I highly recommend to not go to UC Berkeley if you are not able to learn things on your own. During the second year at Cal, you'll be put on the strictest grading curve. That is, if you are in the middle of the pack, you'll receive a C. This is how the departments like the engineering departments and College of Chemistry weed out the students. It is not uncommon to see an incoming number of freshman cut down by at least 2/3 by the time they graduate. Let this sink in. The flip side is should you decide to apply to graduate schools (NOT Berkeley as they don't accept their own undergraduates), the graduate schools will add a "Berkeley factor" by giving you about 0.2 on your overall GPA so a Berkeley student applying with a 3.4 GPA will be pitted against students from other schools with 3.6 GPA.

Very informative, thank you! Highly recommended this video to those wanting to apply to all the UCs next year. Wish I had found this video earlier cause my daughter is going to college this summer.

The international and OOS numbers for mid UCs pisses me off. Why do I pay so much California tax?!?! To make china great again??!

It’s all about the money. My son got accepted by all out of state schools of similar caliber, but not the UC schools. Make these schools refund the tax dollars to parents who paid taxes to the UC schools for years but whose children are rejected for not paying as much as out of state or international counterparts

So true. UC Irvine is especially guilty of that, accepting out of state students at a higher rate than in state. They do some shady things.

@@bpxl53yewz29 I think it’s more fair that all the taxes paid by parents should be put into a basic income fund for all in-state children of all backgrounds, regardless of them going to colleges or trade school or just work right out of high school. Charge one single tuition rate that everyone has to pay out of pocket, whether instate or not.
