So sad that Californians and New Yorkers have moved to small towns and jacked prices up so high.

Big money (BlackRock, Vanguard) is NOT defined by citizens from those states! So sad that YOU see fellow countrymen as anything but welcome. Of course, should you claim victimization (willful ignorance, confirmation bias), you can deny/deflect accountability. *_DUH !_*

Native Texan and in my 65 years the Hill Country went from Beautiful and serene , to Urban Spall and the" Good Ole Day's " are just that , my first trip to Lake Marble Falls (1966 ) there where maybe a dozen beach style homes and the Lake was wide open , well today both LBJ and Marble Falls are a disaster all Summer long , I am glad that my Dad isn't here to see it , it would depress him with the crowds and their behavior !

You must be easy to satisfy that's the biggest most disappointing tourist trap... It used to be great it's like all the Cooper's BBQs... You must be a glutton for punishment and enjoy tourist traps!

IF that is truly how your property taxes work in Texas than you need to fight for reform. In more parts of the world property taxes are dictated by a city budget divided by total property value. A rise in average house price would not equal a rise in taxes.

Yes, we have never seen property values double within a year or two in Texas and a few months ago Greg Abbott signed a new bill into law that cuts property taxes for next year. gov.texas.gov/news/post/governor-abbott-signs-largest-property-tax-cut-in-texas-history

@@livingindrippingspringstexas Do you not have assessed values for property taxes? None of the bills in that link will address the issue you described. Seems weird to me to have a State law offset or dictate municipal taxes.

@@MrWookie1981 Yes, Texas is a non-disclosure state so the closed prices of homes are not shared with the public and the assessor has to guess the values since they can't see the closed sales numbers. Although there is speculation that someone gave them a login to the MLS and they were able to see the closed values. The county assess the properties values, but because so many people moved here when inventory was so low and bid up the homes by hundreds of thousands of dollars multiple times in a row it inflated the entire area's appraisals and then tax valuations shot through the roof. They have recently been able to protest them down now because as the rates were raised it sidelined so many buyers from being able to afford the homes that they could have afforded with 3-4% rates and so now prices have been coming down since last fall. I imagine next year everyone will protest them down further. The local CAD website was actually down the first few days you could protest because everyone was protesting all at once. The governor raised the homestead exemption amount to give a tax break to people in their primary residence. Dripping is so tax rich that they have to give much of their school tax revenue to "recapture" to help underfunded schools in the state.

2.2% is nothing. I pay 3.5-% just north of Houston, and I’m surrounded by ghettos.

Wow. She has so many negative thoughts about Dripping Springs and yet, at the end of the video she'll tell you that her family, "has been transformed" while living there. Lady, move! No one is keeping you there! I grew up Drippin'. Yes, it has changed since 1985. And, that's why I no longer live there. But, I'm not far either. I love how new people can come in and talk about how it's negative this and negative that... like coyotes don't live anywhere else. Ridiculous.

True…this video is from a newcomer. I grew up in Drip and graduated in 87. We didn’t have a Dairy Queen back then and no stop light.
