Everybody wants BIG tires, BIG lift...But because of its exceptionally short wheelbase, the Jeep Wrangler TJ presents some special challenges. This video will explain the problems caused by putting too much lift on your TJ without having all the facts....and all the right stuff!

It's all about geometry! This is probably the number one most asked question in all the Jeep forums. How high can I lift? I lifted, now I have drive line vibration...why??? I lifted my TJ 5 inches and the u-joint exploded...why??? Watch the video until the end. This is the answer.

OK, I give high grades for the depth of knowledge. I'd listen more, and again, if there wasn't that horrible background noise. It makes it unwatchable. Imagine that music played in a class setting. It blocks the brain from functioning. You are attempting to teach, and I am impressed. Let us know when you have removed that pointless noise.

Thank you for the feedback Jeff, If there is one thing I've learned in my first year as a RU-vid creator, it's that you can't please everyone. The information in the video is as good as it gets, even though basic geometry is boring as whale feces, most people don't understand the cause and effect of lifting a TJ A remake of the video is pretty much out of the question, as all of my raw footage was lost two weeks ago to a hard drive crash. At this point, I would have to remake all of the videos. Thank you for watching , thank you for the feedback, and i hope you'll check out some of our older videos in the V8 swap wiring series, I promise there's no music.

this may all be true however most people put a 2" trans drop and an engine lift will help. But honestly putting a trans drop in doesn't really help your clearance.

Doesn't help your clearance and if you have a factory transfer case shift linkage, you will mess that up to where you'll need a cable linkage adapter .... thanks for the input and thanks for watching!

For TJ. #1 decide what size tires you want to run. #2 start with a BODY lift 1"- 4", this will retain factory geometry. And, can easily handle 33". With flat fenders you can go bigger (but other upgrades will be needed).

While a 4" body lift will retain factory drive shaft geometry, other things put out of alignment will include your transfer case shift linkage, support for your steering column at the frame just below the brake master cylinder and gas tank filler hose will no longer reach the gas tank for starters.... thanks for watching

@@Jeep_psychology_101 correct. I would rather deal with those issues, which aren’t that big. In the end you get a smoother ride. Who wants to add an extension to the driveshaft? That should be avoided if you can.

@@Jeep_psychology_101 pick your poison, right?

And my poison would be to do the suspension mods for the increased travel and flexibility, sure you can get height for tire clearance with a body lift, but you still have all the limitations of the stock suspension. I still choose the SYE and custom drive shaft combined with longer springs and shocks and ultimately long arms. On this one we'll just have to agree to disagree, I would have never body lifted mine, except for maintaining full suspension travel to accommodate the V8... also I had to fabricate a custom rear bumper to get rid of the ridiculous gap between the body and stock bumper... custom frame mounted rock sliders coming soon to hide the ridiculous gap between the frame and body on the sides... thanks for watching and thanks for the comments
