Maybe it’s just me but I think Senshi was pissed because the cat girl was picky and threw the mushroom away and Senshi’s personal philosophy is all about “do-not-waste-food&respect-what-you-eat.”

The adult elf woman in the paintings was Marcille's mom, they look a lot alike but you can tell the difference because Momcille's ears come to sharper points.

Izutsumis story develops as more time passes , so please avoid spoilers and let Nerdy and those who haven’t seen the manga find out for themselves. Iztusumi herself will explain how her childhood was in the next episodes.

Yeah, I can think of few episodes more critical to the plot than the nightmare. Marcille's fear of losing loved ones to death, Laios's continuous rejection by his peers and loved ones, and the book. That damn book.

The spoon thing wasn't cultural though. Thats why Senshi kept pointing out how there is a right and a wrong way to use a tool. There is a right and a wrong way to hold a knife, and similarly, holding a spoon correctly is not a matter of culture, but simply a matter of good technique. On the matter of who transformed her, the catgirl said that she couldn't find anyone who knew Dark Magic, so presumably Shuro's group aren't the ones who did it, but merely the ones who took her in (in servitude, putting the curse around her neck) after the fact. Her situation being so concerning to them might've even been why Shuro was so outspoken about how bad Dark Magic was.

Enslaved you mean? If they were concerned for her, why would they put a curse on her to kill her if she tried to leave?

My guess for Izutsumi covering herself this entire time would be because other people could realize she is a chimera Which would give people assumption of Shuro's team is involving with ancient magic For the collar spell, it would be a backup spell in case she runs away and people realizing she is a chimera

With Itsuzumi it isn't a cultural thing with the way she eats they've said that Shuro eats properly without making such a mess. It's like when a child is eating with a spoon. You wanna let them know that there's a right way to use said utensil to ensure that the food doesn't fall out every time you go to take a bite. It may have been different if she said that she'd rather eat with her hands but she was trying to use the spoon to the best of her ability. Also I am pretty sussed by the people working under shuro because wtf??? They have this cursed child bound to them and even though they knew she'd be attacked by the collar if she didn't stay by them Shuro just decided to leave her behind. Idk seems weird to me...

This is actually the single most important episode for the plot we have so far, and only the second most in the whole of Season 1. That nightmare section, both thematically and in the background, and even foreground details, will be important for the rest of the story. Keep it in the back of your mind! PS: Chimera Falin directly references FMA in one pannel, so the FMA vibes are intended!

To be fair to Senshi, Laios did ask what the audience was thinking about whether Izutsumi's bad eating habit was a cultural thing, to which Chilchuck dismissed because he remembered Shuro having excellent table manners. Now to be UN-fair to Senshi, maybe he should have waited to lecture Izutsumi over basic food etiquette when she was no longer holding Marcille hostage, or if they weren't in the middle of a delicate operation dispelling the (unknown as of the time) curse around Izutsumi's neck. The guy's got strange priorities.

To give an honest personal opinion, where I'm only making a statement about myself. I do have a hard time of being critical of other cultures. I mean, I can disagree with them personally, but I rarely criticize them. It has to be something extreme like slavery, child-to-adult marriages, excluding a population from having political participation and liberty, but even then I usually feel like I don't want to contribute much to the change of those people. I think the only way I would want to change it, would be if there was an argument that I or my government contribute/ed to it. I usually feel like I'm leaning into colonial ideas if I try to judge other cultures a little too much, even if I don't understand them.

There are elements in this episode that are key to the final part of the story. In fact, there are background elements within the dungeon that we've been seeing that actually hint at a bunch of things that we likely won't even get to in the remaining episodes of season 1.

Spoilery question for the manga. . . . . Two episodes from now is when I expect the golden country to be introduced, and with it, the lion. Is this what you are referring to, or are there other background details in the dungeon that I am forgetting?
@Regenmacher175

@@michaelcreel6522 That's the element I was thinking of. The other aspect has to do with Marcille's fears expressed in this episode and how they will factor into the rest of the story.

It was said that maizuru used to put that collar spell on shuro when hes small to prevent kid from losing(also kinda traumatized him with it tho) so that probably why she also put it on izutsumi? a really problematic way to watch the child

What makes the situation even worse is that she didn't tell Shuro that she put a spell on him, which resulted in Shuro thinking there was a seemingly invincible ghost chasing him.
@Ash_Yu
@Ash_Yu 3 месяца назад
I don't believe it was the same exact collar. There's no way Maizuru would want the young lord to get stabbed. That hag looked deadly. Also Izutsumi was afraid of it enough to not run away until she found a mage that could remove it. We should be able to call it like it is, Izutsumi was a slave. It was even said that she and Tade were bought.

Hey man, good on you for figuring out what your problem with Laios was. That kind of introspection about being stuck in front of a possibly unflattering mirror like that is rough and not everybody’s up to it, let alone to doing it publicly on their RU-vid channel! Mad respect!

It is not bad to view separating the souls of the chimera like unscrambling an omelet. Marcielle's Fear is the mortality of her loved ones ... Time. 🤔Frieten: "First time?" You seem to be making a very unsupported Leap into assuming that Shuro's party had anything to do with the catgirl's curse. Yeah he's a samurai of a noble house and has retainers but that doesn't mean he's been abducting people and experimenting on them. It could be a factor of Shinobi training, And she didn't know what she was getting into. She could have been cursed and found shinobi training as the only acceptable life for her going forward. For an oriental adventure (Kara-Tur / Khitai) setting Shuro's family seems to be very cosmopolitan about who they choose to employ. Maybe roll back your nobility bias. 🧐
