I am an Australian who has lived and worked in the US. Trump is a proven liar and con man with no respect for the rule of law. His valour was demonstrated by his father arranging for a doctor to certify "bone spurs" to avoid the draft. The doctor's daughters stated that he was a tenant in Trump seniors building and the arrangement was quid pro quo. Trump said that John McCain, a real hero who was shot down and captured and turned down an offer of early release because HIS father was an admiral saying he would stay with his comrades in the infamous 'Hanoi Hilton' until they could all go home was not a hero because he was captured. Apparently McCain was supposed to evade capture when he landed in a North Vietnamese rice paddy and broke his limbs and make his way to friendly territory. Just like Donald would have had those bone spurs not prevented a glorious military career. Trump also criticised the parents of a soldier killed on duty. I can understand why some Americans may have voted for Trump in 2016. Working and middle class Americans had correctly learned that the economic system in the US was working for the rich and not for them, and Trump was going in to bat for them. When his tax cuts were passed, he told his friends at a gathering at Mar a Lago that he had just made them a whole lot richer. Trump lost the popular vote by 3 million in 2016. He lost the popular vote in 2020 7 million. He refused to accept the result and fomented a deadly insurrection in an attempt to remain in office. I find it staggering that any American would vote for him in 2024.

The judge stated that as long as they thought he was guilty of 'something' they could find him guilty of those 34 charges. This is even before you get in to evidence provided by a convicted liar who stole from Trump, the judge ruling out witnesses who were experts in election laws and so on.

As it is, 99% of these MAGA, trump, and/or "republican" cretinscrying foul - with NO actual evidence, because NONE exists - have NO idea what the actual charges were, the prosecution's evidence, nor the complete lack of any actual defence efforts addressing the actual charges, by the defence. The penalties for these* charges don't normally result in prison sentences - but that is certainly one of the options of the sentencing judge, and considering trump's conduct, I would expect it is a very real consideration at this point. *Of course, he still has more than 50 outstanding charges to be settled, state and federal, and from what we DO know, and the outright incompetence of his "defence" team - possible because trump is telling them what he wants, rather than them telling him what he needs to so - there's very high probability he's going to be found guilty of those too! One must remember that many of those have a MINIMUM sentence of Prison time.
