I'm proud to have a daughter. My daughter is my trust.....Islam liberated women 1400 years ago but some culprit men still treat their daughter as inferior object ! Treat your daughter with respect, abundance and love not with misery and burdened so that when she grow up she already feel empowered and happy not at constant state of antagonism and egocentric!

I can remember a couple of years ago when my non muslim neighbour had a son and I once over heard her talking to someone about the fact that having a son is better than a daughter and that its less troublesome and stuff. It just reminded me about the hadith I once heard that Islam began strange and it shall go back to being strange so give glad tidings to the strangers. And subhanallah, we are but going back to the time of the Jahilliyah indeed and the world is coming closer to its end. May Allah protect us all from the fitna of these times especially the dajjal and guide us all, ameen

Come on now, the context is totally different. Your non-Muslim neighbor was prolly making a totally different point: sons are less high-maintenance than (teenage) girls. It's not the same as "children are future assets and so I'm ashamed i have a daughter instead of a son".

Before Islam the Arabs were in a state of ignorance to any sort of religion but were into idolatry (approx 365 idols inside the kaaba and their worship was done in a state of nakedness). There's a story of how two men would argue over a passing women's pregnancy and would place a bet as to the sex of the child then would just split her stomach to see who had won. Many of these and worse instances were the norm for these people, so much so that it is said that no king was ready to rule over them. This is when Allah had revealed amongst the highest clan of these people a Messenger (peace be upon him) who brought light into the darkness and taught them from what he had been taught by Allah through the best of all angels and his name is Jibraeel or in English Angel Gabriel.

The Sheikh (Jzah Allah Kheer) didn't mention the story accurately, at first the girl when she died weren't a child, but became a young woman, and some people came want to propose marriage her because she was very beautiful. The father lied to the mother and said he will go to his relatives and wants his daughter to come with him, but the mother refused because she was afraid that her husband will kill her daughter, but the father gave a promise to the mother that he wouldn't harm his daughter. But in the end he threw his daughter in the well. This's the correct story.

When we were born in this World nobody knows what's our fates except Allah as he created us with different life stories some are very lucky some are not .We are tested with different kinds of hardships or difficulties in life as only he Knew our shortcomings or strength. If Allah love us more and he know our strength can withhold major problems your life will never be easy. Lots of trials will come our ways as many people with hardest or greatest hardships will understand what lm saying. For those who are living a good and comfortable life they won't understand it only Allah. Its very hard to explain what you asked but if you are in my position only you will know . Allah didn't put anybody in my life to love me but just to test me whether my lmam is stronger to Allah or not . Allah created us so he knows lm only closer to him not even my parents they can't love like how other parents love their children but only Allah. So sad subhaana'Allah.I remembe when i first heard this is really disturbed me.This is why they were called the days of ignorance i guess,the things people did where so wrong and devoid of any real moral basis.This shocks us but please be aware that there are still people who do this in some poor villages in south Asia due to the idea that daughters are a financial burden and a liability and perhaps some less known places either way there is probably a family somewhere whose ignorance of the deen has them contemplating this right now although they profess Islam,1400 years after the Prophet Sallalaahi alayhi wasalam encountered this incident and the Quran spoke about the day the little babygirl will ask for what sin she was killed for.illah howla wala quwati illa billah.May Allah grant these people knowledge ameen,and help us to spread Ilm ameen

Whoever this Sahabi may be, that was before Islam and as much as I condemn what he did, those people had no light, they lived in total ignorance. But Islam came and changed all that. AlhamdulilAllah. It was a cowardly act done by the father and the prophet pbuh displayed normal emotions. He was human after all. Most fathers would have killed themselves instead of harming their kids... it was a cowardly selfish act however Allah had already decided to forgive the previous sins after accepting islam so the prophet pbuh could not punish him.
