Let's make this flash the new X-100V, everyone needs to know how good this little flash is for street photography. I've paid 30 dollars for a used one to put on my X-Pro 2

Eric it's funny that you posted this video, I got my EF-X8 when I bought my XT2 and thought why did they send this little flash, and for a few years i never even tried it. One day during a photoshoot the batteries died on my flash, in a pinch and never using the EF-X8 i put it on on XPro2, WOW was I surprised, I couldn't believe how well it preformed. I totally agree with you don't underestimate this little gem, it stays in my camera bag now. Again thanks for sharing and your images look great!

Great video. I adjusted the flash TTL setting to the one you have LOL thanks buddy it is good. Oh btw, good luck with whittling down your camera gears from 3 to 2 or 1. I have a Fujifilm XT1, and a Canon SL1. I've gotten rid of Nikon full frame setup. Just me. They are all good, even the Sony. Knowing what I know now, I probably will give away the Canon and perhaps buy a backup Fuji body, a newer one. No matter how it goes, it's good. Good to see you having fun!

I completely agree. Even direct flash when used on a low power can really make an image pop and if your subject is light up high iso is very usable and clean. I have the Godox TT350 that I have been using with a diffuser reflector and the result are amazing. Even a little diffuser really softens out the light and makes your subject pop.

Dangit - I was in the exact same spot last night and didn’t think to take the EF-X8. It would have been perfect. If it could rotate to bounce I’d never take it off the camera. A real speed light is better but sometimes you don’t want to be “that guy”.

I like small little flashes. I even like cameras with built in flashes. Sometimes they just come in handy. Sometimes when I'm shooting a wedding I put on the little baby Olympus bounce flashes when I'm outside shooting a wedding. I do this because sometimes right after the ceremony everyone goes inside and then I'll have a flash on the camera. The reason I don't put the big flashes on is because of the weight. But when I have a second that's when I switch to my big flashes. Trying to hold a Olympus OMD E-M1ii with a battery grip and the Panasonic 35-100mm f2.8 yes lite lens but adding a big flash is a little to much sometimes.

Hey Eric, I just ordered and received a new EF-X8 in time for a live gig shoot this Friday night - the artist is fine for me to use flash, but I want to make sure I don't blind the band. Any hints on set up? I've dialled things back quite a bit here at home to test it, but it's still really bright?

Leica M8 user with several Leica lenses, then nothing for a few years 'cause I was so disappointed with the M8, then discovered the Fuji X100T + Fuji X-E3 cameras. Advice: if you sell your Leica body DO NOT sell all your Leica glass! The Leica 28mm and 35mm lenses would work extremely well (manual focusing) on your Fuji X-E4. Mine came in the box with the X-T3. I wasn't expecting it, and certainly wouldn't have bought it as an add-on. I've got more powerful (also bulkier, and heavier) Godox speedlites but now this little unit lives in my bag, and gets me out of a tight spot once in a while.

I have and use that little flash on my x-e4 as well and think its a great little set up for night candids. I also have a Panasonic S5 and 20-60mm + 50mm 1.8. Always wanted full frame again after moving from my D810 to mirrorless a few years ago. My problem …. I like the images from the fuji better. I like using the fuji more even the the S5 has way better ergos and custom buttons. I also have an Olympus E-M1 Mk II which was to be replaced by the S5. I too want to minimise my gear and right now im leaning towards selling all but the x-e4, the 18-55, 35 f2 and that little flash.

@@ericrjennings it’s tough. The perfect camera is one that inspires you to pick it up and use and has all the features you want. That’s why i think you were onto the nearest solution a few videos ago when you talked about having 2 cameras. A passion camera and a workhorse camera. I think from memory you had the Olympus Pen F and Panasonic S5 at the time. I related as I had the x-e4 and e-m1 mk II (saving for the S5 which I recently got) and was in the mindset. The perfect camera for me doesn’t exist yet. But then i’d rather just one camera as I can’t really justify two. Plus i then have the issue of choosing which one to take. Maybe there’s hope with Fuji. @@ericrjennings OK..In short, sell the Leica and buy some Sony lenses. I say this b/c in general the Sony will do it all...video, sports, portraits, etc with easy mode focus. If you want to shoot your daughter cheerleading, your son playing hockey and so on the Sony IMHO is your best bet. Not to mention there is some really good third party lenses that won't break the bank. I sound like a sony "cheerleader" trust me I'm not, I just haven't found anything to match it overall. Also I will recommend Ted Forbes presets (especially the Kodak ones), they are awesome and give good results with one click and kind of spice up the monotonous Sony pics. The sony is great for the Videos you're making. The Fuji is great for family pictures. The Leica is a luxury that's not good for either of the first two. Great to have but it's more of a conversation starters. Don't get me wrong I owned Leica's in the past and they are the top of the line. I found them limiting for my style. And I do shoot with a Film mindset. But you're the only one that can make that choice on whitch to sell and keep. Look at your shooting style and if you end up with the Leica you'll have to figure out how to make it work for you.
