Made my day to see that you are back. Where have you been, Mike? Now, just stay here and keep doing great tutorials. I am in my mid 50's and learned to play the piano a few years ago from you and now many songs later, still looking to you for tutoring. My wife is still surprised that I am playing the piano. Keep up the good work and many thanks, Mike.
I'm really enjoying this lesson! This song was my first exposure (as a young boy) to music outside of what I heard in my parents home. I used my allowance money to buy Greatest Vol 1, my very first album. While I did start out hammering away on the piano in my parents home, I switched to guitar at age 14, so I've been a guitarist for 45 years. I recently decided to purchase a Yamaha digital piano and learn to play at least some bits and pieces of my favorite piano tunes, and this is among my very favorites. Given my musical background, I know the modes, inversions etc, I've been able to pick this up pretty quick for a relative beginner, no small thanks to your excellent teaching style. Thank you so much
Nifty. I Have looked all over for my Elton John song book from 40 years ago (loved his stuff as a kiddo & saved up my lunch & chore money to buy it). My mother used to keep our old piano books & sheet music, but I can’t find Elton. 🤨 Since Rocketman is all the rage right now, I just have to play his stuff. So you are helping me revive an old favorite. Thank you ever so much.
You've been missed Mike! Amazing what I've learned from you! You're the first teacher I followed on RU-vid, and the best by far! Learned The Great Gig in the Sky first and fell in love with the way it sounded. Practiced it so much, actually being moved by the tone of the piano and the sound you taught me to create. Followed all your Beatles lessons. You seem to love the piano so much, it's just so easy to followmyour train of tought, we're right with you. love it! Make us all better pianists!
Love your lessons and your style of teaching and speed…of course love Elton John all songs as well as some blues piano beginning lessons with left hand slow blues and right hands runs…would love to see some of that type of teaching from you…thanks so much Grant🎹🎶
Mike, I've never played piano. My new years resolution is to try to learn a bit.... I can't believe I just played some chords from an Elton John song! Thank you so much for these videos, I'm subscribing and taking the decision to learn more!
Love your style of lessons…will continue to look forward to your other songs etc…Of course Love as much Elton John music as well as Other great rock of the 70s forward…Lionel Ritchie Stevie Wonder Billy Joel and as much Blues Artist as you can think of…keep up the great work 🎹🎶
Thank you much Mike hope I can pick this up love and always look fwd to your lessons and I'm pretty familiar with the song.. Gonna be a while but I'll chip away and gotta work on left hand thx a bunch please keep em coming
My friend been waiting for this one for a long time, thank you so much. i will be able to correct some notes that I've been missing. i already have a cover of this song in my youtube channel, but I noticed that I've skipping a few notes.
Are you playing a slightly simplified version of what's in that book? I have that same book and it has more octaves in the bass, also the C chord in C/G has 4 notes instead of 3, same with the F chord which are very difficult to play. I was excited to see how you played them.. It's a fantastic tutorial nonetheless. Thank you so much. Oh which pedal are you pushing? The sustain one or the middle one?
