Make sure you do a clarifying wash to remove any buildup that you may have before trying a new product. A lot of people end of having flakes and issues simply because all they did was cowash and their hair really wasn't clean. Just a tip.
Eco Styler isn’t cancer causing. Someone had an allergic reaction and the whole internet went wild, if you didn’t have a problem with it before, you’re fine. People just too sensitive these days!
But that's the point😂😂people ARE sensitive....MANY people could've been having allergic reactions to the product without being aware that the ingredients in the product were causing the reaction. The ingredients in ecostyler ARE toxic...it's a fact lol if people want to keep slicking that $2 bullshyt thru their hair go ahead....but we're not gonna knock people who are trying to elevate❤

It is so cool that 4 out of 5 of the products she mentioned are black-owned. I don't really know if the jessicurl one is so correct me if I'm wrong, cause I would like to know. Okay, thanks for letting me know. I've seen alot of people use the product line and I saw it at Sally's one day and wanted to try them, but never got a chance to just pick it up, but I might though cause I've heard good things. Thanks again.
Simple tip, I cut all of my product packages when they get low to use the rest of the product. If I have any left I put the remainder of the package that I cut in a zip lock bag to keep it fresh. This is a way that I make sure that I don’t waste products. I literally use all of my products.
It’s amazing. I have been using it for the last five years and have tried almost every hair product that is curly girl friendly and nothing can compare as a gel to UFCM.
The gels mentioned are great but you should definitely try Curling Potion by Curls and Potions. Its flaxseed based, gives a great 7 day or more hold, all natural, BLACK OWNED, and great in humidity (no glycerin).

Eco will remain in my routine but it's good to be aware. I literally buy everything you and Kelsey recommend so I'll be trying all of these gels. I love all the Kinky Curly products ugh but I hate when naturals ask if I cut my hair. It makes me question if they are real naturals or not. It's common sense that curly hair is going to be shorter than straightened hair. And certain products cause more shrinkage than others. People get on my nerves.

The eco styler, wet line and any gel with carbomber or pvp gives me so much definition on my wet hair however when my hair dries it gets hard, brittle and feels like hay. Camille Rose Curl Maker is magical leaves my hair smooth, defined and soft for weeks not days but weeks!!!
CRN and Kinky Curly are my go to's and recommendations to anyone who asks me what I use. I love Miss Jessies but some of her new products have cones in them and I am not feeling that. I stopped using the ECO too after hearing all this madness and now for my buns or ponys I will use the TGIN curl bomb gel and wrap my hair. Dont get me wrong guys I know alot of items cause cancer, but I honestly never really used or like ECO anyways
I stop using eco because it made my scalp itch and starts flaking after a day... Plus it never really laid my hair down. It was never that good from the jump

I use the kinky kurly one and I love it!! It works so good for my hair. I’ve always wanted to try the miss Jessie’s one so it’s refreshing to know that it’s similar to the kinky kurly so I know I’ll end up liking that one too 😌
I've only tried one of these so far, the Camille Rose Curl Maker, and I loved that one so I'm definitely curious to try out some of these other gels. The Mane Choice's new line has a gel also, they call it a "Braid out glaze", but it worked amazingly for me! I haven't tried it for an actual braid-out yet but for wash-n-go's it's A1 and refreshes well during the week.
I’m so glad you made this video. I started noticing a lot of breakage around the perimeter of my hair despite not wearing tight ponytails or buns. I figured it was the ecostyler gel. Nonetheless I have discontinued use.
I dont like the mane choice gel or the kinky curly styling custard. Leaves a lot of residue and my hair feels sticky. I’m still going to finish my eco gel. But i will try out your recommendations.
I use Uncle Funky’s, and the Mane Choice Biotin one. I tried Camille Rose and Kinky Curly, but they were not my favorites. I prefer a gel that doesn’t make my hair crunchy. My favorite for that is Naturall Club’s Avocado Custard, I have the most elongated, bouncy defined curls. It’s only 8 ounces though and I used a little more than half. I got it on sale, the regular price is $19. I caught it on sale again and bought 2. The one I use the most is Uncle Funky’s. It’s more accessible. So is the Mane Choice one but I like the elongation I get with Uncle Funky’s Daughter.
Perfect time of the year for this video because the NYC humidity has been insane and will get worse throughout the summer. I am a big fan of gel after my styling cream. 😊
when it comes to eco, how good of ingredients can it be for less than $5? u get all those cheap chemicals including the plastic container all for the low. can't pronounce half the ingredients, and gotta research what it is. if that shyt was as much as camille rose and kinky curly u would not be paying that much for those ingredients. yall kno u getting what u pay for. if u like it, cool, if u dont, cool, look up natural alternatives but know natural ingredients aint cheap, but again, u get what u pay for.

