Don't Wait Too Long To Collect Wii Games 

Your statement about being able to tell if someone's Wii collection was curated is so true, I get legitimately a little sad looking through Wii console/game bundles and seeing nothing but shovelware trash and knowing for a fact that those games were the only thing the Wii had going for it in their mind.

the Wii is one of my all-tme favorite consoles, and actually got me back into gaming after years on hiatus. I was simply amazed by the unique controls and all the fun ways they were implemented into the games. I still prefer motion controls in first-person games on the Switch, like Metroid Prime Remastered. I have most of those games you showed in the video, as well as a couple more gems like A boy and his blob, Red Steel 2, Zack & Wiki, Little King's story, the Boom blox games, Dawn of Discovery, Wario Land Shake it, as well as several more "hidden" gems.

I have a tiny tiny Wii collection but among it is the Fire Emblem so I'm pretty stoked with that alone.

Point and click games and lightgun games really worked on the Wii. We don't get many local multiplayer games anymore either, so I'd pick up those kinds of games.

More videos like this please Pete. I definitely need to play those Sonic games again. Mainly collecting Wii exclusives.

Ive been waiting for 2 years for you to do a collecting guide for Xbox 360 pete. I even went on a few of your live streams and asked and you said it would be coming soon. You need to do one soon because the e shop is closing and a lot of people are interested in collecting for the 360 and need to know what games they should get physically before the prices skyrocket.

Opoona and arc rise Fantasia are both really solid and truly rare RPGs exclusive to the Wii. A lot of people bring up Xseed's Pandora's Tower, The Last Story, and Fragile Dreams. Those games have a lot going for them to push demand and price, but they are a lot more common than Opoona or Arc Rise. Ivy the Kiwi and Juon are the two truly standoutishly rare Xseed games for the Wii.

Another great thing about the wii is the ability to play arcade and rail shooters on modern tvs to get that light-gun experience without the need to buy peripherals or own a CRT. Would love to hear your thoughts on Genesis collecting right now, as I’ve just gotten into it myself

The best non Nintendo game on wii is probably red steel 2!

I've also really come to appreciate the Wii's library over the years. It's great for light gun games for example--House of the Dead 2 and 3, Ghost Squad, and LA Machineguns are just awesome pick up and play experiences.

You just popped up on my feed 😊 I remember buying so many Wii games back at university - I think some hidden gems are Boom Blox, Red Steel 2, Little King’s Story, Sin & Punishment 2, definitely Opoona and Zack and Wiki! The last game there is surprisingly really tricky at times and the motion controls are incredibly specific at times (like using a saw to cut a tree) but it’s such a great little IP that will never see the light of day again 😢 the Wii is honestly a great console.

Wii is criminally underrated. Had the best exclusive games of that generation and so many hidden gems.

I've had a Wii forever and didn't get many games for it. It's connected to my tv still and I sometimes pkay it still. It's great to hear about titles I had no idea existed. I will definitely look into some of those.

Opoona has a great soundtrack, but personally I found it tedious to play.

I mainly collect Sega developed or Sega published games. Also, games that are arcadey or retro compilations are fun to have (e.g. SNK Arcade Vol 1, Metal Slug Anthology, Data East Arcade Classics, Namco Museum Mega Mix, King of Fighters Orochi Sage, and Ultimate Shooting Collection). In addition, my favorite version of DDR (Disney Grooves) and Rock Band 3 with midi keyboard control.

Gamecube got super popular for collecting a few years ago. Then I was waiting for Wii to get popular next. It got skipped and Wii U got super popular to collect. Maybe in a few years Wii will get the love it deserves. It’s been my favorite console to collect for the past 10 years. Once you collect all the games you want there are ENDLESS variants, double packs, special editions to go after - and it’s a super uncharted territory.

The Wii has been my focus for the last 2 years once I was done with Gamecube. Been getting some good stuff recently like Mushroom Men, My Life as a King, Soulcaliber Legends (it's not bad actually), tons of other stuff. My childhood Wii collection was around 25 games, and now I have around 70 lol.

I literally sent a best offer for Deadly Creatures right after you mentioned it! That is 100% a game I could see getting expensive, don't know why I havent picked it up yet! Cool video :)

Great stuff as always Pete, these are the styles of videos and topics you do better than any other person out there on RU-vid. Your comments on curating a collection or cutting off the order of a modern release is where I'm beginning to focus my collection and also downsize, rather than by 20 reasonable priced games a month that just sit around I'd rather just make 1 massive purchase on a big hitter that I'd die to have my hands on.

There’s a handful of Wii games I’m looking to collect. I’ve picked up Muramasa the Demons Blade and Metal Slug Anthology in recent time. Nice to see another recommendation for Mushroom Men. I’ll have to raise its priority on getting it. Id be curious if you know of any import Wii games that are worthwhile. I recently came across Captain Rainbow and that piqued my interest.

Earlier this year I decided to go down the Wii rabbithole and grab some games I wanted for really cheap. I'm glad you weighed in and talked about a couple of games I hadn't heard of, you made buy Opooa on the spot, it'll be interesting to see if wii prices start taking off in the next few years when that wave of nostalgia hits that generation.

