@@SwitchSucksAss if its so garbage why are you so inclined to use a parody account instead of your main? Also im not buying a steam deck when i have an rtx 3090 Ti graphics card, i use my switch because i enjoy the games and have been using my since it released.
@@rajgus7638 no not really. If you watch the experiment it’s determined that unless you intentionally leave it on a still, bright image 24/7 for years, you can pretty much never ever worry about screen burn in.
Just be sure to put the OLED in sleep mode when you don’t plan to use it. It takes literally less than 2 seconds to tap the off button to put it to sleep.
Wullfden left his switch oled on for over a year and it took months to get noticeable burn in. Burn in was only a major issue when it was a newer technology.
@@iking2323 phones don't come with a screen protector either but I'd argue you need it for that too. You don't need it but why not make sure it's protected??
1: Just get a protective case with a kickstand. 2: Buy a screen protector 3: Get the original lcd model if you are really worried about burn in. There, now you don't have to worry about anything.
solved the dock situation, layer a thin and soft material preferably cotton, on the inner side of the dock, on the surface the switch would be facing. (the factory wrapper works too). 4 years passed not even a tiny scratch.
Quality advice from this guy -Never drive with your headlights on at night. -Never call emergency services as a result of the subsequent accident. -Never administer any first aid to the casualties involved.
About #2: that’s why dock socks exist and you should DEFINITELY get one. It’s a sleeve that covers the inside of the dock so that your screen slides against soft safe cloth instead of the dock and dust and debris. Solid-color simple dock socks like mine are $5-$10. Dock socks with designs on them are around $15-$25. Dock socks are a life saver.
@FillerBunny NinjaShark yupppppppp. Or that had fabric on the inside. Or that was a puzzle thing. So the switch would slide in and fit snug like in a V in the dock.
1. Who's gonna open it from the side? 2. Get a screen protector like a normal person would 3. It won't do anything to your switch if you leave it for an hour or so on. The screen won't burn and the lifespan won't drop "alot"
Only thing that could happen to the screen is that the pixels could burn and permanently be sorta "stained" a particular color. But you'd have to keep your Switch Screen on for like...dozens of hours at a time, and who the hell is gonna do that?
Came here to say this, I got a nice tempered glass screen protector on mine they're like $12 so no excuses really. They're also available at any local Walmart
I remember vividly chucking and dropkicking my cousin's gamecube, and even bouncing it off the trampoline just to see if it kept working. It worked flawlessly. Probably still works to this day lol
#3 oled have a failure mode known as burn in, burn it is most commonly known from the cathode ray tube Era but is now returning with the oled Era, burn in happens when the phosfers have a image "burned" into them from outputting the same picture for a long time
Actually a youtuber named Wolffden tested the OLED's screen for this and it's not a major problem for this console. I think he just has the OLED always on the same screen on a shelf or something and checks it occasionally
Wulffden on RU-vid left his oled switch on displaying a single image for over a year straight now, and the burn in only started happening several months in, but it was very minute. Today, the burn in is pretty bad, but in some conditions it’s pretty ignorable. The conclusion is that there’s pretty much no way your oled switch can get burn in because: 1. It’s not gonna be on 100% of the time 2. Even if it was, the same image or UI elements aren’t gonna be displayed for that long 3. Even if you’re a hardcore switch user that plays daily, by the time even the smallest amount of burn in happens, you’ll most likely already have either a revised switch, or a new switch 2 or switch pro. So basically, you don’t have to worry about it, you can use the oled switch as much as you like with no issue regarding burn in 👍
and I still have my OG switch controller with no joy-drift after many years and more than 3000 hrs into BotW... so yeah, ppl cannot take care of things...
Channel called Wulffden proved leaving it on won't damage the screen unless you leave it on the same static image without turning it off for 9+ months straight, it'll be fine
It’s not that the lifespan will drop, you’ll get something called screen retention which actually goes away after a while since it’s not actual “burn in” like with old plasma tvs. Also it preserves the battery.
@@nanashi5139 I lied it was 1 year and 50 days. The channel that posted it is called WULFF DEN ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7TMyUDKqWWI.htmlsi=MiNa6zRgRGJ7m76z
The original switch had the screen scratch issue too, one recommendation I saw a couple weeks after launch was get a screen protector. Got one myself and have never gotten a scratch or ever need to replace the screen protector
I bought a dust cover for my switch as well as a screen protector that came with thin rubber strips that you stick on the inside of the dock which minimizes the risk of scratches. I also got the Skull & Co. GripCase which is a case for the Switch that protects it from the sides and from the back in case I ever dropped it on the floor My Switch will be good for years to come
For the dock I'd recommend getting a dock sock. You can pick them up pretty cheap and will protect your screen when you dock it. I have one with a Boo etched on the front.
the quality of the oled screen is enough to work on insane amount of time on the same screen without any burn, one youtuber (i think is wuffden) proved this by letting its console on the same image since months before it even officialy relased
Okay I’ll make sure not to be very careful when, opening the stand. I’ll try to make it bump into the edges as much as possible. Make standby mode as long as possible. Got it.
