I'm glad it was an enjoyable listen for you! I also thought the song was about... that. Now that you read Chino's comments, that makes more sense as it's more like his cryptic, dark storytelling. I'm going to take that interpretation because I don't ever want to think of Chino and Maynard wrestling around in a backseat.

I always thought this song was about voyeurism while having sex in a car. Who cares who sees what tonight. Etc. Regardless of what the meaning is it is one of my favorites. All things maynard! I can't remember if you said you heard it before but Judith by a perfect circle is fantastic. The lyrics in that song I relate to

YOU are the Passenger... Like it's a metaphor for The Listener being a passenger to these two great singers performing? They're both great writers and maybe the vehicle is kind of like the mind, and experiencing this great piece of art, and this ride that they're taking you on. With you being the lucky passenger that gets to witness this, besides the buckles and the belts and everything else. Plus since they're lyricist, the witnessing would be listening so again like Maynard sings, who cares who sees anything. Would love to hear your opinion on that perspective Lauren.

Darker theory is just that it's a metaphor for a bad relationship where each person in the relationship becomes a passenger to the other's issues which is a sign that the relationship is not meant to be like what some term a toxic relationship? So it does have like a dark sad undertone but I just can't see the song being about sex and them naming it Passenger. But what do I kno

Deftones’ White Pony album changed my life. I like the dreamy, yet harsh waves of energy. Digital Bath would be a great addition to your list of Deftones songs. Edit: Oh, I found it on your channel. Your video titles are a bit confusing and not as clear as I am used to. I looked for deftones in the title. But I am glad, I found it.

Stop talking and hit play god da*n it! *snickers* jk jk. naw dude, why would i be here if my intent was to just listen to the song. I like seeing people try new stuff and i like trying new stuff myself. Half the enjoyment of that is sometimes it sticks and is good, sometimes it isn't. If i wanted a yes man to all my suggestions, i would just listen to music alone, since I like everything I like (suprise suprise!) However; yes I agree with you listening to the song a second time without pausing. Songs are meant to flow through to the end, so it gives you a better impression of the bands full 'vision'. So it is a good thing you do that most reactors don't. I like your channel, so far, and am checking out all of your reviews BECAUSE you are being honest and not faking stuff. And I suspect if you gather a following, that will be the reason why. Just keep being fair and legitimately looking over the music, and reach your own conclussions!

To me this song embodies from the beginning the heady rush of endorphins and absolute disregard for anything except the immediate, which you described as “something landing”. I took at as the rush of blood and how your head swoons under extreme stimulation. Then the rest of the song is pretty self explanatory. I think in this instance Chino’s sultry vocals play as the lying snake that is at once submissive, but in result drives the aggressor (Maynard) to his eventual hysteria. Kind of like the female character controlling the male character into being the aggressor and forgetting himself, succumbing to the passive female, which results in the male actually being the passenger and the female being the driving force. This could apply to any relationship with a manipulative agent. I didn’t really like this song at first and thought it was overrated due to Maynards presence, but I grew to appreciate it.