Great little chat 😊 I am collecting all the Wii games at the moment from all regions and all the limited editions and demos. I put them up every day on my channel as i'm creating a full library of everything available for the wii so in the future people can see how it came sealed or what the booklet looked like etc because just like other consoles sooner or later the prices are going to go up and at that point is when the bootlegs start, so my library will help new collectors to the wii decide if it came like that because there are many variants of loads if titles. The problem I am having at the moment is with the US titles and Austrailian, being in the UK I have to pay imports and postage charges in excess so a shuffleware title like say baby sitting moma is costing between 50 and 100 dollars so every time I see a game that I need from the US it is digging holes in my finances, the games you showed like rhythm fever etc their nearly 200 dollars. But needs be needs so I'm having to grab titles the best I can. Sometimes I'll see like the 4 reader rabbits for a decent price but after all the charges they are so expensive it's ridiculous. But yea I do agree with you grab the Wii now while you can because it's going up even the shuffleware especially if you are planning on buying out of region titles😊 Do you know what's a great title for the Wii? Calling..... This is underated and now becoming pricey too ... Great vid matey. Oh yea nearly forgot tgere is over 5000 wii titles for all regions 😢

Wii is an interesting console. You had to already have the foresight to see a gem on the wii. I was grabbing wii titles back in 2017. Ultimate shooting collection, heavenly guardian and munchables just to name a few. I usually grab unique looking games with strange covers and art styles. 100% agree, now if you're collecting for wii, there is some homework required. Great vid

uhhh Yes and NO. Yes historically Nintendo consoles and games have gone up in prices after a long time, but the thing about the Wii is and was it's popularity. So many consoles were mass produced, heck my family owned 4 (one we bought by accident). That's how common they had become. The games were re-released often and prices were cut often, not to mention that a huge chunk of the Wii's library is shovel-ware that's probably not going to go up in value unless they were short printed. Wii's don't break down as quickly as it's brethren consoles and the Wii U was a thing, which behaved as a pseudo-extension of the Wii. Isn't it telling that the Wii U has become valuable than the Wii which preceded it? Just my TID_BIT

It used to be so much fun rummaging through Wii bins at GameStop and finding really good games circa 2010. I’m glad more people are starting to see the gems through the coal.

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All Stars is the best of it's kind when it comes to "Marvel vs Capcom" games, that is still exclusive to the Wii. It's controller system and combat is way more simple than others in the "vs. Capcom" series. I bought it for 2 bucks nearly a decade ago, and it's still my favorite fighter game even if I still have no clue who the characters in the Tatsunoko portion of the game are.

I have most of the games in this video already. Opoona is one I don't have but i have had a search result bookmarked for a long time now and it was about £20 when i orignally considered getting it and now its about £35. I like to collect RPG as its my fav genre, but that game just doesn't look like something id like, why I keep passing on it. I did get Arc Rise when it was alot cheaper luckily it's not very ambious but some times you want something safe. Why I think there is an underground fan base for Kemco RPG.

Thanks for the recommendations! Always good to keep in mind games like these, the market can be sometimes unpredictable when something will just suddenly skyrocket. Definitely are a few I'm still missing in your selections, but ones I'll need to keep my eye out for, for sure.

Also, the same can be said about ps2. Lots of ps2 games are shovelware just like wii. So buying lots of ps2 games is very tough

I'm almost done with my wii collection, going for full set with variants, hardest game to find was club penguin 5th year limited edtion and cyberbike cycling, Fritz chess was so hard to find in 2020/2021 but now i can see few copies on ebay.

I've got a lot already between two regions (PAL - United Kingdom and NTSC - US). But... *looks at GameCube and Wii U* here go again! Though unlike the other two I mentioned, Wii was "cool" for the first couple years, then damn near everyone turned on it (I stuck with it even as my family got the Xbox 360). That reception seemed to be consistent... so I thought until I saw this video (not blaming you Pete). Online revisionism strikes again!

I do collect for the Nintendo Wii and it’s hard to not find bad games but sometimes I find them at garage sales and found some really good games. I don’t usually buy games from eBay.

Some favs of mine that are still cheap Domino Rally - really cool puzzle action game with major “lol Japan” vibes. Speed Racer - Great arcade racer Rodea - comes packaged with the Wii U version and is a great gimmicky 3d platformer Dragon Quest Swords - lightgun RPG basically. Full DQ style rpg campaign. Can’t believe this one’s still so cheap

The sonic games can be ported to switch because it also have motion controls that can work well

The Wii does have a lot of good games you wouldn't expect. I liked the Carnival Games too even though they're basically mini game shovel ware.

I collected Wii primarily, with about 130 games. I officially stopped collecting for it once I spilled for Dokapon Kingdom, unfortunately shortly before It dropped in price when the Switch port was announced. But, I have basically everything I could want. I guess I'm mostly missing the two Mario Party games, Silent Hill, and Castle of Shikigami 3. But i had to stop somewhere.

