Yeah sis your right... Also when stray kids were featured in idol room with coni and doni I felt bad because of how they.. How do we put it... Mock Changbin about the Binsual stuff... Like the new host of Weekly Idol even acknowledge Changbin as the group's "Binsual" and skz is a lot more comfortable there than in idol room... Bang Chan even wrote a song for Weekly Idol and it is deeply appreciated by the female host and I would even prefer that kind of appreciation to Suga's composed song instead of such mockery.. Edit: Weekly Idol hosts even used Bang Chan's composed song for their next episode...

The -sad- thing is that korean comedy thrives off emotion and reaction unlike witty, satirical, ‘smart’ comedy we have in the west and often Koreans don’t get sarcastic jokes but think -stupid- things like pushing people or mocking things is funny...... which can cause a lot of prob in school settings too.... in Japan it’s similar to Korea where they have those game shows where people actually get hurt and end up swallowing cockroaches and stuff........ and I feel like sometimes the hosts and comedians can get lost in the act and role of performing this type of comedy but I think they need to know boundaries in harm like that push and shove....... as a Korean, idk why Koreans don’t see the danger......... this kind of humor can really become a problem especially *if someone gets hurt* or even harassed intentionally or unintentionally .. there are jokes like pulling out chairs from under people that can cause permanent spinal injury or overloading all classwork on one student as a ‘joke’ but can really be deemed bullying in a recurring and oppressive manner but taken normally in the culture of the school in the context of Korean culture. I’m sure Korean comedians are really great people but what I’m saying is that it will be a problem if physical harm jokes or demeaning attitudes are normalized not just for comedy but real life settings and it wouldn’t be very funny if someone on a show started bleeding due to injury for the sake of a joke.

I agree with japan but in Korea it's a liitle bit different I know they can come off sometimes really rude but that's just how it is and the Korean public likes it. Weekly idol isn't the only variety show who does that sometimes idols to find it funny. But international fans do not find it funny because we grow up with a different kind of humor that's why we find it so offensive but maybe of screen they are probably two different people it just an act sometimes and people have to understand that. Also alot of people think just bc they like kpop that they know everything about Korean culture that's what irritates me the most

That's not sad lol. We Mock things in America for humor too, that's why SNL exists, thats why American Pie, Family Guy and South Park were so popular. yeah, I mean got7 will prank each other, but at the same time they would never do it about family. But also I watched with them on, these two and there was one where it was another show and they made bambam say the full names of his siblings. Now I know why he sometimes doesn't know, it's because they always say their nick names, not their full names. But also how they were trying to make Mark cried and jackson got protective. I mean within got7, they know why he is sad, but to make him do it that's another story. even the videos they show as punshinment were harsh, like it's one thing if we see it or if the members see it and joke about it it's family, but with them it's more harsh. Kelly Van I agree with you. Comedy isn’t funny anymore when it gets intertwined with things like Politics and War. I am Syrian and I did feel kinda offended that they take things like war too lightly to put it into the wrong context , just to seem funny , when they actually came out as very lame . Also when they try and make fun of idols , sometimes they seriously cross the line and the idols literally look so uncomfortable. I can’t imagine what would have happened to NCT dream if they went to Weekly Idol and the hosts were still Doni and Coni, as when Renjun said he believes in Aliens , the new hosts didn’t make fun of him at all, but if the MCs were Doni and Coni, they wouldn’t let Renjun be without making fun of it somehow or making the whole group seem uneasy .

