Don Williams is the most underrated OG artist there is. I think it's because he keeps his performances very simple. It's just him playing a guitar and singing a song, there is nothing fancy, nothing flashy, the only thing he uses to draw a crowd is the quality of his music which I love. Thank you Don Williams is one of my favorite artists.

The fellas really need to listen to the studio version of this song. That live mix was awful....
Truth be told, I have never heard Don Williams when he didn't sound great. His voice is a wonderful blend of whiskey and honey. They called Don "The Gentle Giant". When he got pretty old and had to sit through his entire shows, he still sounded amazing. Lots of great songs from Don.
I grew up with that voice in the background. My Mom loved Don Williams and she was herself a singer who sang backup for some OGs. She said his voice was one of THE best she ever heard.
My dad loved Don Williams and he always makes me takes me back to dad learning to play his songs on the guitar. “Lord I hope this Day is Good” was a favorite around our house, especially when you had a feeling it might not be.
Don Williams has SO many amazing, huge hits. It's a rabbit hole you'll never regret. Till the Rivers All Run Dry, I Believe In You, Amanda, Lord I hope This Day Is Good.... A few to get you started.
Love this song. One of my favorite voices in Country Music ever! He sounded just as good in concert. So many fantastic songs. I Believe In You is probably his biggest hit. Not a bad place to go next.
I add my own twist with each chorus. Those Earnhardt boys mean a lot to me, Dale and Junior. Third chorus; Those Daniel's boys mean a lot to me, Jack and Charlie.
Don Williams back in the day had over 50 charted songs and he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2010. He was known as the Gentle Giant and that is partly because of his position in country music during his time.
Some of my favorite Don Williams songs are: Tulsa Time Some Broken Hearts Never Mind Lord, I Hope This Day Is Good It Must Be Love I’m Just A Country Boy Lord Have Mercy On A Country Boy
The "Gentle Giant"... sweet and smooth, and so quiet that you really focus in on every word. A few more: Love is on a roll, I believe in you, Lord I hope this day is good, Love me tonight, Poor country boy, Tulsa time
I remember looking him up a few years back, because I could only ever remember seeing him in old performances from like the 80's. And I was surprised to see that he was still alive, because he kinda already looked a little old in this old performance. But when I looked him up, he had white long hair and a white beard. Then a couple of months later the news broke that he passed away. Coincidentally he passed away on the same day that Troy Gentry from the country group "Montgomery Gentry" passed away. Troy passed from a helicopter crash. You guys reacted to them before.
This man! So laid back, so quiet. Once said he didn’t like to hear himself sing. Some tunes were more successful than others but he NEVER had a bad one. Thanks, Aimless One, for this jewel, it’s my favorite.
What an incredible Song and what a Voice!!! I'm glad I don't have a reaction channel because I can't wait to go check out more of his music! An interesting thing happened for me during this song. This song evoked a strong sense of nostalgia for me but It came from the music not really the lyrics. I'm convinced he could have been singing in a completely different language where I couldn't understand a single lyric, and I still would have felt that same feeling of nostalgia. It's amazing the power of music to evoke an emotion. It's also a testament to what an incredible job Don Williams and the rest of the Band did communicating the emotion of this song. There is a difference between playing the notes or singing the lyrics and what these guys did. A lot of musicians play music, but A Great Musician Communicates music.
Don had an amazing catalog. I believe in you, your my best friend, honey I do, some broken hearts never mends is where you should go next with his music.
Don Williams has always been one of my favorites. Voice as smooth as silk. Amanda, I Believe in Love, Tulsa Time, Some Broken Hearts Never Mend, You're My Best Friend.
So calm and so peaceful. A voice like honey. I love to put his music on at home. U can sing along to every one of them and clean or craft or just chill with a drink. He is one of my very favorite singers. His voice is what I think of when I think of home.
OMG!! 🤯 I’ve always loved Don Williams and I haven’t listened to him in a while. I just pulled up his music to listen because of this reaction, and I found a song I never knew about! He has a recording with Keith Urban, Imagine That, and it’s excellent! Don was always underrated and a true legend. He’s truly missed. And that’s another thing that I love about Keith Urban too is that he is as much a fan of all the greats and always pays such homage to them, as much as he is an icon himself.
I took my sister to see Don Williams live a year or so before he passed. He sounded just as good as he did when i was a kids in the 70s. He was one of the best!
Have always loved Don...I vote for "Amanda" next....like right now! All of Don's songs are mellow. Thanks for the reaction. Looking forward to more. Those sideburns were great.
Watched a handful of your videos but this is the one that made me subscribe. Don Williams is a legend. This is my favorite song of his but there are so many others. I was fortunate enough to see him in concert in the mid 80s. No glitz, no glamor, no flashing lights. Just the man and his guitar and those effortless vocals. His version of "Amanda" is a close second favorite.
With a great singer and a song like that came together, has brought me to tears for almost 45 years. You guys have missed a lot of great songs, glad you found this one. Keep doing the great job of analyzing music and bourbon,
His music style was strongly influenced by other music from his home in Floydada TX. Buddy Holly from Lubbock, Also Mac Davis. Bob Wills from Turkey and western swing. This area is home to some incredible musical talent. My in laws knew Don when he was playing at the county fair, covering old country songs alone with just his guitar when the music itself was the entertainment without the lights and electric sound. And he was a phenomenal guitarist. It's difficult to play and sing without watching your hands.
