutely ridiculous and they are destroying red States not necessarily just by moving in them but by making them unaffordable to the local residents and that is really an issue that the politicians don't care about conservatives need to understand this.

I live in eastern TN. We just saw a significant property tax increase thanks to all this "growth". Of course that's also becasue of greedy real estate and property owners pushing the cost of land way higher because they know these folks can afford it.

I grew up in the Nashville area many decades ago with family still in the area. Like Atlanta, today if I travel I will go out of my way to avoid Nashville. It has become an absolute over-developed mess losing the charm it once had. I don't understand how area residents stand the ever increasing traffic gridlock without any serious attempt to resolve that problem. About ten years I moved back to the Southeast with the Nashville area in my relocation plan. All it took was one visit to eliminate that idea.

Gallatin Mayor Paige Brown has encouraged unrestrained growth in her town. The result is that the tax burden for infrastructure and schools falls on the citizens of the entire county and we're tired of paying for her developer cronies benefitting from decimating our rural way of life. So yes, we're fighting back. If you move here thinking it's a conservative haven...I've got news for you. We're fighting hard against the uniparty right here. And yes, even the Californian, NYer, Michigander refugees say "Don't California Tennessee". They're sounding alarm bells and digging in to help protect our way of life. We welcome them and their efforts.

I live in the city next to Gallatin. Gallatin is a $hithole.

The farm land and green spaces are being consumed at an alarming rate. I used to live there. Left to take a job out of state and came back to Putnam Co. in 2003. Never regretted not being in Gallatin. Sumner County is overpopulated as are a few of the surrounding counties right around Metro Davidson. The Coasties, mid Western refugees and NE's have found us. Southerners are suspicious for good reason. We don't like to be meddled with and don't like folks coming in and telling us how they did it where they come from.

Because as conservatives we don’t want to live with the nutties that have populated California and we bring conservative family values and want to be a part of a community. I do believe in living according to the community you are moving into because living crazy high like our old life is incompatible with that new lifestyle. I love the simplicity of Ohio and I don’t for one second miss my California life, so I have no need to recreate anything because California still exists even if it has gone down the tubes.

This problem has been happening in Missouri since the early 1990's. All the people who have come to MO have ruined this state; too many people, the over priced real estate, the arrogance of the drivers. This was a nice state until all the people from CA and the NYC area showed up.

Gallatin resident here. Traffic is TERRIBLE. Example 386 @ 109. Infrastructure can’t keep up. The city isn’t even trying. Home prices have doubled? Try tripled. Where there were once scenic views and farmland, there are now houses on top of houses. The creek that we went and played in the 90s? I wouldn’t dare my worst enemy go in there. Tn is f’d.

Ya the economic boom sounds good but when you see the negative effects of it like severe traffic, unaffordable housing, crumbling infrastructure and rude, entitled out of staters. I agree. We left SoCal 25 years ago and we vote red. We had enough brains to know California governance ruined it. Enough people have turned Nashville blue. They tend to be from here, the Northeast, and the Midwest as well. Traffic, overbuilding and crime are getting worse.

That's the problem here in North Carolina these people move in and they will take a nice rural town and make it a huge City and then they're like leeches leaching out from the city gobbling up anything they can in their quest to be quote-unquote progressive. Meanwhile people who have lived here all their lives worked for what they have pay their taxes are being priced out for these higher income people to enjoy what they feel is their quality of life the rural people and the local people it doesn't matter what their quality of life is anymore