They're friends with Jackson and N. Jackson had been on the show several times without his members and loves to talk. They tried giving everyone a chance to talk but Jackson would come and speak over them for comedic purposes, but the others still needed to be given a chance to talk. Doni & Coni are close to Jackson though. They also made a boy group with N and Jackson (and Hyuk) so they're closer to N than to the rest of VIXX. @nadeerare
@nadeerare 5 лет назад
Not everything that the general public deem as acceptable is actually acceptable when you see it with enough decency and common sense. If the general public think that being racist is okay does it really make it okay? When the gp is okay with making fun of someone bcs of how they look does it make it any less rude and hurtful to the victims? Doni and coni may or may not do it without any ill intentions, but whos to say that the guests are completely okay with it and not feel hurt at all? Some cultures are wonderful and needs to be preserved but some cultures cd be actually innappropriate for maybe its actually harmful mentally or physically and should be left behind. God knows how d and c actually managed to do this dickery for 7 years and not be called out at all and change for the better smh. This is not culture shock, this just explains and shows how inconsiderate they can be at times to others
@CJ-zo1fs
@CJ-zo1fs 5 лет назад
@@nadeerare I feel this might make me sound crazy but I still believe it falls under culture shock To talk about racism / culture for a second let's use the black people watermelon stereotype, this only applies to African Americans, this cultural stereotype is irrelevant to people from the African continent so in turn the GP in Africa won't view that portrayal as offensive / racist, meaning in that continent it isn't racist and it only becomes racist when someone who is not of that culture or who has been influenced by a foreign culture deems it racist and with that said D and C, from a Korean cultural perspective, it could be that what they are doing isn't rude at all but rather seen as playful, what we perceive as them being assholes might be in a Korean cultural subtext viewed as them being cute and funny and on top of that the idols don't actually seem shocked by D and C's behaviour which could imply that they are aware and or okay with this type of behaviour "culturally" and in turn this shows how Koreans and westerners have a difference of perception It's kinda like showing cleavage in Korea / Japan, if a woman shows cleavage in those countries they are perceived as vulgar and overly sexual but in most western countries the same woman will be seen as powerful, confident and respectable an similar situation to this is how the Oscars and the KBS drama Awards are both seen as very professional and respectable ceremonies but in America Beyonce could perform in a sexy outfit and received no criticism from Americans while Hyolyn recieved mass criticism from Koreans for her sexy performance at KBS awards which shows that a difference in culture does have an extreme effect on what people perceive as offensive, funny and even racist The question of whether it's right or wrong then falls into a gray zone ( and will mainly be influenced by your cultural upbringing ) but what we can say is that those of us who do not belong to that culture, tend to be shocked when we see these differences. in turn culture shock Though I do want to add that I do not endorse how D and C behave cuz I do feel it's rude and I definitely agree with you that there are plenty of things that should change in other peoples cultures especially aspects that mock others for their appearances. I guess all I was trying to say is that I feel this particular situation still falls under culture shock. sorry for writing a whole ass bible scripture 😂

When they left Weekly Idol, I said "Bring back Doni and Coni as hosts! I miss them! They're more funny!" But shit, when I saw other eps of Weekly Idol, I saw how they 'disrespected' some of my idols like Day6. But the thing I hate most is some people keeps on turning me down saying 'they're comedians'. But what they do isn't funny anymore. Remember that DAY6 ep in Weekly Idol? Yeah. It was Day6's first time attending a reality/variety show. It's not ASC where their member was an MC, it was a variety show where they literally don't know anything, so they were uncomfortable and awkward. But what stirred me up the most was how they talked to Day6 and like they keep comparing them to N.Flying (???). I also saw a subtitle or maybe just an illusion where they said, 'Dowoon can't play the drums.' Okay, first of all! He's a drummer! Like, I may be wrong or what but whatever. And in Idol Room! That Stray Kids ep. 2 fucked up my mood. 1 was when they told Felix and Minho or reminded them of how they got eliminated and how they told Felix to ask JYP why he got eliminated. I can't remember if Felix was the one to ask of the two of them made them ask it. It looked like Felix and Minho was trying to hold back their real emotions. I also thought that Felix looked like he was about to cry. 2 was calling Changbin a liar for being 'Binsual'. First of FUCKING ALL! If he says he's a visual, he's a visual! They kept on calling Changbin too. Like, do the two of them hate people with deep ass raspy voices? First Dowoon, second Felix and now Changbin. I know I shouldn't be offended with these simple reasons but if you're a stan of the group you'll actually feel offended, despite the fact of them 'joking' around. If you actually watch the EP of Day6 in Weekly Idol, you'll see how uncomfortable they looked in some scenes. They even hit Jae so hard as if he was some kind of body builder. And if you watch Idol Room of Stray Kids, you'll see what I meant of always calling Changbin out. It felt like they were isolating him. Thanks♥️

