If there's anyone I think people should listen to, it'll be John Brzenk. Still looks like a normal human being, and is still in the sport after 40 years. He literally lays out the blueprint of longevity and greatness in this video Thanks for sharing this with the rest of us Larry
If you're naturally stronger than everyone, and don't need PEDs for it either, you're not going to tax your body as much via competitive armwrestling. If you're not naturally the strongest, but a slimy weasel willing to cheat to gain an advantage, like Devon or Travis, you're also going to last - until you go up against Levan :) And if you're like MMT and not naturally the strongest, not very smart, but stubborn enough to want to be the best, then you're absolutely going to destroy your body via armwrestling :)
Thankfully John started in an era where steroids weren't used in arm-wrestling, but as Travis put it, nobody could beat John without them, so in enter the PEDs - around the 00s.
John is a prodigy and an incredible talent. His advice works for HIM, but wont work for many. He doesnt do weights, he doesnt warm up before the matches. DO I even need to continue? Yes, there will be gems of knowledge here and there, but when it comes to training, listen to a hardworker.
@MdoubleHB Thats guaranteed for you vegan lunatics. Humans are omnivores, we thrive when eating a versatile diet. Not when cutting out one of the most important part of a healthy diet. You always can spot a vegan even if theyre quiet, they look sickly.
John is correct when he states starting early is the way to go. For some reason my connective tissue structure is good for armwrestling. I did not start until i was 38. I won a usaa amatuer national event my first yr in 220-242, a local WAL event at the same weight. At 39 I went pro and was Oklahoma state champ at 220-242 in 2021 and 2022. Won a bunch of smaller events here and there as well. All this being said, my joints have been the weak link. Elbow and shoulder issues have prevented me from competing as much as i have wanted to. So, it is much better to start at an early age and get every part of your body conditioned for the sport if thats what you really want to do.
John is so humble and likeable, you see the respect he has for Devon, he must have felt something incredible when they gripped up a few months back. I wonder what he thinks of all this childish back and forth from Devon, Mike and Jerry.
@@cristianflorin5970 because Devon offered to pull him in the next couple weeks and he knows he cant beat Devon so he uses Genadi as an excuse, and then if Genadi wins, he has the next excuse, Same as Michael Todd, nothing but excuses and conditions, aka "Ducking"
At 4:05 John says Irakli instead of relaxed by accident. That loss clearly fresh in his mind. Amazing how seriously he still takes the sport after 40 years.
The Goooooat, the Myth, the Man, the Legend himself. Good luck on ya match with Dennis. Dennis is a super awesome humble feller and so is John.. gonna be a great match and seeing Dennis get tested and oh he will lol.. will be awesome to watch. Maybe Dennis and Levan within the year?
Brzenk truly is the goat, I hope after the Dennis match he takes some time off and tries to get some help with these lingering Covid effects, his shortness of breath is alarming.
The amount of times I replay that intro in my mind when I’m on last 3 reps of the last set is amazing -SOMEBODY SOMEWHERE IS WORKING HARDER THAN YOU RIGHT NOW -NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! LETSGOOOOO
@@lmdoinraysmom Showing up everyday IS working harder than the next guy. Showing up 2x a day is working even harder. Its relative, but the gist is putting more work in than your opponent. AW, MMA, jiu jitsu, boxing, it applies to almost all sports and contests.
@@greasebob well lifting weights is different to most sports whether its bodybuilding or powerlifting. More is not better. I agree that in boxing you can work harder but lifting not really. You apply that same logic to barbell stuff you won’t get better in most cases but instead fucked up and weak.
The guy saying that is the ultimate hype guy, lol. Have you seen the videos where he and Larry are working out together?? If not, you need to see them, lol. The dude is insane!
John looks to be thickening up again for Dennis, I heard he’s not Feeling well but doesn’t want to use that as an excuse to back out, which I find awesome and shows his dedication to the fight. I do think Dennis is on a mission to take down the beast we know as Levan, guess we’ll see soon !!!
Damn I’d like to meet and Grip up with John before he’s officially retired or honestly ever. Not only is he the G.O.A.T. Of armwresting as well as a person from what I’ve seen. So humble, and will help to teach and improve yourself.
He's almost 60 but he can make armwrestler who half his age struggle a lot like Irakhli and Petrenko I can't wait watch him against Denis, but i have feeling Denis would be winning this match
How you two met each other through armwrestling also shows a virtue of the sport. John once said the vast majority of everyone he knows came from this sport. So, it seems like a good activity for men, especially, strength-wise and socially.
@Lagia It's possible, but he'd have to overcome some real killers. It's weird, though. All the super elite guys at heavyweight and above are old timers in the sport and outside of 2 guys in the Super heavyweight division I'm unsure of who's going to take the crown when the old guys call it quit.
I actually broke my arm in the same place as John armwrestling when I was 12. When it healed no one in my whole high school at 14 could beat me armwrestling right handed. I tried so hard to get into but my family was poor so I had no way now I'm about to be 34 and it's still one of my only dreams left. Id give anything to get help iv never worked out but I'm starting with all I have which would be embarrassing to mention. My dream would be to at least enter a tournament but also be prepared bc I'm not exactly young either
I could listen John and Larry talking over and over again. John is the GOAT of arm wrestling. Larry in the future may be the GOAT of... hmm... some disciplines and I`m not talking only about sports.
This is why armwrestling is awesome. It isn't like bodybuilding where there's a well known lifting protocol. Everyone is different. With different styles and so many different variables.
Larry pls ask John about his brother Bill Breznk and post the video. Where is he now? And about Johns father is he with John? Does anybody have an idea.
@ approximately 9mins20secs into the video, Larry had his left arm fully extended while leaning against the table and.. .. ... . . , , all I can think of is... . . .. Damn his bicep peak is better than most of ours fully flexed!!! 🤯😱 lol Lui Marco would say.. ... PROPPAHHHHHH! hahahha
Larry, how about coming up with a strength and conditioning plan for John to improve his strength and endurance. I think he needs some help in what to do especially for cardio which is ultimately what's holding him back from being the champ again.
I hope John is okay. Sounds like he’s asthmatic when he’s just putting sentences together! I’m probably one of the few who thinks he can give Denis a good match. With johns hand size and back pressure and Denis being on the slower side of things on the ready go gives John that window to attack the fingers straight off the go. But who knows just want John to be safe and have fun. Win or lose he’s a pleasure to watch on the table
Pound 4 Pound Brzenk is in a class all by himself. Levan is like 400 LBS and has 24" biceps, Denis is over 300 LBS with like 21" biceps, just massive dudes. John is like 220 LBS with maybe 17" biceps. He's a normal sized dude, but with freakish strength
I love John! He's definitely my favorite arm wrestler, and the best that's ever done it. But concerned for him with his Denis match. Was already concerned even if he was healthy, but he still doesn't sound good, and is definitely under the weather. I fear Denis will destroy him 6-0, in the way that Levan destroyed Devon.
5:00 darn it, it seems like John still has a stubborn cold. Time to ramp up the immunity protocol, buddy -- gargle with hot salt water several times a day, get more vitamin C & D, apples, grapefruits, salmon, bone broth, tons of sleep, etc. We don't want Denis to face still-lingering-cold John, if possible. ;)
