This is Don't Do Sadness/Blue Wind from Jonathan Groff and Lea Michele's last performance of Spring Awakening on May 18th at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre. Moritz is played by Blake Bashoff in this performance since John Gallagher already left the production by this time. Ilse is played by Emma Hunton. Spring Awakening is a rock musical set in Germany in the late 19th century, It is all about exploration of sexuality and the growth of those feelings. WARNING: Themes are very mature!!

Blake Bashoff is so underrated. God, I love every Moritz, but when I saw the show (on Broadway and the tour) he was Moritz both times, so he'll always hold a special place in my heart.

the cool thing about SA is that the source material is so great and the characters have this cool ambiguity that lets an actor bring their own energy and perception to it- making it so that any good actor can come into it and create a whole new idea to the part and play it just as well, like these two have

I think he sings the part well but acting I prefer JGJ. I just don't feel Blake goes as all out as John does.

I've never seen this cast before! I don't love this scene being played for laughs. Certain moments like Ilse's "But how about you, Moritz, still in school?" are supposed to be funny, but the rest, I thought felt a bit out of place. However, I liked Blake's voice and acting at the more dramatic moments. I thought Emma was splendid. I prefer her acting even to Lauren's, and while I think the raspy sound of Lauren's voice is more suited to this character, Emma's singing was very soulful and lovely.
