In the 80's, I remember was the first time I had seen this technique in training. I was competing in table tennis and they used a bike wheel.

Very good video with a unique device. I like how it was very thorough and explanatory. I would’ve even really liked to see examples of how the spin affects the trajectory and bounce of the ball simulated in a game scenario.

This is great but one key you should cover is the grip used or recommended for each type of spin, and how to easily and quickly change the grip while in play.

when I hit low to high the ball rockets up and out of the court. So I'm not quite getting the feel of the spin. I'm launching the ball.

The one used in the video was made by company TSP. Sadly it is discontinued, so kid's bike (for 3-5 y.o kids) is a good alternative

@@CliffPickleball The sidespin in your video rotates around the vertical axis. The other rotates around the horizontal axis whilst the ball travels forward. You see it a lot with the new chainsaw serves. This causes the ball to spin/kick when it makes contact with the ground.

@@dRhaRRysFruitloops That just means topspin with a tilted spin ( not directly at you), and underspin with tilted spin (not directly at you). Both causes ball to jump sideways with a kick.

@@dRhaRRysFruitloopsit is kind of complicated. Pure side spin off that type almost impossible to produce. So as for the bounce it is no much different than top-sidespin or under-sidespin. Chainsaw serve is tough because it's almost impossible to see / predict incoming spin on the ball. Similar trick was banned in table tennis long time ago.
