Yes, you have the right to dislike things, but this episode reaction was trash, maybe you should reflect on yourself and come down from your purist throne. But more likely is "oh my goodness the one piece community is so toxic they don't accept other opinions".
This guy really said he would have cut the most important part of the arc , the entire point of the saga and one of the most important parts of One Piece, lol. Just stop watching at this point, if all you want is fights.

It's okay , just remember : you have not even started the best arcs of one piece yet and there are multiple , even if you don't like anything until now (which I know is not the case) , you still cannot decide or jump to conclusions for anything in One piece , be patient to watch the good arcs , you are still too early in the story
WE know. His decedents diving for his treasure do NOT know. Something you will hopefully learn to appreciate is Oda made a world where life still happens when the straw hats aren't there. People live their lives, stuff happens, etc. This backstory is as much to give context to the Shandian's point of view and beliefs as it is to give weight to his decedents pursuing the truth of his legacy.
Trust in Goda! He knows what he's doing with the story. Also, it helps to keep in mind that this isn't a typical shonen. It's not about the power scaling or the fights - it's about the meaning behind the fights. Luffy has no real stakes in fighting Eneru right now. The crew got back together a while ago, they could have just left. They aren't invested in the country in the way that they were with Vivi... this backstory gives Luffy a reason to fight.
I just find it odd for a person who complains that the fights have no "weight" to them because damage is meaningless, disregards the story that is intended to give the fight weight. not having this flashback would like skipping Sanji's flashback
y'all seem to forget that we have the full context of not only this backstory, but this whole arc as well. not to mention most of us probably binged this whole backstory and more in one sitting. these were two pretty dry stand alone episodes.
This reminds me that people forget one piece is actually a completely cohesive single story and the arcs aid in developing it and shouldnt be ostracized. Details in the flashback are still relevant in the current arcs 😢. (Nearly) everything matters.

Bro... With all due respect... This is one of those times you LET THE STORY TALK. Or as Oda's audience would say let Oda cook. We are 400 years ago let's learn some history. I am a MASSIVE fan of Noland and Kalgara so this SHOCKED me.
Nerdy imagine reading the manga, must flashbacks take months n are always at the pick action parts of the arc’s. The issue is that most flashbacks are extremely important in the show, not almost all occasions getting some of the great info drops we get about the biggest question fans have. Trust me most people hate them n love them at the same time, they have great pay off, but always breaks the pacing of the show, specially since they normally occur at the climax of of arcs after we already had been waiting months if not years to reach n the moment we do n things star gets good a flashback comes with great info dumps n cool action scenes that will enhance the Climax ones we return. Just be grateful u don’t have to wait as much as we did.
This is one of the most braindead takes I’ve ever seen on this. It’s clearly not over and it’s relevance is about to be dropped on you. Not just for the immediate fight coming back but also the future. What in one piece would make you believe that there aren’t advanced civilizations when you’ve literally been to an island stuck in time… one piece history is not our history. Anything more said would induce spoilers. It’s like the details aren’t sinking in. Anyone who says it’s misplaced is categorically wrong. You literally get the shot of wyper and aisa watching their current and ancestral homes being destroyed by enel then jumps into the history of their people and the conflict that set this all in motion that will connect and collide wyper/shandians to the strawhats and the promise to noland his descendants.
The thing is that for as much as he obviously has a right to have his opinions, what frustrates us as audience is that he has a habit of calling “stupid” things he doesn’t understand immediately, where he doesn’t get it either because he actually missed out on something earlier or just doesn’t see how something can be of overall relevance or make sense later. He fixates on how he expects things to go and when they turn out differently he’s often disappointed and ends up shitting on shows. The funny part is that plenty of times where he had gotten really frustrated with something happening that he didn’t agree with/see the sense of he then actually liked it after the thing was settled/ explained shortly after. The way he can sometimes see the nuance and appreciate the important little story details and others just terribly misunderstand or not see things that I think are as clear as the sky really baffles me hahaha ( and irritates when he shits on stuff because it didn’t turn out like he tried to predict 13 episodes before ) peace
Nerdy, you have all the rights to feel as you do, but I’m starting to think again that one piece might not be for you. It feels like your preference is to have things paired down to their absolute essentials, and when we deviate you lose interest. That’s pretty core to what makes the show special. If that annoys you, this is gonna be a long road for you and I’m sorry for the pain it will cause.

I also enjoyed this backstory, but I'm more of a casual one piece fan and recently started getting back into it and I am at another arc in the future that people hyped to death and I found it so boring I had to skip forward tenths of episodes sometimes, while other people swear up and down it's the most compelling thing. Love your honest reactions and I feel like the placement criticism of the flashback is suuuper understandable. You were hyped for a fight and got 3 unexpected eps of lore, i would have been pissed too
