@Corner Slice Gaming There's no explanation Known,Rareware devs have talked about it but they said they don't remember(Yup...😅). Although a few have said that they might have done it just for the sake of having something new...
@Corner Slice Gaming pretty interesting theory you got actually and yeah It's a bit weird to think about dixie and kiddy in this game,Like they are not mentioned at all in this game(It's almost like they vanished from the face of the earth or something).
I think Super Smash Bros 64 survey would be really cool because there aren't "ten thousand" options, a lot of people played the game and finally, you can ask alot (favorite color or break the target, favorite character, favorite smash attack etc. etc.. You can customize it however you like) For me personally the most interesting would be favorite stage, character and ITEM.
Makes sense that Fungi Forest is so loved as it's based on a scrapped Banjo-Kazooie level. BK had amazing level design (a BK survey would be hype btw).
I honestly always thought fungi forest and Click clock wood were very similar, it surprised me to hear that fungi was based off a scrapped bk level, makes you wonder what it would’ve been like, I’ve always loved fungi forest, but found the click clock level more tedious, and not as enjoyable
I think a lot of people dislike Crystal Caves for the way it is kind of disorienting. I like the world, but when playing it again there were a lot of times where I didn't know where I was for a few seconds, even when I know the whole world layout. Also yeah Gloomy Galleon makes sense for three reasons: - Swimming (which isn't bad on it's own, but it is when paired with:) - Constant back and forth with switches and timers - Water rising and lowering (which adds more to back and forth)
I think the biggest problem with Crystal Caves is the Klubba that constantly hails down stalactites every so often. It’s really annoying when the great music is interrupted by panic-inducing music and hazards to avoid. Sure, if you know what to do you can take care of it early on, but if you don’t, it’ll hamper your attempts to collect everything.
Also the navigating the level is a nightmare because there is no map, and everything looks the same, also not to mention the poor draw distance of the N64 adds to the frustration.
I replayed it recently and guess what was the very last thing I did on this level...? stopped Klubba from constantly interrupting the nice music... I 100% the level and didn't even get to experience it without the constant interruptions. ugh. In my opinion they should've made the music dynamically swap instruments (Like going from DK island to K Rool's ship) so it was still the same medley but with more tense instruments. Otherwise I'd say Crystal Caves was still one of my top favorites
Man wasn't expecting Gloomy Galleon to be that hated, like sure it's a water level but DK64 has decent swimming controls and no breath mechanic, as well as water being absolutely broken to hell and back in this game, all that to say that it's more fun than most water levels
I’d say its because it brings out the worst aspects of DK64 as a game, this was usually the level i would stop at during replays. The game is already slow paced, given the movement speed, size of the worlds, and constant kong switching. And now I have to stare at a blue filter and slowly swim forward for a good chunk of it, which makes the visuals kinda monotone and takes away the unique movement options the kongs at least had. Its also hard keeping track of collectibles in a 3D swimming thing, since you have to sweep vertically a lot more often. Im sure some folk will say its not that bad or whatever but, it is easily the worst level in the game.
I reckon Banjo Kazooie & Tooie would be great future surveys to try out. I’d imagine the scoring system and categories would go like this: * Platform of first play-through (N64/ XB360/ XBONE/ XBSX|S/ NSO/ Emulator or other) * Completion rates (All Jiggies & Music Notes/ All Jiggies but not all Notes/ All Notes but not all Jiggies/ Not all Jiggies & Notes/ Not finished yet) * Favourite Banjo title (Yes/ The other N64 Banjo title/ A non-N64 Banjo title) * Worlds [Ranked by Likability/ Most & least fav. world/ Transformation likability/ Most & Least fav. transformation/ Most & Least fav. move/ Most & Least fav. Jiggy/ Average Jiggy rating)
I’m surprised Tiny Kong ended up as the least favourite playable character of the bunch, especially when Chunky’s arguably the most redundant out of the lot plus could’ve easily had all his moves transferred to DK himself, and at least Tiny’s got something unique to offer with her shrink ability. I was spot on with predicting Gloomy Galleon as the least favourite world though; the amount of swimming’s just so monotonous. Edit: I swear Tiny was called Trixie.
Swimming also makes a kongs helpless. Doesn't help that pufftoss kind of does the same without having you swim... it adds insult to injury that it's the largest level.
