Thanks for the honesty about things not going well - Cruising is not always sunshine and roses - and when things get exciting it's unlikely to pick up a camera to record the moment. You did a great job of explaining the lead-up and reality of an "event" with enough footage to bring it home. Glad you got out of it with just some gained experience.

Happy you liked it! All experiences in life have their good and bad sides. This one had a couple of pretty bad ones. But the good ones still outran the bad :D A

Thank you for publishing such an honest video about cruising. I think every sailor has had these sort of moments. I've had a few. Glad you came through it unscathed

Our pleasure! Reality isn't always sunny. But as long as you can laugh about it afterwords, it's all not that bad hehe :D

You should be so proud of yourselves managing that crossing the way you did! Nobody can understand how exhausting it is with seasickness, rolling waves and a crying baby on top of problems of different kind. You are real fearless explorers! And you have proven a mental toughness that can bring you wherever you want to go. Keep on! :) Regards from Norwegian Sailor

Ryan: oh mate…. I’m so sorry!!! I know the stories, but watching it is like whoa…. I know how you felt, I know what it was like, but to watching it just puts it all in perspective of how tough your crossing was! Wish I could have towed you guys at the end there!!! 😬😔 anyway, this was great, felt like I was watching a documentary on discovery channel 😁

Welcome back! Well done to you for being honest about the mistakes. You didn't sink. So you learnt instead. I'd call that a success! You are the better sailors for it. And you will know how to avoid the same pitfalls again. So, once again, well done! (We'll talk about endangering life and potentially damaging other boats later ;-) ...

Thank you for talking through this (little?) avalanche of problems. It's a credit to you both that you're comfortable with sharing the problems and the build up to them. You've offered great insights. Well done for coping. It's not easy. A thought I'm having - friends of ours who are very experienced always check boats that are coming into the anchorage, to see which anchor they have. If it's a Delta, they move well away. On Snow Gum we had a Spade anchor of the smallest size recommended for our boat; only 25kg. It never failed to hold perfectly, in five to one scope or less. It was light enough for me to lift and carry - also important. So if aliens steal your anchor one day, have a look at a Spade. 🙂 Regards, Rick.

wow great video you guys! we know how difficult this crossing was for you all, my heart broke seeing the footage when you yelled back to us and we didn't hear you! I remember thinking at the time you were just rock starring it back to a prime spot you found, I remember telling Ryan we should leave you guys to it because you probably wanted to just focus on anchoring without the distraction of us hahaha little did we know what was really going on!

huge lesson here... I alway argue that we must be anchored well before sunset or stau at sea. (which is hard to plane if its a many day journey) but sometimes its just murphies law and all goes wrong.... racing between anchor chain, makes sense as the boats are behind their anchor btw.. anyway good you're all safe

Small mistakes do tend to pile up and turn into big problems. Rarely more clearly defined than this recounting of your experience. The video, which I know is not the quality you want, excentuates the speed at which things unfold. That actually makes the video perfect! Not taking a dig at anyone but only a the small percentage of people on the planet who actually do things ever experience this. I really wish you could have continued sailing. I can relate to the size and level of preparation of Blue. I also feel like your approach and you attitude is realistic. OK, so this episode is not fun and a little terrifying. But still very good. Thank you..
@seethelittlethings

aaah they do tend to pile up! Too bad you are not really aware of it in the moment hehe. We wished we couldve continued too :) but life is long and we got plans to go back for sure! Thanks for sticking around

How on earth you managed to keep a camera rolling throughout the turmoil. I wasn’t at all surprised to see your errors. You were exhausted. Lovely to see you all again though, and my subscription will remain. Ready for anything you post next. Be kind to yourselves. 💙💙💙

Welcome back guys! And yeah, wow, comedy of exhausted errors, eh? I remember the shock of realizing how many important routines have gone rusty, when you suddenly have to transition back from once-a-day ocean navigation to coastwise and final approach… glad you landed safely in the end!

Ha I like that wording, comedy of exhausted errors. Sums it up pretty good! But right, life gets slow out on the ocean. It's a bit of a shift back to reality ;)

You had said the seas were not very rough on your crossing. Definitely less than we get between St Vincent and St Lucia. We hope your family is doing good. We head back to launch our boat in Grenada next week Paul & Anne SY L’Acadienne

Advertising throughout and as if that was not enough they decided to annoy any remaining subscribers by inserting their own sales pitch for knives. There are lots of good sailing channels with no Advertising and No sales pitches. Altogether very annoying.