Hey guys me again. The song with Chris Stapleton and Adele is called Easy on Me. I guess it depends on your definition of what's country. By todays standards ... maybe. I guess if whatever Beyonce did is country then so is this. I heard the song (Chris and Adele) and it is worth a listen. I personally would not call it country, but I wouldn't call a lot of what is on "country radio" country. That being said, I like all kinds of music (well most kinds), but I wouldn't expect to hear bluegrass on a classic rock station,. Know what I mean? Anyway for another song by a country artist, that isn't a country song, you should give a listen (on your own) to a live performance from some award show of Gretchen Wilson singing Barracuda with Alice in Chains playing behind her. You get to really hear her open up. Anyway, I'm going to leave you a link to it. Do with it what you will. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BqQkECIn738.html Oh and another Don Williams favorite of mine is "You're My Best Friend".
I dig your guys' reactions! I saw Don Williams in Anaheim, CA, in the early '90s ('90-'91). It was a small theater, with a rotating stage. It was just Don and his guitar, and it was absolutely awesome!
So, Don is absolutely the James Taylor of "older" country music. I liked him as a kid growing up in the early 80's. And the Chris/Adele is not country. Its one of her songs that he just collabs on later. At least from my quick youtube search. -"Easy on me"
Don Williams is my favorite artist period. I don't think he made a bad song, and I have 6 of his albums in my record collection. "If Hollywood Don't Need You" , "Miracles", Your My Best Friend" are some of my favorites!!
I would also like to add my favorite Don Williams song, "'Till the Rivers All Run Dry." It is just beautiful, romantic and mellow. Second favorite: "Some Broken Hearts Never Mend." If you have an old flame you miss, this song will bring tears. BTW, how do I bribe you?
This is the 2nd Don Williams song you’ve done. About 5 months ago you did Some Broken Hearts Never Mend. You compared him to James Taylor then too. Don and Keith Urban did Don’s song Imagine That a few years before Don’s death that is really good.
Thank You Aimless 1,this is 1 of 3 songs I consider my favorite song.can't say which 1 is.Saw Din Williams once he was older and just sat on a stool and played, nothing fancy but kept 300 people mesmerized through his entire set
I never got a chance to see him live, my great loss. It would be hard to pick 10 of his without being sure which should be higher, this one would be top five for me. I also missed seeing the Kinks, & Chuck Berry live too, but did see Roy Orbison as my first sock hop when Only the Lonely was on top. Don would have been a pleasure, but life was always in the way. Thanks my Friend!
@@wgj4everlong426 I love Waylon too, check out my last name. Never did see him play live either but was aware of his Buddy Holly connection. He was the bass player for Holley's Band. The Day the Music Died, Think "American Pie" by Don Mc Clean. Waylon didn't have any bad music either. Watch Waylon & Hank Jr. or Bocephus play, play The Conversation. I love all the Hank's and Waylon did too. I missed a lot of my roots (country) when I discovered the Blues had a baby and they called it Rock 'n' Roll. Even Keith Richards had the Stones dabbling in country. He loved Hank & Willie Nelson too. He did lots of Country & Rock with many big-time stars. Thanks again, my Friend!
Don Williams was called the "Gentle giant." He is such a legend!!!! I think he has one of the best voices in the world. most of his songs had a very mellow vibe. I think the next one you should react to is "Tulsa Time." It is one of his more lively ones. It is quite a vibe!!!! Here is the link:ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JPLrdKibUas.html
Don Williams is one I tend to forget it out there until someone plays him and you melt. Now, Adele and Stapleton, it's more an a Adele song than a country song. Also, Chris has done songs with Pink and Kelly Clarkson.. he likes singing with voices that can rise to his. Great job guys.
I love Don Williams and Conway and Waylon Jennings. Don and Waylon have song written by the same song writer but second verse is different and it was song I was named after. So you will have to do both back to back. The song name is Amanda
I could have sworn y'all did a song of his a few months ago called Some Broken Heart's Never Mend. 2 of my favorite songs of his are Amanda and Tulsa Time.
Tulsa Time is wonderful, but this one is my favorite. Growing up in the summer, we slept with the windows up. All of those night sounds and smells stay with you always. It wasn't a perfect childhood, but it was good one.🌹🦋
Don Williams a great baratone, was before James Taylor. Both were great artists. Don also had a brother named Andy Williams, a great tenor, who was also very talented and had his own TV show.
Thank you so much Aimless One. I’ve always loved Don Williams! No voice like his! ♥️ And guys you’ve done another Don Williams and Some Hearts Never Win. Check out Tulsa Time, Lord I Hope This Day Is Good, I Believe in You.
Keith if you’re talking about “Easy on Me” by Adele and Chris Stapleton landed on the Country charts after it was done on the deluxe edition of her album 30, but the song won a pop Grammy I think. I don’t think this helps you much. That said, I vote for it.
You did react ti a Don Williams song a few months back " Some Broken Hearts Never Mend ". If you like this, you'll love his whole catalog of music. One of my favorite OG's.
Don Williams has been suggested before in the comments. Not by me, but I’ve seen it before. EDIT: not positive the suggestions were on this channel. I think so, though.
Getting deep into country music with this one, Don is one of my favorites. I went and listened to Stapleton and Adele...it is not a country song, it is Adele's song with Stapleton singing backup vocals.
