Welcome to the Miami Boat Ramps channel. We are dedicated to bringing you all the craziness that goes on at the boat ramps in South Florida! Sit back and enjoy the show!
Ramps we currently cover: 79st (La 79!) / Black Point Marina / Haulover
We are working on adding 2 more ramps to the roster. Stay tuned!
Don't forget to hit the like button, subscribe and leave us a comment. If you don't, we're coming to steal your drain plug!
Also be sure to check out our other channels

Disclaimer : We receive a ton of emails and messages from people telling us we filmed them at the ramp this past weekend and they want to know when the video will air. This is not a question we can typically answer. We film from three or more ramps every week and have a massive back log of content and sometime it could be weeks or months after an event occurs before we air the video. We put stuff out as fast as we can but we only air three videos a week and in a typical weekend get 6-10 episodes worth of content meaning we get content faster then we can air it. Thanks for watching and just be sure to keep watching looking for your content it will air but probably not immediately after it happens!

I think all these captains need to watch your channel for docking tips. I looked like a pro the first time out because of this channel. Was watching for a few months before spring boat buy.

And what with only one line approach?
@SARDOGFL
@SARDOGFL 6 месяцев назад
@@bessarion1771one line is all you need for an initial approach - a midships line to a piling or dock cleat will hold a vessel parallel and tight to the dock until other lines can be added. I do it all the time when single-handing, and you'll see FWC and other official boats do it all the time. Boats that don't have midships cleats, should probably add them. That boat did.

I really like the play by play style of the commentator. Also, it's easy to say what the boat driver should do. But wind and current can really mess you up. Plan the attack and try to use the wind and current to help instead of fighting it.

I disagree in 1:30 with the easiest approach is the step over and grep a bowline. Better than the step: attach the sternline (not too short), and put the engine in slow forward. The bow swings to the dock and the rotation could be controlled by putting the engine back to neutral.
@bobcosgrove3235
@bobcosgrove3235 6 месяцев назад
I used to use this method docking my boat in space 1 foot longer then my boat between 2 other boats. Works every time.
@internetjunkie1000
@internetjunkie1000 6 месяцев назад
What if you have one line that is attached at the bow and stern? This is the way my boat is set up so that when you pull on it from the ramp, both the bow and stern come towards you.
@olehinz
@olehinz 6 месяцев назад
@@internetjunkie1000 In this case, the stern line was already ready and needs just to be used. And it is the easiest and most secure variant that comes to my mind during watching this video. There are a lot of possibilities to dock with a boat. I never tested the "one line from bow to stern" approach because I don't like to plan a maneuver where someone jumps on the dock while the boat is not secured with lines. This is my personal preference.

@KevinAClassA

Agree my friend. Every single time I go with more than two not including myself, I always go over the procedure to tie up the vessel to the dock properly. Assigning a person to the Bow and one to the stern, and they have control over (Port or Starboard). I handle the operation of boat. Everyone has a job and there are backup plans to the plan. Never to safe.

Is it against the law in Florida to not steer and use opposing engine force when docking? People have no idea how to dock? In the beginning he could’ve tie off the stern and brought it forward with very little effort… 😂

In his defense, thats a high freeboard on the boat with side windows, making it a big sail. In the stready wind like that, it can be challenging. Its certainly much easier to dock on the windwars side of the dock. That being said, a simple Coast Guard safe boating course would give him techniques to deal with it.

If you mean the bungie that is appropriately sized for holding a washing machine on top of an SUV, that is being used on a light rod in a center/amidship rodholder that therefore needs no bungie at all, then we are seeing the same thing

It is odd that many of these boats with dual motors have so much difficulty docking. A knowledgeable captain can pivot the boat easily by using the motors individually. But then again, why would you have a line in your hand that is not tied to a cleat?

What's up with the little boats? do they not have the abilitly to split the controls between engines? Like port motor in FWD starboard in REV? Walk it right up to the dock? Or do we just not show those videos becaus it isn't good entertainment? My only expierence is on bigger fishing boats. That is standard procedure...

people need to understand that when you have 2 motors!! You don’t need to be touching the wheel drive the boat like a track hoe! One motor will turn the boat. Right and the other will turn it left……It’s that easy!!!! People need to go out in open water and practice of how this maneuvers the boat!!!!!!!
