Filbert Vance Martin It is true, I used to live in Germany, the atmosphere was beautiful and life was amazing, then problems came and we moved to England, and it was completely opposite to Germany, England is surrounded by water, basically an island which mostly has clouds filling the sky, and darkens the atmosphere and mood and pressure.
Saying to a depressed person to just appreciate life and all the good things that happen is like to say to a person with asthma that there's plenty of air around them
*clapping* so relatable. my science teacher said something really stupid and I said " it's like googling google or searching youtube on youtube " just throwin' it out there
In regards to the depression video, all I can say is "Prince Ea, you don't suffer from depression. Don't tell those who do what it's like." Ironically, we can rephrase this as "You are not depressed. Stop it.".
6:43 I don't understand this part because ADD and ADHD are two different things. I was diagnosed with ADD by my neurologist because I wasn't hyperactive.
The DSM-IV (The manual generally used by psychiatrists) separated it into ADHD-H (Hyperactive), ADHD-PI (Predominantly Inattentive - the kind it sounds like you might have been diagnosed with) and ADHD-C (Combined form of the other two.) It's an incredibly complex subject that changes over time, but from the research I did, it seems like "ADD" isn't used these days.
+Boyinaband The slash in AD/HD is meant to represent the "major Attention Deficiet" and "major Hyperactivity) types. Generally people with AD/HD will lean towards one of those types... To describe it very simpley and possibly poorly. It is definitely a very complex disorder with strong genetic links that we can actually prove exists especially when examining areas of the brain.
It's simply not used much to the point it seems non-existent. Since they are what I like to call "brotherly disorders" it is much simpler to say one term rather than use both. I still use "A.D.D." when talking about it in my family, but I use it and "A.D/H.D." interchangeably when talking about with peers and strangers that I might happen to strike up a conversation with.
ADD is a completely legit syndrome in Sweden. And it's exactly like OP described, ADHD without the hyperactivity. It's more normal in girls and not as noticeable as ADHD and definitely not as well-known. I guess it's different in every country.
The problem with this Prince EA is that he says things really confidently, and in a way that you just WANT to believe him. A lot of people don’t look up things that they see on RU-vid which leaves them to spred this false information
I also have ADHD and it makes me very frustrated to hear things like that. One time my friend's dad told me that ADHD is caused by eating too much sugar. I guess both my parents, my aunts & uncles, my sisters, my cousins, ect. just LOVE their candy, then. It's genetic and there's really not much anybody can really do about it.
My math teacher said ADHD isn't real so I went home came back the next day and dropped 2 of my pills in her medication and wrote a thing on her desk saying "this is what ADHD is like" and then I went off for school holidays. Next term she never said it again.
"Oh god he is having a stroke what do we do" "Call an ambulance" "No, don't call them" "What, why?" *Grabs remote* "This remote is a stroke, strokes come, strokes go, you may be having a stroke right now but you are not having a stroke"
@쏘영 But comparing it to depression isn't even a valid argument, because they're literal clouds that are only controlled by weather, whilst depression is not only a mental state, but a disorder that people are biologically predisposed to. He's majorly confusing the mental state/feeling with the actual mental disorder that does not go.
Depression runs in my family. Depression can be a hereditary thing and that's my case here. "It comes and goes." Why hasn't it gone yet. Sometimes it doesn't leave. My father is almost 50 and he has been dealing with depression ever since he was a child. Clearly it doesn't always just go.
GoFindKnives S YOUR FAMILY DOES NOT HAVE DEPRESSION! Depression comes, Depression goes, Depression comes, It stays for a while, And then it goes. Jokes aside, I'm very sorry I hope everyone in your family can overcome depression and that they get better.
I feel rather amused by the fact that Prince Ea fans are usually people that like motivational and inspirational things, such as "don't judge a book by its cover", and go on to boyinaband's video and say shit like "Yeah says the guy who has purple and pink long hair".
I honestly like both of them... People who say the things similar to the examples you gave are probably not listening to anything either of them say in their videos. They would probably be more considerate of what they are saying, if they did actually listen.