1. You would have to be an idiot to damage your Switch that way. 2. Buy a screen protector and don't worry about it. 3. Just turn your Switch off after use and it doesn't matter what the timer is set to.
Can't belive that they haven't learned anything about designing the dock properly. Should be something soft so when you slide it in you don't scratch the screen or the glass you applied. /Nintendo Switch Oled owner.
None of these things are true. Why would you make up problems with a good product? To feel helpful when you come up with dumb ass solutions? Nobody has ever reported any of this happening.
iirc to get any amount of burn in on the screen you have to leave it on a bright still image for like, a week or something? so yeah there's no risk of that lol
I've had the original switch for idk 5 years or something and it's still perfectly fine all I did was put a screen protector on and I just keep the brightness down so it dies slower
I always have either a screen protector on my switch, or I have a slide-on cloth sleeve for the front panel of the console to prevent scratching the screen.
The last one takes well over 3000 hours. But shut the console down so the boards don’t suffer heat damage, it’s not the screen you have to worry about. This has been proven several times here on YT.
The last thing is called burn in, and it's more noticeable in older OLED screens. There was someone who tested it, and it had no burn in for a long time
Don't forget Internet>internet settings>[Select your home wifi]>change settings>MTU> change to 1500 This can help speed up downloads slightly. This works mostly only with home networks because proper work and public networks use that extra 100 MTU when your home network is too basic to need or use it.
1 thing you should do even if you have an Oled, or normal switch. Use the buttons to take the Joycons off. This does not apply to the Nintendo Switch Lite, as you cannot disconnect the controllers on that.
im pretty sure the stand is not supposed to be opened from the middle, it’s the only part flush flush with the edge. literally any other part like the parts over the vent are made to be able to be pulled with a finger
It would have been helpful if someone had told me before to only lift the kickstand in middle of the back instead of the sides. Now the back of my switch is sticky due to speaker dust cover vents were because of lifting on the sides instead of the middle. Just so everyone knows if you lift the kickstand on the sides you will not take off the vents themselves you only take off the speaker dust covers. If you did like me lift the kickstand on the sides your Switch will be ok.
The vent issue with the kick stand is very rare, I open OLED stand they way they dont recommend and have been doing so for over a year with no issues. The dock scratch issue can be solved with a $10 screen protector replaced yearly as long as you arent extremely rough with the console. The burn-in issue is a non issue. Wulff Den did an experiment with the OLED screen, and after keeping the screen on for literally 1000s of hours on the exact same image, only then did very bright portions of the screen start to burn in, and it still wasn't very noticeable. Go watch his video for details but basically as long as you don't leave you switch plugged in and on, on a stationary picture with bright images for hundreds of hours straight, you should be fine.
Regarding dust: Dust has nothing to do with scratches. There has been a design flaw in the dock ever since the Switch was released back in 2017, where the dock scratches the screen. Its well documented. To this day, Nintendo refuses ro acknowledge the design flaw and refuses to redesign the dock. That is why since 2017, that everybody recommends a screen protector for the Switch.
Wulffden did a video showing the screen is crazy resistant to burn in. Literally left the screen on for several months straight on a single image, and basically nothing happened. Nice that Nintendo actually did something good for once.
3rd point it's true, but It isn't a problem, it takes a lot for a OLED screen like the switch, even in max brightness to make any damage to the screen, and with a lot I mean months with the screen on, and that's impossible (kind of)
I know people try and avoid scratching the screen on the dock like the plague. Just use a screen protector like you would on a phone. It's cheap and gives you some peace of mind.
A man left a oled switch on for over a year and the screen burn in wasent bad. Simply, don't worry about the switch getting burn in. It's not that easy for something like that to happen
This all makes sense and I'm thankful you posted this, but I'm never going to bother with the OLED. I've had a regular switch for years before there was the old and I'm not going to bother with upgrading. It honestly isn't really much of an upgrade. I was really hoping that they would make this newer version of the switch have more internal storage but they didn't.
Ok so fun fact when you cherish an item and use it constantly it’s bound to get scratched or lightly damaged. Don’t use something if you want it in mint condition. Just look at my 3ds- Ok so you can’t really but it’s scratched up from being almost 10 years old. Wait I think it might already be 10 years old!
