I'm so glad you're enjoying your hike and that you enjoyed the Starburst. The little things that bring joy are really the BIG things in life. I love that you packed out the balloon ❤. It was great meeting you and Leo and I plan to follow you guys the rest of the way.

Congrats on Connecticut! We’re off to Ireland for our thru hike of the Kerry Way, and we’re taking our I Suck at Hiking w/Leo tshirt! If the weather cooperates, we will take a pic of Leo on an Irish trail. ☘️❤️. Hoping to keep up with your journey when we have WiFi.

Thanks for packing out the Mylar balloon. It’s so sad how many get released and where they end up. They never degrade. I guess that’s why hyperlight does not have load lifters. Ultra light packs just can’t support them. Great video again as always!

I started section hiking the A.T. In 2016. I started without any experience. My first pack was an Osprey. It was 2 heavy. My second pack was a Z-Packs arc haul. I got tired of constantly working on the carbon stays. 3rd pack is a Hyperlite Mountain Gear. It has been the best of the 3. Right now my biggest complaint is having to chase the sleeping pad around the duplex all night long. I need a way to make it stay in one place.

Gossamer gear 1/8 pad under it, then it won't move

Hi Mike, Welcome to New England!!! Hopefully I can catch you somewhere in NH when you and Leo get up here and treat you to some trail magic! It's hard to judge where you'll be since your videos are 5 or 6 days out, but I'll try my best to figure it out. I heard that guy talking to you on the bridge, asking about Leo making it up Katahdin, I think he'll do great. But question: Is your wife or are any of your boys planning to meet you in Baxter and climb up with you? That would be awesome. Keep hikin' the good hike. Love your content!!

Looking at the trackless wilderness I keep wondering how the native Americans were able to find their way about. The view was wonderful and mysterious as no roads trails or highways are visible. I appreciate your commitment and verve.

The covered bridge is cool. Connecticut is the gateway to the northern part of the trail. Different than the middle ranges or the southern end. You are going to love it. Starburst was a favorite with my students! Videos are really a highlight of our daily routine while you are on trail. Watch for the northern lights if you can see the sky tonight. Not sure where they will be best seen, but worth a peek. Safe travels!

Noticed you gave the cost of your recent stay in town but not the cost of the NYC deli trip, but I know better not to ask as I'm sure the answer would be priceless! Surprised that the trail is so narrow even through open flat areas. Thinking of you staying cool on trail sitting in my almost 80degree living room in Michigan with all the windows open, maybe a personal fan that squirts water. Caught up with Ramdino yesterday who showed hikers in your area fighting black flies, but you look unperturbed so far with mosquitoes, etc. My experience has been that black flies make mosquitoes look good so I wish you the best.

7:13 thanks for the kind words about us “outsiders”. The issue is that people make the money in the city and then move to the suburbs. When people move from other states to the area outside the city, some of us are nice! I hate the city. I live 2 hours from it and have no use for it.

👍 While I have had no trouble with my ultra arc haul 60ltr, unless it is something catastrophic I will take a few hiccups for the comfort. Have had a few other high end packs and none feel and carry like the Zpacks.