I never said nor pointed out that I was edgy, it was a mere stab at someone because of the current issues surrounding this platform. I do allow people to enjoy what they want, I'm not stopping them.
as someone with adhd it just makes me disappointed that now because of him someone could tell me "oh bro just put your phone down thatll fix it" , and even then him talking only about impulsivity and attention span is no where near what adhd is actually like for someone, because of your impulsiveness you arent accepted normally and end up isolating yourself, people consistantly tell you "its not that hard to remember something" because adhd makes it hard for someone to do a constructed set of tasks with no specific explinations, and you have to find ways to make yourself work which for me i couldnt even find something that worked until this year, and if you dont work you become unmotivated and start hating yourself which altogether leads up to another mental illness to put in the pile. its frustrating that so many people have misconceptions of these disabilities just because you cant see them and they dont understand. (also thanks dave for explaining it shortly and very well)
I've been depressed. Depression doesn't come and go, once it's there, it's always there. On your better days/weeks/months/years, you can just control your emotional reactions better and not automatically slip into the negativity. That doesn't mean it's gone, cos it can hit you again.
The moral of the story: - do your research before dissing something - be kind about mental illness even if you don't understand it - CITE THE SAUCES!!!!!!
Constructive criticism? With a title like "Don't Trust Prince Ea"? And the condescending mocking tone through the whole thing. Or how about the video description.. "causes so many serious problems"... hardly a proportional response. This video is pedantic, reactionary and completely throws the baby out with the bath water. It's like it's made by a member of a high school debating society who's massively missed the point. So Prince made errors. Who hasn't? Calm down, correct them and move on. Were they malicious? Is he a bad guy? No. The opposite in fact. So why the need to try and somehow publicly expose him for something he's clearly not? I don't get the angle here. This guy is very clearly triggered. He needs to grow up, see the bigger picture and learn a thing or two about what constructive criticism actually looks like.
Why did so many people dislike this? It’s so funny and true😂 not like he’s putting Prince down on him trying to uplift ppl, but when some videos are just incorrect and not fact checked, it’s wrong😂
You guys posting these comments are actually stupid that's not at all the same thing idk if you've ever done research in your life but it wasn't until smartphones became a thing that depression was a issue that lasted so long
@@skyclick5744 I mean it's not that hard so dont be a dumbass and talk without doing research first and yes it is true and besides you probably never even had depression or known anyone with depression
@@anon7248 oh, WE haven't done research. Depression, in terms of the emotion, can cause depression with people with more white matter in their brains, with several studies being done on that, but it's well established that depression, the mental illness, can not in any way be caused in anything asides genetics. If depression is becoming more common in this modern age, it's a correlation and not a causation, based fully on research. There is even a thing in the description of this video that supports my point. Case and point; that guy that boyinaband brought up after bringing up the wiki articles on depression at standford university; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NOAgplgTxfc.html Is that a good enough source? It's mostly genetic and somewhat environmental, but not at all cased by phones and whatnot.
@@i_am_anxious0247 that was made in 2009 there are alot of things that have been recently found and besides your proably like 16 and say you have depression but electronics can cause lots of mental issues not making you crazy and it's not the actual stuff its self it's what they expose you to which desensitizes people and effects there mental health which usually is depression and another thing before you tell someone about a source make sure it's NOT OUTDATED
That video must have taken HOUR UPON HOURS to make. Not just the vidding and cutting and stuff but all the information gathering and researching. It must have taken days, probably even weeks. It's great and informative. Thanks a lot, dude. I loved watching this twice. ;)
persephone Only regarding unimportant statistics, not the fundamentals of what he's preaching. You'd be naive to believe you think you know better. He speaks only the truth. You do too much weed, you can tell from your eyes.
EXACTLY, I HAVE WATCHED A MILLION VIDEOS ONLINE THAT SAY I SHOULD PUT MY PHONE DOWN STOP USING TECHNOLOGY IN GENERAL AND LIKE LIVE MY LIFE OR SOMETHING WHILE THEY HAVE TOLD ME THIS THROUGH THE INTERNET 😹😹😹
I'd like to add this: I get so annoyed when people say technology is destroying our social lives. My husband and I met online. obviously, we are now married. And quite happily so... apart from one thing - we still have this distance between us. Moving countries is not a quick or simple task. Technology allows myself and my husband to communicate and tell each other how much we still love each other. It allows us to tell each other how we will see the other again soon. Technology is a wonderful thing that has made so many fantastic other things possible. I hate when people shit all over it (especially while simulatiously using it).
My friend who is 21 has been experiencing depressing for 5 years, he's finally getting help and is getting better, but depression does not go away, It's not a choice.
What we do here is go back (back, back, back, back, back, back, back, back....). * dun * _BWWAAAAAHHHHH_ (La) _BWWAAAAAHHHHH_ (La) _BWWAAAAAHHHHH_ ooooooooOOO....hooooooooo... * dun * * dun * (La) _BWWAAAAAHHHHH_ (La) _BWWAAAAAHHHHH_
Me: the green grass looks amazing in the sun Prince Ea: studies show that humans have been manipulated into thinking that grass is green, when it’s actually dark metallic crimson
I had no access to electronics for a week or two at various, different point in my life (school trips/family trips) and guess what? Didn’t cure my depression or ADHD. Huh.