WOULD YOU STILL PAY FOR ECO, RIDE FOR ECO, IF IT COST $20+? and if there's a lot of cheap products that are even more natural than the expensive stuff, name them and help ur curly friends out but only name gels cuz that's what this video is about. if ur gonna leave a response like that then leave some cheap natural gel alternatives. I'll start, Flaxseed gel. but start adding your oils and your adding dollars. your turn.
I once prescribed to the curly girl method. I discovered that I was eliminating perfectly good products for no reason. I had to ask myself, "What is the real reason I am not using these products?" I had to realize that I was cutting out products for no reason. As a person whose career is in the medical sector, misinformation regarding the safety of certain hair products is abundant, especially on RU-vid. My advice: if you have allergic/negative effects from a product: stop use. If you have no negative effects, then continued use is just fine.
I’ll give the Kinky Curly custard another chance I used it when I stopped straightening my hair and like you I was extremely overwhelmed and never repurchased.

Yes! I saw the Eco Styler videos about the bad! Haven't used it in forever but not for that reason as it was the go to gel for a certain hair style, Kinky Curly is the normal gel used. I immediately thought of you guys like wait I wonder if they know. Happy you made this video!
I went to Target and picked up the Mane Choice hair gel, and it worked like a charm. Great recommendation. I've tried the Kinky Curly, and Camille Rose. Wanted to try something new, they always provide such awesome products reviews!!

When people are diagnosed with cancer do the doctors instantly link it to one thing? Lots of things we use and eat are carcinogens (cancer causing). Better to be safe with the things we use than sorry one day
Jalesia Johnson if I’m not mistaken TEA is as much of a carcinogen as caffeine is. I mean people can use whatever gel they use. But to post false information is just fear wrong. If you have an allergic reaction then that’s why it should be cancelled for you. But if you are to cancel it because you deem it “cancer causing” then mention what other items are classed in the same level.

Love kinky curly custard , it's the best curl enhancer and gives me lasting hold for days even if it does takes forever to dry . I tried the eco styler argan oil gel but it just made my hair frizzy and dry ! A cheaper alternative is Twisted Sista Curling gel, it's more of a medium hold but still defines curls and I can get at least 3 days before I need to refresh my hair . 🙂
Thanks for this video. The name choice is my favorite to use. It mixes well with some conditioners. I agree, the hold is not maximum however, it's great when refreshing your hair, just spray with a water bottle and scrunch or shake and go. I need to try some of the other's you mentioned also. Yes, please do a video with one of the gels.
I’m not done with eco styler but I started using kinky curly a few years ago based on y’alls recommendation and love it. I agree with what you said about the mane choice, it’s nice but I need that strong hold.

Vitamin E is NOT a preservative. Its an antioxidant. it will do absolutely nothing to stop the growth of gram +/- bacteria, mold, yeast, or fungus. All it will do is prevent the air from causing oxidation or oils from going rancid. Do NOT use it thinking you are safe from bacteria growth.
I saw that bottle in the thumbnail lookin half empty and clicked right away lol. I love to see RU-vidrs show products they actually use instead of products they "used one time a while back" (yet coincidentally posted the video at a time of a trend).
Hi kendra!!! I'm always making note of the products that you and kelsey use: makeup/hair bc I love everything y'all use, although I'm looking for a dewy foundation that will make my skin look good. I don't have bad skin. I just like for my makeup to look really good bc I have combination skin. Your hair and makeup's on point as always! :)
Sharon Delancy not true My hair is 21 inches. Just use instant conditioners as your styler, such as Treesemme,aussie vo5,and suave and you would be ok.
I absolutely love Camille rose and Kinky curly curling custard!! I don’t know if you have tried Mielle pomegranate and honey curling custard but it smells amazing the results are amazing as well!!

I love Uncle funkys never really used anything but that that but getting it is beyond annoying I love going to the store to grab what I need and in Arizona that is not a option so I am Glade to know kinky curly is so similar to Uncle funkys
I used the ecostyler and wetline for awhile but the problem was for me they were inconsistent. It was a 50/50 chance wether it would look ok or I would have to start over the next day and it was never what I would consider amazing. AND THEN I tried the Kinky Curly. It was kind of watery and I didn't have high hopes and for the cost I really thought I would be disappointed but the next morning my hair was doing exactly what I had always wanted it to do. The issue with the Kinky Curly is now it's getting hard to find at least where I live and even Amazon is out of it most of the time or it's price gouged. So I just bought the Camille Rose. They seem to be similar. I'm hoping it will be a option for when I can't find the Kinky Curly.
I bought the Jesse Curl bc of you and Kelsey and I immediately put the Mane choice one on my wishlist you knocked it out of the park with this video bc I stayed away from gels bc I thought they weren’t healthy for your hair but I’m sooo happy for your recommendations and I will be try some more of these thank you 💗😍

kinky curly has some of the best ingredients out of all the products you showed. but ive never used it. i hate crunchy hair but i'm more inclined to try it now
