I believe in another mic-using game, he pointed out that it was picking up the sound of a bit of different equipment he has for his computer, which could be the case as well. But it could really simply be that his microphone sensitivity is lower. They use discord to make videos together and most mic-prox games have volume options for each player, so he could've changed settings around so we could hear them better.