I agree , Let the Wii cook . However it will blow up. The nes to us is the Wii too those now days. Also there is a lot of awesome wii games and also a lot a lot of hidden gems. 💎 which makes it very fun to collect for. The Wii became one of my top 3 fav consoles ever.

I would love to get a video about the Switch. I have been collecting for the Switch since the launch and have a huge library, but that console has so many games it is hard to keep up. Would love to see what you think will become rare or are must have lesser-known titles. Would also like to know your thoughts on the Evercade.

To be honest I think you give solid points and you're usually ahead of the curve. The Wii is such an untapped market. I will buy wii stuff if the price is right. I think the shovelware games hold the system back and it's a lot of work people don't wanna do.

Just recently got my hands on Silent Hill Shattered memories for the Wii for a good 90 bucks. Definitely would spend that much over the PS2 version.

I find doing the homework the most fun part of collecting. I start off on meta critic at everything 55 percent and above. A hell of a lot of 55 percent rated games are absolutely worth it. A lot of games that get scored higher do so because they are a part of a franchise or similar reason and these scores do not always reflect how good the actual games are.

I went on such a Wii tear about 10 years ago. I got so many games for really cheap and I made sure to get all of the standout RPGs, horror, and just weird games that seemed cool. Just remember the 20 year rule, Nintendo stuff that has a lower availability will skyrocket at that point. We saw it with every generation up until now, it won't be any different with the Wii.

The wii is great. Honestly, I stuck to classic controller and GC controller for quite awhile. Then i realized the Wii set up is a controller in two parts. Then it's easy. And it's pretty easy to find good games. Metal Jesus has done around 8 videos. Gaming off the grid is great too. I'd put Wii games in roughly three tiers. 1: Must have. Mario Galaxy. 2: Good games, but... not essential. Like Mushroom Men. 3. Crap, but worth 2-10 bucks. And prices are all over the place. About the shovel ware thing, well, that's not entirely wrong. But, look at any console. 2600 for example. Tons of crap and things that look iffy. But at the right price, take a shot. Why not? Something like Tatsunoko V Capcom is expensive. Cool, but probably not worth it. But Sky Crawlers an anime air combat game is pretty cheap. Speed Racer, Astro Boy, whatever. Not big names, but definitely worth the time.

Little King’s Story, Order Up!, and Octomania are my picks for unique Wii games that (probably) won’t break the bank. (LKS got a PS Vita port, but that one is much rarer.) Sakura Wars: So Long My Love is also worth it if you’ve a bit more to spend.

I have a good collection of Wii games. It's the only console I actually collect for. I still need a few of them though. The Data East collection and the SNK collection games are two of them. There is also The Munchables, Tornado Breakout, and I know I should have had this before but Excite Truck as well. I am a huge Wii fan and poo on anyone who hates it. 😂

Talk about psp in future video if you can figure out the ports for it that change the gameplay like on console it’s 3d rpg but on psp it’s 2d platformer

Buy the expensive ones now because they are the ones that will be harder to get/ most expensive ones in the future. As Pete said though, do your homework don't buy the expensive ones that you don't want. My main goal with this comment is to save you money in the long term. I know a lot of us collectors save those must have but expensive games until later or last, maybe in the hope of finding a bargain. What happens though when you get to that part of your list and the prices have just been going up and up. I've been priced out of some games I really wanted after doing it the wrong way around and by the time I got to the they had increased tenfold and I just decided not to go the physical route.

I found Opoona in good will in Sparks Nevada earlier this year on a birthday weekend with my girlfriend, complete in box with the disc looking like its never been touched for $4. Its honestly astonishing to think i had a one in a million chance to find a pristine copy just in a good will

Talk about collecting for the Xbox 360 next. Im currentyl selling my collection with plans to reobtain it. However, many prices for games on the 360 have increased in price. The transformers War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron games are just some examples.

Not sure if I'm alone on this but I've always have felt collecting for the Wii is very similar to collecting for the 2600. You run into the same few dozen commons endlessly and really have to know the really good hard to find stuff.

Also, I’ve heard that the Wii version of Rodea the Sky Soldier is actually pretty good. The Wii and WiiU versions came bundled together, and the slapped-together WiiU port is the one that got killed in reviews. I should get around to trying it.

I disagree about your take on the motion controls, I think those are that make the Wii unique for the following reasons: 1. To this day no other console has done it so successfully, it is a unique feature. 2. These days emulation is so easy, but setting up Wii motion control emulation is quite an effort, both time and money, so ot is the easier just to buy the console itself. 3. The implementation of motion controls are so good, and plenty of people grew up with it who will enter the nostalgia age in 10 years. Also my kids love it, it is far easier to get into than most other retro games, and again it is a unique experience.

I am definitely in the camp of people who lose all interest in the Wii as soon as they think about having to set up the stupid sensor bar. Love the Wii hardware, but those motion controls suck all the excitement out of it for me.

Collecting everything is fine too. Pop everything in once.
