Hello everyone, just to let you know the guys at theft stop have caught up with all the enquiries now so if you’ve not had a reply please check your spam folder. Thanks, Em and Lou.
I put in a really simple locking mod (not my idea, I copied it from someone else) again it won’t stop a thief if they’re determined, but it will slow them down or make them go somewhere else. I’ve got swivelling front seats, so I got a motorcycle disc lock (Oxford Patriot) £55 in a local motorcycle shop, which isn’t the U shaped type it has a 14mm dia pin. All I had to do was drill a 14mm hole through the seat base, I positioned it so with the seat swivelled round facing backwards and the lock fitted there about 6mm of movement of the seat. So unless someone can drive standing up in the narrow gap between the seat back and steering wheel, they would have to get the lock out. It’s position makes it incredibly difficult to pick, leaving the only option grinding off the head of the pin inside the seat base. Very noisy and very limited access. And with the seat turned round the seat cannot be unbolted. The lock may be a little bit fiddly to fit but not too bad, only takes a few seconds.
It may not stop them, but it would certainly slow them down. To cut the pin off would involve an angle grinder inside the seat box, and I’m going to make a reinforcing plate with a rig round the head of the pin to make it even more difficult. The lock body itself is quite a thick thing so would also take time with a grinder making noise. And to pick the lock, it’s in a very awkward position to pick it, it’s even a bit fiddly with the key.
one way to secure your van is if you have a swivel drivers seat, just turn it facing the back and lock it down to the floor. There is no way someone can jump in it and drive with the seat facing back to front. cheers
Criminals look for an easy target. Decent quality visible detergents like deadlocks (forget steering locks and cheap crap like that), are great, because they tend to move on to easier targets.
Very interesting video here and looks a very ‘must have’ item. Production of the video continues to get better and better. All the best. Mal, Dave & Sally the Lab aka The Silvertop Motorhomers
Old SAAB cars had gear lock as standard, I still always leave my car in reverse although I haven't had a SAAB in ages... But they had totally useless locks instead, so I also installed a hidden switch for the fuel pump. Once I came out and the car was broken into, started and driven all about 2 meters before it ran out of fuel.
So good to see your anxiety maybe less intrusive. All I can say is I'm glad your fanny (vanny)is save under lock and key. Chastity belt for the 2021s 🤣 those buns looked great. Do love cinnamon although I tried the spoon challenge once. Never again, the ex missus actually slipped on the powder and she ended up in hospital. I still laugh about it 3 years later. Keep up the good work flowers, take care and be safe 🙂
But...they could potentially still break in and trash your van looking for stuff...for me this is terrifying cos it's a violation of ones living space. I leave decoys...like broken electronics not terribly well hidden. In the hope they smash and grab.
Hi ladies as always perfect video so perfect in fact I've shared it for you with RU-vidr Sacred Traveler-(Becky) As Becky is re-searching security for her brand new Ford van. Happy New Year 2023 to you both ♥️. Enjoy your new upcoming adventure travels but it looks like a cold adventure ☃️☃️ However I will continue to enjoy watching you both take care. Steve from Manchester 🇬🇧 Friendly Notice: Besure to have the correct tools this time round in the event of a wheel/tyre issue, but not to end up like you did in Scotland 🏴 yeah.
We used to have an XR4i and hubby rigged it to start via the cigarette lighter😅 It was pinched but only rolled down the road because they couldn't figure it out😅 He then started taking the steering wheel off too after that. Waking up that morning was wierd .. 'Babe? Why did you park all the way down there?' 😅
Hello Lou and Emily, Betsey Blue Camper here. Do you have a discount code for the Bear lock upgrade and also the electrics you installed into your mums van Tilly? Also looking for sola's and locks and anything else you recommend. Looking for a discount code for a diesel heater and anything for a window. They got thought he window and stole my scooter a few months ago and its really shocked me. Want to get it all done before I leave for Spain this summer. Love you two girls. Sarah and I watch you and we are going through the back catalogue. xxx
Could l please ask you to go to Halfords for some heavy wheel clamps that would stop them from driving away in your van and l would put a mobiliser on your engine then they can't start the enji e
Thanks so much for this vlog, am really interested in getting one for my van. And they said they would still honour your discount code! Are you still happy with it? Good luck with your new adventure -whatever it is 🙂
I noticed Emily saved the sugar rush until after the installation was complete. The last thing you want is a couple of technicians on a sugar rush disassembling and reassembling your van! 😂 Keep up the great videos and above all STAY SAFE! 🚐❤️😷
Hi I’ve just seen this .some thieving parasitises tried to steal my camper van the other week.the only thing that stopped them taking my van was the disklok the trashed that but could not get it off.ive now had dead locks and plates put behind the van door locks.as well as a new disklok.safe travels to you.maybe see you on the road.
Great video guys and them cakes looking amazing. I've never heard about that security system. I saw on another channel that you can get a lock for the drivers seat, so just turn seat around and lock it, and then the the thefts can't even drive off, as seat is facing the other way.
This is almost hilarious I had a switch in my pickup truck freeze up up one time I couldn't get my truck out of park it took me about 2 seconds to realize that I could crawl under my truck pull a pin out of the transmission linkage put it in gear manually and drive it and that's exactly what I did to the repair shop most things are so easily beat GPS will get what's left of your van back cameras may even catch the thieves but the stuff inside will be gone tires rims batteries yeah tripwires with flashbang shotgun shells electrifying the outer shell of your vehicle with a cattle fencer is not a bad idea because if they get the crap shocked out of them they will probably move on
Firstly I have to point out the precision and skill that must have taken , to do that has blown my mind! , Running down stairs in flip flops 😂. Great vlog yous two ,❤️❤️ Must be nice nowing your Fanny's under lock and key now 😉 P.s lovely buns Emily
emily wanted it fitted so her snacks are safe lol great bit off kit just looked at there web site cant believe how cheep it is as well for vans def worth the money hope you all ok ladys all the best donny
If there’s two vans in a car park, one has deadlocks and several other anti theft devices and the other has next to nothing or nothing which van would be easiest? That’s the way I look at it.