(Hello and welcome to a different way to think about some things:) I think a lot of people may be forgetting that these shows are filmed over a 3 to 4 hour period. We get about an hour of content and that’s all we get to see. We have NO CLUE how they act together in the parts the editors cut out, and many of these teasing bits (singling someone out/mocking rap/etc) are made to the members or groups that they’re close to already. That’s like calling your friend names in jest because you joke around like that. (Lots of idols close to them have jabbed back at them calling them their nickname of ‘pigs’ and everything. They even call themselves pigs and the subtitles do too CONSTANTLY.) As a multi-fan I can understand how people may see these instances as ‘being mean to their boys’ but if you really look at it, none of these idols (except for with the Syria comment) look actually uncomfortable. I’ve seen so many episodes of both Weekly Idol and Idol Room, and the only ones who have ever looked truly awkward (instead of just tired/waiting) are rookies (which is completely understandable). Doni and Coni are also known to try to bait some of the shyer idols out of their shells and give them screen-time by playing with them as well. The episode of Weekly Idol where N was gone, Leo took a BIG role (when he didn’t used to speak much) and got way more screen time then he probably would have otherwise. With BTS, I’ve seen many people complain about how Doni and Coni treated them differently between their two appearances. I think that that’s not a matter of BTS getting more ‘popular’ but of Doni and Coni now being more familiar with them. Just look at the difference between their episodes with nervous rookies and then groups like APINK, Infinite, EXID, BTOB, or even Skeckskies. (Or even the difference between NCT’s two episodes. Doni was on Hiatus so that was the first time he’s ever seen them in the second ep, but Coni had met them before and it shows lol) Also, if you’re gonna be mad that Suga didn’t get any screen time please watch the episode again and witness how many cute reactions we get to see from him. Because even though I love him, the guy just didn’t talk that much that episode and so the editors cut him out. It happens. In every show, even with other MCs like Yoo Jaeseok on Infinite Challenge. He was smiling and having a grand old time even though he didn’t take center stage (what a sweetie) Also, can we all just stop saying that Doni and Coni are putting down all the group’s rappers ? If you don’t get the reason why people call it funny , I’ll explain. Doni and Coni make their own music that is mostly comedic where they ‘rap’. Their songs are always super outrageous and silly (take a look at The Impossible Rap or Doni’s collab with G Dragon during Infinite Challenge Song festival) They even told Song Mino that he didn’t pass the rap game they played on one of Winner’s episodes of Weekly Idol. The joke is that they’re really bad, and they’re giving all the really good rappers bad reviews. (The same as the joke Doni had with G Dragon about his fashion not being good enough even though GD is LITERALLY known for his impressive fashion tastes). The joke is “who are you to say this lol”. If you still don’t find it funny, then you can at least understand why they do what they do. It’s not of malicious intent. Most of the time Doni is visibly embarrassed to ‘perform’ in front of the legit idols lol. Like he couldn’t even fully sing his and DEFCON’s song in one episode ! Also, with Stray Kids on Idol Room, they were trying SO HARD for those boys. It was one of my favorite episodes because you could see what kind of pressure Doni and Coni were on to make it a great episode (personally requested by JYP himself). The boys killed it in that episode after they warmed up a bit. We even had the cute “hand him a blanket” moment with Hyunjin. Sometimes I try really hard to understand how people perceive the some of the guy and girl idols to be ‘uncomfortable’. I literally look over clips and repeat them multiple times to try to see that. I understand that they Syria comment made those guys uncomfortable. I saw that one. But some of these other things ? Idk man. TL;DR Before you go and ‘cancel’ them, at least try to understand or at least see why these jokes and actions are even done without the ‘Stan Glasses’ affecting you. I’m a multi fandom fan, and you need to know that doing this is like fighting over who’s eyelashes are the longest (like, why would you do that). You don’t have to like Doni and Coni or even find them funny, but at least stop canceling everything because they don’t treat your idol like the pretty princess/prince we view them as. ☀️🤗

