I hate this fucking system so much why does this seem to be such a common issue. I've had 2 systems that have done this for no fucking reason.

I've noticed many people are saying that they are still having problems after trying the repair in this video. That's because what he looked at here only controls the Lazer and how it reads the disc. The issue here is that it won't take discs into the system. That is controlled by a small board that has a switch that is activated when you attempt to put a disc in. That happens because of the arms that are separated and it presses a switch on that board when you insert the disc. Once this happens the mother that controls the rollers in the front of the disc drive spin to pull the disc in. And spin the opposite direction to eject the disc. The Lazer and mother to make the disc spin have nothing to do with disc being taken in or ejecting.

I just got a ps3 slim for free and it does the same damn thing , some videos like this one show it’s the rod mechanism from within the Drive that moves the laser up and down Other videos show to just mess around with the arms on the cover that allows to feed the discs in and out . It’s really hard to tell what my solution is But my problem is what you showed in the beggining of this video. Trying to put a disc in and it’s just not accepting / ready to eject , not accept it what so ever

Ok so like a Reddit page I have an update on the status of my ps3 slim. I went on eBay and I found somebody that was selling a replacement drive in its entirety and wound up having them accepting an offer with shipping and tax of $34 and then using left over eBay bucks knocking it down closer to $25. I unplugged the 3 rear ribbons and the one bottom ribbon on the faulted drive , removed the faulted drive and put in the replacement drive and it is working just fine now. Reading games and all and also cleaned the inside of my ps3 slim as well especially where the wifi antennas were . If you don’t feel like guessing and spending a couple of extra dollars with your own labor isn’t going to hurt you, do what I did and just buy a replacement drive all together that is functioning and then test the disc load / play a music cd/ dvd / blu ray with the top cover off before putting everything back together and you will be on sweet street Now I’m gettin a copy of ultra street fighter iv brand new off Amazon for $42 while they still have them new at that price and under night in-birth and getting some fighting game trophies off these blu ray disc copies with my working drive

The long stick with threads on it popped out of place somehow on the end where is normally should go. It looks obvious when you have it in front of you however in the video it may be difficult to see that. There are many different reasons that this might happen and it's not always the same problem for everyone.

@joey sometimes it needs cleaning on the rollers with some Q-Tips and alcohol and or something may have gotten jammed, stuck, or even broken out of place.

That is a worm motor that has to sit even to rotate and retrieve the disc tray.

Well thank you for that bt mine looks like it's finish won't take or eject the game disc it's a cech-2101 so its like here sitting and ama have to get a different disc drive

What is that white cream u added, does it needed to be smoother?

I used Lithium Grease, it's a yellowish white and non conductive. If you can't find it in your stores you may use any type of grease or light oil you can find around your place. Just a small amount of grease is needed to keep things moving smoothly and yes it would have been better if I distributed it more evenly, however when the moving parts glide along it will even it's self out:)

Do you know anything about the ps3 plack screen, my ps3 powers on and takes discs and shows the game pop up and reads it. But it just goes black afterwards

is it possible that the disk drive still wont accept disks even though the rod and spring are lined-up perfectly? thats my case now

Yes there are many other things that may go wrong with them also, you might try to use a cotton Q-Tip with some Rubbing Alcohol on it to clean off the rollers so they will grip better. That is also a common problem, then there is stuck motors and other things to look for. Good luck hope you get it working again.

@@disusereuse_ApplianceHealer ive followed your stated steps and it seems like it could accept disks but now it shows the blue light while theres nothing in the disk drive. and it wont a eject noise when i press it. any more solutions? sorry to bother you this much btw

@@tk_sefkiller6423 Hmmm, that is difficult to say. Sometimes the center part that holds the disk can be a problem but I don't have any videos on that, I've seen someone use tape to solve this problem, however you would have to look on youtube for another video about that. You may find the information you need. I'm mostly fixing kitchen appliances now and not getting any play stations in the workshop these days. I see someone on another video giving advice that it's stuck in a mode so you have to hold the disk while it's going in and press the eject button while pulling the disk out at the same time. Others say to hold down on the eject button for about 10secconds. Hope you get it sorted out.

Hi! I tried fixing my PS3 but I guess I screwed up. I thik I might have moved the rods out of place while taking out the blue ray drive, so I'm trying this tomorrow. The problem with mine is the noise the drive does when I turn it on, it's like the drive motor spinning trying to get something in place bit there's no disc in, could this be solved by putting all back in place correctly? Or do you have any other advice to solve this? We are in the same boat friend. All I needed to do was clean it, but after reassembly it is making a terrible noise in the disk drive area when powered on and it will not take discs through the normal spot. As if it is hitting a brick wall. I’m not sure what I need to fix. There was a disc in the ps3 while I disassembled it, I removed it manually.
