Zerg here, thanks for the review! Mustangs in round 2 was definitely a mistake. I thought Sabers would be over-countering his Tarantulas while I already had Stormcallers to do that, but Mustangs are trash against every other unit he could've picked in that drop. Considering the options he had, do you think Steel Balls would've been a good pick, or is it Sabers every time? Getting stuck on the idea of carry Mustangs w/Farseer range buff killed me here; that would've killed me against any specialist, not just Elite. Should've abandoned that the second I saw more Tarantulas come down. Your explanation on round 3 was extremely enlightening - I've been overthinking the Elite matchup in the wrong direction. I focused on avoiding baiting the Elite into units I don't want to fight, instead of forcing him into other units I do. TLDR I'm playing too scared. Turn his tempo advantage against him ;) The Sabers on round 5, holy crap I did not realize how strong double-shot is. Definitely gonna keep that one up my sleeve! Thanks again Whooped. Looking forward to that next upload you mentioned, should be a fun one!
I personally would go Sabers here but Steel Balls could work too. Steel Balls and Wasps could be a nice play. They pair well together and you'd have some flanking potential. It would also let you incorporate Wraith if he went Mustangs (or Armor Enhancement on your Steel Balls if you have the tech equipped). He would have a lot to deal with, which is exactly what you want. If you do want to go carry Mustangs in this situation, get EMP on the Storms to remove Field Maintenance (and the potential for Armor Enhancement). Get Range early. Get lvl 1 Attack Enhancement early. And a little later when you can afford it, get AP Bullets and lvl 2 Attack Enhancement. He's beefy, but you'd still be able to do a lot of damage. And if you incorporated something like Acid Scorps, it'd be GGs. In that case, I think it'd be worth it to sell the Farseer to get your Mustangs going sooner so they can get some levels, and then swing back to it later since it's unlocked. Thanks for submitting it and letting me review it. It was a good game.
These videos take me the longest to edit and I also get the fewest views from them 🤣. However, I was a multi-sport coach and a trainer in the business sector, and at one point, I was going to make teaching my career. I love the educational aspect of it and want to help those who want it.
Thanks, Snyde. I appreciate it. I downloaded your replays last night. I'll probably record something tonight or tomorrow. I loved seeing the Saber carry btw. Awesome game.
Bro was so obsessed with Mustangs that I wonder if he has a fetish for Fords. Personally, I think the "Enhancement module free upgrade sell and rebuy" trick is more of an exploit than a strategy and definitely runs against the spirit of the item. It's supposed to give you a boost to an uber-unit you want to carry with by leveling it up several times, not be an economy cheat. I think the developers need to nerf it somehow, probably by making free upgrades not be included in the refund value. Of course, I know every player will scorn me for that opinion and say it's a legitimate strategy, but it seriously feels like cheese, one of those "You MUST take this option every time it becomes available because it's so strong" tricks that I hate (that's why they removed Parasitic Ammo from the game altogether, despite its high cost).
I can absolutely see why you have that take. My view on it is very similar. I believe it's intended to work that way (I could be wrong), but I wish it weren't.