They said he wasn't the visual, they never called him ugly, but by Korean beauty standards he would be. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder obviously, but by their standards Changbin isn't the visual. Doni & Coni are also rappers. When they make fun of someones rap its as a joke. They would never actually call an idols rap bad. They know fans wouldn't like that. They give fake comical tips or if its good they go "Eh, i dont know about that" of something. This is a case of fans being more offended for the idols but Stay Kids were VISUALLY VERY uncomfortable on the show, but it was their first variety show and they didn't know how to react or read the room.

Doni and coni are fun but there are many times when they go too far. In the episode where they are with Twice if you see them full you can see that Jeongyeon pushes him back, but not in a bad way, since Twice has been many times in Idol Room and they are already close with Doni and Coni so there are times in which they annoy each other, but still, they are sometimes very heavy with some idols, obviously I will not put all the examples here, but there is another video where Coni hits Jeongyeon very hard with a type of plastic hammer (? I know it's a variety program but that does not mean it was disrespectful more if it is done in a woman, obviously Jeongyeon laughed at that moment but you can notice that it hurts a lot: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NeudHiN8TwM.html But they have to continue with a reputation and they will not tell anything clearly because they are their seniors and in Korea they are very respectful with their elders, besides Doni and Coni should stop ridiculing some idols, that is my opinion. what about having Jackson think that he was going to see his parents, or maybe even how he was going to go back home to see them, but it was all a prank. there is just some stuff that are not pranks, that are just curl. and I get dark humor, but when it comes to family, including if that person hasn't see them in 5yrs, that's a whole another story.

I used to not really like them before but then a group seventeen that has two chinese members came on a korean holiday or something and they were pretty respectful towards them, they told them they don't have to bow down to the floor (since korean members had to) and that little gesture was pretty. But that doesn't excuse how they pushed twice and what they told to monsta x. Alot of people say onces are overreacting since back in like 2014 they were much more aggresive with some boyband member(s) but nobody complained and I think that's just stupid. Girls are obviously much skinnier and possibly much weaker than them. JYP tends to give a bit harsher diets to idols and they are usually given around time when they go to some shows, award show or are having a comeback so the members weren't in their strongest suits bc diet often drains them out. Even if it didn't make girls uncomfortable it isn't really comfortable for us to watch it.. tell me I'm being overly sensitive but that was just wrong. They aren't buddies or anything like that, they are workmates, so I don't find it very nice...

The thing is... Korean shows are 100% scripted, from A to Z, so if you think they are having fun it’s most probably because they told them to have fun, if the mc’s are only “mocking” one person it’s because they already knew who that person would be. When idols are showing their abilities production has already told them what they had to show. I understand your point, I swear, it’s not nice to see how they act towards some idols but that’s what the audience loves so they have to keep up with the act, don’t worry too much, idols already knew that was gonna happen

If they saw what british comedians say they would probably have a heart attack. We have people make jokes about everything. Nothing is off limits here. I've been following Korean music and entertainment for over 15 years and I get exactly what you mean. The problem is that these "new people" who just heard about South Korea's existence recently have been popping up and talking all over youtube about certain shows, songs, idols, etc. as if they know what they're talking about, when they don't even understand the culture of ANOTHER COUNTRY, nor have they ever gone there in the first place. There are countries where women are stoned to death and human trafficking is common, but it seems that's not interesting enough for these people to make videos about. I don't want to generalize here, but the people who have been running their mouths on youtube over Korea are mostly Americans. Certain Americans just NEED to have their opinions, which they consider as facts for some odd reason, on *everything* even if they don't understand it or are a part of it. I find it so damn strange.

