I started my micro locs myself and I also self maintain them. I maintain my hair just like people with thick locs do going from anywhere between 2 to 6 months before I retighten them but yes, it does take longer when its time to retwist them. The smaller they are the more you'll have to maintain. I dont have the smallest size though because I didnt want fragile locs
I feel like I'd be content having microlocks because I actually enjoy doing my hair. It's not a problem if you're something who likes playing in their hair. However, it can be a chore otherwise and many people don't realise it until they get it.❤️❤️❤️
@@LilianOkibe Definitely. It depends on how one looks at it. It's kind of therapeutic to me and yes, it's fun playing in my hair. Your hair is beautiful by the way
Such sounds logic! I took this into consideration when starting my locs. I wanted sister locs so bad but ain’t no way I’m self maintaining sister locs, let me be honest with myself 😂 I have 99 locs which is perfect for me.
I actually got small sized starter locs... and i noticed my hair is getting puffy and thicker and not as small as it was when i started.. I'm 2 months locked now
That's normal. Generally, smaller locs shrink for a longer period of time than bigger locs. Depending on the length of hair you're starting with, it may take up to 3 years before your locs will get to the length your loose natural hair was when you started. The longer your loose hair was, the more pronounced this would be.❤️❤️❤️
That's me. 😂 Loved my microlocs (had over 320). Self maintained. But it's two years, two jobs now and self retie takes two days. I want less stress so I'm combining them. Now half that number, thicker and looks fuller (for some reason, my husband keeps thanking me for combining them 😂😅). I'm thinking of semi freeforming
Yay! Congratulations on your jobs.🎉🎉🤗🤗🤗 Your husband probably likes the look of the bigger locs or maybe he just appreciates that you're less stressed.😂😂😂 And yes, semi freeforming will buy you more free time.
My loc size are med, more like yours, and I actually use a crochet needle to interlock new growth every 1-2 inches every 3-4 months. Twists seemed to thin and break the new growth.
Question do you notice that as locs get older and longer they thin ? Or is it me? I don’t mean thining on the roots ohh, the strands itsf, maybe thining is not the best word but it sure gets smaller and stronger kind of
