People who enjoy PS2 should be keeping an eye on The Red Star and Under the Skin. Both are very uncommon. The Red Star is one of the very best action games on the system and fantastic co-op, as well as being based on a cult comic. Under the Skin is not only unique and strange, but one day people will learn about its ties to Resident Evil, and it'll probably get more attention.
Ridge Racer Unbounded is made by Bugbear; the same guys who made Flatout and Wreckfest, so you'll want to check it out and then those games. Stay away from Flatout 3 - considered one of the worst games of all time, and was made by a different developer.
My favorite gaming memories for Dreamcast were Soul Calibur, Residenr Evil: Code Veronica, Powerstone, Berserker, Omikron: The Nomad Soul, Shen Mue and Crazy Taxi. I too only owned maybe a dozen or so games and was an avid renter for the console. Being a huge Kenji Eno fan since discovering D and Enemy Zero and the fact Ueda worked for him on these games, i was glad to finally go back and play D2 like 10 years ago! Its great! Did you play David Cage's 1st game Omikron: The Nomad Soul? I really got absorbed in it! I got it without knowing about it, when they guy in front of me chose Illbleed instead of it and though Illbleed is quirky fun and worth more now, i'm still glad i got Omikron cuz i like it better!
I used to listen to giantbomb all the time. I had the same experience where they basically didn't have opinions anywhere close to mine. I realized that unless is was a game based on older design (deadcells for example) or if it was universally loved (red dead 2 at the time) then they hated it. It was just so dumb so I decided to stop listening. Also they totally spoiled the story to red dead 2 with no warning and it was just a few days old, I will never forgive them.
For the last little while the Xbox copy has been my go-to, mainly because I have an Xbox One X and in cases where it has an enhancement patch, it will be better than what I can run on my base PS4. But unfortunately in some cases, there are games that never got an enhancement patch and are much worse even on the Xbox One X with the extra power than it would be on a base PS4. With my plan to buy a PS5 soon, I've been leaning more towards getting PS4 copies both because of the PS5 enhancement patches and because of the many games that had PS4 Pro patches/versions and run at their best on the PS5. I might end up just buying a regular PS5 and then a cheap used Series X eventually to get the best of both worlds and to get a bit more out of my old Xbox One copies, whether they are enhanced for Xbox One X already or not. I agree with you that it seems like most games will have sold more on PS than Xbox, especially niche/JRPG games, so that's another reason I've liked having copies for Xbox instead of PS, even if I don't ever really intend to sell my copies anyway.
This was suggest to me in 2024 and it's surreal to watch u talking about these now ancient games haha I just picked up a brand new copy of Otemdius Excellent with that 2011 air still inside lol what a trip
I still have my kuon and Godzilla on fisplay and olay often it's funny to me how expensive they go for now i just love those two games and would.never sell.
Great point about not researching too much before getting a game I've found that I love a lot of games that people just think are average, such as Final Fight 2

looked up buying old games and pressed recently uploaded and yours was one of the first to pop up. I'm planning on doing this to every video that pops up as well. I'm literally gonna sell everything for a couple hundred dollars maybe a little more. It needs to go quick and I'm offering half price if not quarter for everything so it'd be a pleasure if we could work something out. My take on it this; I do regret it from a financial POV, as many of the games I sold as a teenager were sold cheap and have increased in value quite a bit. However, on the flip side, I just see the whole process as part of growing up. At the time I was more interested in buying clothes and just interested in other aspects of life. And in time I have come back around and I have also re-purchased a good chunk of the games I really enjoyed.