I feel like I'm the only one who actually does like Doni and Coni and tbh idk why their being attacked for things tht a lot of shows do. I find them very entertaining mostly cause their humor is wat I enjoy and they make shows fun. I hate shows where the MCs seem to suck up to the idols and r borderline worshipping them, it just seems rlly fake and I'm never able to sit them like for instance I can barely sit through weekly idol with the new hosts. But basically to address the main things tht ppl hve been criticizing them for... 1.) (They're jokes r rlly harsh and insensitive.) Tbh idk y ppl make it such a big deal for only them when on shows like knowing bro they make the exact same type of jokes or hve the exact same type of humor 2.) (They hit idols rlly hard on the head with the hammer thing.) No offense but this is str8 up the dumbest one cause those hammer things dont hurt, multiple variety shows use them and hit just as hard, idols sometimes use it on their own friends or band mates 3.) (They always choose one member from the group to pick on like for instance in Got7 it's Jackson.) The ppl tht they choose to "pick on" r usually their friends and r ppl tht they know can take it Overall I think the hate train on 4.) (They get overly physical with idols.) Although I do agree tht sometimes they get overly physical with the members but then again so do a lot of other idols or MCs so idk y Doni and Coni r the only ones getting called out for it 5.) (They get overly riled up when girls groups do sexy stuff.) Idk if I'm the only one but the overly happy expression seems super fake and exaggerated and I dont think they r serious Overall the hate train on Doni and Coni is a bit hypocritical cause ppl r hating on them for things tht they dont even look twice at for other MCs and most of their criticism rlly depends on the viewer like for instance a lot of ppl seem to find their jokes untasteful and unfunny, whilst I quite enjoy most of them. I am mad tht they made fun of the whole binsual thing tho (Oof this is long)

But there are also other shows like Knowing bros, Running man(when they’re actually talking not playing games), “인생술집” (don’t know in eng lol), Happy together, and more which have a sense of humour in conversations between celebrities, and I guess what you guys would call “smart” humour. My point being, stop generalizing. Thanks for joining my ted talk👋 Edit: I never justified the offensive jokes or actions, and never said I personally found them funny. I am middle eastern myself, I used to Iraq live but around the time when ISIS came around we moved to America because my family wanted me and my brother to safe from everything. I have been living here for 5-6 years now and I stumbled upon this video about a year ago, Doni and Coni started talking about Syria, Iraq and along with other countries I believe correct if I am wrong. At first, I thought it was just a joke but the more I thought about it the more it hurt it me because even though there was bombing and all that dangerous things going on middle eastern countries are beautiful in every way possible and I could prove that if you need me too. People stayed happy with their families there as I know this from experience because I went there a couple times. I totally agree with you that they should be taken down from Idol Room, yes they might forget sometimes because they are having fun but they also forget the fans who are watching and noticing the small things that hurt their favorite idol, making fun of their choreography, pushing/shoving, planking Jackson ( which was terrible and made me cry so much ), when they hit a girl so hard with a hammer she almost cried and making fun of CHANGBIN ( like that man could have dissed everyone on that show but he didn’t and he kept it inside to keep a good show) what they did was uncalled for and very annoying since I watched it and got mad myself. One more thing, I always watch Weekly Idol and you can see how comfortable ( kinda) idols are when they are there which is why Weekly idols became one of my favorites since they make idols feel comfortable and help those who are underrated, other shows like Knowing Bro’s is also a good show since they are idols themselves and they can relate with some things. They also pranked Jackson in a very personal manner. So back in I believe 2015/2016, Jackson is a member whose family is oversea's, he missed his family a lot especially his mother. Doni and Coni pranked him that his mother was going to come into the room, you could just see how happy and excited he was to see his mother in such a long time but the minute they waited longer he felt uncomfortable and second-guessing if his mother was coming, he even got up and checked outside, yelling 'Mom!, Mom!' and then Doni and Coni just hit him at the worst time possible, you could see the other members tried to laugh it off but wanted to 'discipline' Doni and Coni, Jackson was on the verge of dragging them. This isn't the only time they did this to Jackson, on another variety show with other K-pop Idols, Doni and Coni held a 'contest' to see which Idol was given the chance to go to their hometown, Jackson legitimately gave it his all by even squatting down with Doni in his hands, eventually, he won. On the night of the flight, the managers told Doni and Coni to tell him that he wouldn't be able to go because he had music bank the next day, Jackson had the thought that he would be absent for music back just to see his family. But Doni and Coni wanted him to 'suffer' as a joke, they made him wear a king outfit, praising him and hyping him up, all 3 of them got into a van, Doni and Coni told Jackson that they would wait outside for him to change as it's a bit weird and uncomfortable wearing a king outfit at an airport, as Jackson changed his managers started driving off taking him to music back and Doni and Coni waved him off. This legit put Jackson in a terrible state, he even started crying after the camera's stopped recording him. Doni and Coni need to get their attitude fixed, because how disrespectful they've been haven't been going on for just a year, it's been happening for years til now.