Brilliant vlog guys, wow that is an outstanding security device, I'd never heard of that. And agreed, great bunch of tradesmen. Hope you have a great rest of the weekend and week ahead, best wishes and stay safe and well to you both and your families ❤️ 💙 ❤️ 💙 ❤️
Will definitely be considering having this fitted, horrendous how thieves are stealing anything that's not screwed down. Pet theft needs stopping, like you said they are our family, stay safe
This type of system used to be fitted to SAAB cars many years ago. Do they provide a sticker showing the presence of the system. I personally think the most cost effective security is visible stuff - e.g. a hefty steering lock and supplementary door locks to stop thieves getting in in the first place.
Omg I just found you and I hope you realise I've spent the whole day watching your videos and catching up... I've been so amazed at the van build and the great vlogs of your days out. I've had a real VibeFest and I've skipped quite a few, so there are many more yet. Thanks for sharing it all and well done on 1.6K! Ok.. that's the thumbs up..just a prediction 💕
What great guys, it looked like a fun game if van twister, lol. Seriously though, I'm with you, prevention all the way and this seems a stonking idea..you'd def draw attention reversing through a city 🤣 Oh my Emily, the cinnamon buns look soooooo good, I'm going to have to go BUN sniffing now!
👍👍Great move , and they were pre award winning buns from the snack bandit 😂looked a good firm to deal with , less sleepless nights now Lou , take care you pair atb👍👍👌✌🙏😊💖💖🌹🌹
I installed the prickstop: pieces of steel behind the front and backdoor locks. They are way to easy to open with a screwdriver…. Someone stealing the van is 1 thing, but finding the van with a mess inside and your stuff gone is also i’d like to avoid. I also modified an apple airtag (removed the speaker) and installed it somewhere so i have some kind of cheap tracking in case its stolen (or i’m unable to find it on a huge parking or so) As the bearlock like he said: its popular in Holland.. well, since the majority of the insurance companies over here require it to get the vehicle insured… that makes it by default ‘popular’ 😀 My van doesnt have a bearlock (yet) since it’s value is below 25k euro, and my insurance doesnt’t require it for this van, but thats an exeption, higher valued vans do require it, and the majority of them do also require it for ‘cheap’ vans. Another option is a construct. Similar and here in NL also accepted by the majority of the insurance companies. You only need to use it and provide all keys, or they will deny your claim.
Wow what a good anti theft device,I could do with one off these on my Audi. Those buns looked nice send us one up to Yorkshire please? Emily have you tried comfort fit jeans with the elastic waist lol and yes Emily has a nice arse in those jeans.
That's a great theft locking device ! I used to get vansiety too, i have a Clifford alarm immobiliser! there good too, plus full deadlocks! 😇 Might fancy one in mine soon 😄 Buns optional Em! 👍
Very good choice, I have it installed in my van as well. As already mentioned in the video, it was a requirement from the assurance cy in Belgium. After installation I had to register my installation with an attest from the installer directly by Bearlock. I received back two stickers which I put on the windows to show that a Bearlock is installed. Those stickers I received directly from Bearlock. Do you have those and did you put them? Anyway, good luck and a lot of fun.
I saw a video of an electrician that kept getting his tools stolen from his van...so he rigged it so that if anyone tried to open the door....they would get an electrical shock.
We have a lot of usb fans, we don’t travel or go out in the height of the day so we can keep all windows open also we look ahead for weather and park ups so we can find shade for them 😀
I dunno at the end they just need to unlock the key at this point any cheaper mechanical solution will work, I don't see the point in a 2 hour and half installation job.
Anything that slows the would-be thieves down when they’re trying to run off with your van, car or anything else you want to keep hold of, is going to be a good thing ! It all looked very professionally done and the guys certainly looked very happy in their work. The cinnamon buns looked great, there really is no end to the talents you two have between you 😀👍🏼
That is a genius we’ll thought out security device will give you both piece of mind over security. Did they give you any stickers to put in the the window that states this van is fitted with a locking gear stick device?
This is a great idea, I will deffo be getting in touch with these guys. I plan to go full time in my van next month so this is a no brainer security device well needed x
@@campervibe Thanks for the reply! Ah I see, ok. Was just wondering if you took it into the garage with an issue around the shifter or gearbox (or any other nearby component), mechanics might want to avoid working on the unknown? Maybe not an issue, just thinking up reasons not to fork out for this 😂 thanks very much for sharing it.
Upgrading the vehicle's security is always a good idea, a few other suggestions one get tracker fitted another a pedal clamp which immobilizes any pedal you want one of your videos shows that you went to all the trouble of a decent set of wheels and tyres get cextra locking nuts if you have a spare wheel get one for this sadly it is not uncommon for theives to steal these. Make life hard for the low life.
Hi ladies. Lovely cinnamon buns Em. Great heads up on the security. Can I ask how much.? If not no problem. Oh and I thought your Blackpool blog was your best one. Especially Em with her nervous poos. Omg we were in stitches. Keep up the good banter you two. X
Hi ya, yeah sorry we didn't put the price on as it can vary from van to van, and we would like to hope this vid will been seen for some time to come so didn't want to put outdated costs on 😁👍 Glad you enjoyed the Blackpool one 😁
@@campervibe in the meantime a road trip to the Isle of Skye will have to do, if I'm gonna sleep in it to protect it might as well make it worthwhile 😂