I would also like to add 1:59... I am depression and it’s contagious thx to me and now everyone around me has depression. So therefore I can be depression and be the perceiver too
Tell me what about this is not a good message. People like you just complain about everything. your name is humanity is cancer and you're now even blaming a person who tries to make humanity better. hypocrite
adham khaled What’s wrong with you? Why would you tell someone to kill themselves just because of a RU-vid comment? Your probably just a impulsive kid that doesn’t know how to not go off on people. Regardless of whose side your on, saying that to people is not acceptable.
"Take everything with a grain of salt" and "Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear" are sayings I was drilled into my head from when was I was young.
One of the worst parts of my depression is how guilty I feel for being so depressed when my life is objectively pretty comfortable. Like who am I to be so selfish that I can't be happy with what i have. It's miserable.
I feel the same way. My therapist encourages me to understand that I don’t have any control over it. I mean having the disorder, being as mine is based in genetics. I can work towards fixing it and/or living with it, but you can’t change your genetics. Hearing that helped me a bit. Hang it there you guys.
Being confy doesn't mean you MUST be happy. Try to no put much pressure on yourself. Everyone has their own problems they have to deal with and yours is not smaller just becaus you have a "confortable life". stay healthy and happy man. :D
7:28 I have adhd. I struggle with the fact that I take medication everyday in order to focus. After hearing what you said, I had to pause the video. I have never felt so validated or heard a better explanation of adhd.
Joke alert. You may be experiencing ADHD. You may go through it right now. But you are not ADHD. You are the sky. The toilet floor. The tree that died yesterday. You are not ADHD. Okay now serious. Im ADD. basically the not hyperactive version of you. I know the pain.
I took it as "Your mental illness doesn't define who you are", but even then I would be on Dave's side because a lot of the time mental illness does kind of define who you are (at least in my case it does).
The thing is he retroactively said that it's about the mood depression. He claims to be trying to prevent suicide with his video. The mood depression does not cause suicide. Saying what he said in his you are not depressed video is dangerous and damaging to say to someone with depression. So either - he was saying dangerous things about the mental illness, then responded to the backlash by saying that he was talking about the mood all along, which explains why he claims that he's preventing suicide, - or he just made a pointless video about not letting temporary sadness get you down, in which case why is he trying to defend himself by claiming that he's preventing suicide?
A year ago i made comment about how much i loved prince EA that has since been deleted, i now hate that man with a burning passion. Why? because i realized what he said was idiotic what he gave was a false hope i could get better, that the world was simple as that that there was someone that shared my feelings toward the world, i was so absolutely wrong.
The ADHD thing pissed me off because i have a pretty severe case of it. I agree with you saying it's like being trapped in your own mind. A lot of my family doesn't understand what it's like to lack control over your body. It's an infuriating feeling that i wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy. #ADHDisntanadjective
I like how he constantly says technology is bad but has a 5 million youtube channel and an Instagram and a bunch of stuff. Hes the definition of a hypocrite
Luke J. / Nexus This is taken from the website healthline.com "Types of ADHD There are three types of ADHD: 1. Inattentive This is what is typically referred to when someone uses the term ADD. This means a person shows enough symptoms of inattention (or easy distractibility) but isn’t hyperactive or impulsive. 2. Hyperactive-Impulsive This type occurs when a person has symptoms of hyperactivity and impulsivity but not inattention. 3. Combined This type is when a person has symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity"
Put that fukkin depression in the fukkin bag and fukkin lob it out the fukkin window onto the fukkin street for some other fukkin dude to fukkin pick it up and fukkin take it fukkin home to fukkin live either for the fukkin rest of his fukkin life

mimi mimi stop yelling I’ve been getting treatment for about 13 or so years, it was a joke, about how it’s a chemical imbalance that won’t go away, it can be treated and feel fine with medication but it won’t magically go away ever.
Pastel.peaches 0110 yeah I’ve been on em for over 10 years just saying that’s how pre wired depression works. It can be taken care of with meds but it never goes away chemically technically
You do not have ADHD. You may experience ADHD, but you do not have ADHD. *iT cOmEs, It gOeS* (this was me trying to make myself feel better for having ADHD) Holy crap I forgot this comment exists for years or so and I come back to see 400 and something likes and 28 comments. dang