And just on the topic of doni I just want to wish him well; Doni had been hospitalized due to his anxiety disorder awhile ago and even took a very long hiatus so I hope he’s okay now and isn’t struggling or anything.

I don't think "problematic" should be used. The guys are commedians so yes, I agree with the fact that some things they did wasn't good, but the word that should be used is "ignorant". They probably don't do it in a bad way, like to harm people but they just don't think before talking, or doing some actions. Just wanna say something else: I know some people will drag the Suga/Jin thing in that, because when they went to Weekly Idol they were a bit ignored but you can see on the videos that they weren't "ignored" they did what other members also did but it was cut by the productor because maybe the part wasn't "funny" Or they didn't have enough time. So Idk if in this case, they are the ones to blame.

geez people are reaaaally butthurt nowadays... man y’all as an inspirit who has been watching weekly like since infinite’s first appearance, i don’t see anything wrong. maybe it’s cultural difference or maybe the idols are uncomfortable but don’t speak up, but it doesn’t mean y’all can diss/shame people here and there by assuming how others feel. the cheering when idols do sexy dances, they do it for girl AND GUY groups. guys. take a chill pill geez.

Care to explain about how they are physical with the idols and always mock them like we are not butthurt were just not blind like yu can literally tell that the shit they say isn't entertaining no one its just rude it makes them come off as bully (my opinion, and I'm not arguing with yu just wanted to tell YU why everyone is agreeing)

okay this is bs. all these incidents are scripted. they do, say, and react the way the PD wants. don’t you ever notice that with groups their comfortable they don’t act like that because the PD knows them and knows how they would react. Everyone is just so sensitive. people mention how they get crazy over girl groups doing sexy dance but they go crazy for guy ones too. bam bam, infinite, golden child (the guy dancing and doing splits). it’s also a cultural difference. in america they would probably be sued for abuse or something. in korea it’s normal, childish comedy. trust, if they were actually hurting people wouldn’t they be shut down? these idols are adults, being hit with a plastic hammer that makes more noise then inflict pain. Doni and Coni are some of the most loved people in the industry. they can turn the most boring people( i’ll say shy as well) into loud people. and off set they are even kinder. they are kind people and making more money then more then half the people hating hateful things in the comments. so yeah a lot of idols love them, twice, gfriend, got7, and more !

Being a Syrian myself I found what they said absolutely disgusting. They made a joke out of something that is killing millions of people everyday, and it is completely unacceptable. This isn’t even me commenting about it as a stan, it’s me bringing awareness to it as a Syrian who took extreme offense to the ignorant shit they’ve said. I’d even go as far as to say they deserve more hate than what they’ve already gotten.

when seventeen was on weekly idol, they forced woozi to be kissed by all the members even though it's well known that he dislikes skinship... (he actually likes it, but only if it's with his members and if it's natural, and not just for fanservice). after forcing him to do that, they then proceeded to ALSO kiss him and then PICK HIM UP AND THROW HIM AROUND. i felt so uncomfortable - woozi is tiny and adorable and the concept of that is funny, but i hate how it's with doni and coin, he is so clearly uncomfortable with it
