I've lived 5 miles away from Donnigton Park since 1981. I've been to the museum a few times, and a countless race events. I was there in '93 to watch Mansell in the TOCA shootout, standing about 200 metres up from the old hairpin, very close to where Mansell got it sideways, then got a nudge from Tiff Needell, pushing him into the wall. I was also there in April '93 when Senna lapped everyone except Damon Hill.

I drove a Ferrari around there and I wish I knew more about how good the GP collection was and went to see it before it closed. So stupid I was back then
I been here a few of times and loved it every time I was there 😊 its a shame that its permanently closed now which i could never understand because its a big part of Donington Park. Blame MSVR and the arsehole that now own it. But again the museum was just a special place to be 👌
Unfortunately Tom Wheatcroft, the founder and owner of the collection died in 2009 and his son took over and kept it till 2018 when he decided to close due to 'financial reasons'. Well, I dont really think it was true, Kevin, his son just wasn't into F1 and he created his own Wheatrcoft collection with military vehicles. Donnington Collection was the biggest F1 car collection in the world and sadly it has been broken, meaning most cars have been sold or been returned to their original owners as some of them weren't owned by Tom. Very sad story for any F1 fans.
As far as I know all of these cars are original as they were used, and included all the mechanical parts too. So I think they had engines and the whole package. But to be honest it doesn't really matter. You wouldn't see it anyway.