They're all fun characters, but I just didn't care for Tiny Kong's design and her bow always felt awkward to shoot being that the projectile felt "smaller."
But he's not slow; Hunky Chunky is the fastest way to move, and normal-sized Chunky is faster than several other kongs. His air-game is great as well, as his attack lets him just hover there for like a second. His gun is also by-far the most powerful. Note that, despite this, I still prefer Tiny to him; I'm not sure who would be my least favorite, probably Lanky, but even then it's more of a "someone's got to be last" kind of situation, I like all of the kongs.
i feel like the newcomers were treated somewhat strangely. tiny got aged up to a teenager, making her no longer live up to her namesake, while chunky and lanky barely made any appearances afterwards despite being well received. i would settle for them making a proper return
Agreed. I doubt we’ll see those three again outside of racing games. I feel like if there was an action-adventure game they can’t use aged up Tiny, and wouldn’t use Lanky or Chunky. That said, I can’t bring myself to use Cranky, because I just don’t find him fun.
for the topic of doing another video like this you could do the same for Banjo Kazooie and tooie. >transformations >playable characters: Mumbo, Banjo, Kazooie, Banjo and kazooie(as a team since tooie splits them up) >Important NPCs : Bottles, Banjo, Grunty, Humba wumba, Jamjars, Kazooie, Mumbo, Tootie. >worlds >jiggies >bosses (tooie and kazooie both got great bosses even if they are harder to call boss in Kazooie, yet each level has one) the options are seemingly endless
Yes I do plan on doing Banjo-Kazooie eventually I just still don't have a clear idea about the questions I'd ask / what to include.(for example I'm still not sure if I should include gruntildas lair for favorite level)
@@Snooplax Gruntilda's lair is kind of convoluted, yea it might count as a level, yet only 10 jiggies appear inside of it and most of them are triggered by gruntilda switches within the other levels, so I suppose you only get 1 legit jiggy in there which is the tutorial jiggy, all others seem like "bonus" jiggies for the respective levels. But I'm totally looking forward that ranking.
I don't know how much of a Kirby fan you are, but I think a Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards survey could be really interesting. It's one of the most unique Kirby games, and you could have a ranking system for the worlds and/or levels, favorite buddies (Dedede, Adeline, Waddle Dee), bosses, minigames and of course favorite power combos (apparently the name for combining two copy abilities) and/or copy abilities on their own. Angry Aztec probably scored so low because of how relatively empty it feels when compared to Jungle Japes. The burning sand probably frustrated a lot of players, and there are quite a few collectibles you can't immediately get, which is okay if it's the third or fourth world, but I can imagine some players not really digging the fact that the second world closes off so much stuff. I always liked Angry Aztec, but I can totally see where they're coming from. And yeah, Gloomy Galleon makes sense, a lot of swimming, empty spaces, the boss fight isn't all that great, and that cursed mechanical fish.
Fungai forest was supposed to be in banjo Kazooie but was scrapped in development it was re used as a dk64 level later you'll notice alot of the levels design is fairly simular to what a banjo koozie level would look like in the end its pretty much been unchanged since banjo Koozie development it was only minorly tweaked to be a dk64 level
@@DemonWhisper1 Actually no banjo kazooie was one of the first n64 titles at the time developers were experimenting the limits of the new tech presented to them they made many worlds during banjo kazooies development sadly they couldn't fit them all so quite a bit of content they made got scrapped and did not make to final release rare never made a real comment if they preferred click clock design over fungai but this is normal for scrapped ideas to be featured in other games it saves devs resources and time fungai forest at the time just couldn't work out fully with the limitations present during the early days due to how huge the level was witch is why it was featured in dk64 because with the pak devs had way much more room to work with fungai got scrapped due to a limitation issue not a stake of preference
Tiny is definitely my fave Kong to play as so I'm surprised she scored so low! Her floating mechanic is a lot of fun and her boss fight in Frantic Factory is my favorite. Comparatively, I felt like Chunky was underutilized.
might be from the fact that all the kongs are popular, but someone has to rank at the bottom. DK and diddy are recurring characters and so have already gathered a fanbase, lanky being an orangutan makes him more unique, and chunky gets some of the best boss fights and has a more noticeable character than the rest. tiny is popular in her own right, but one thing might hold her back above all else: competition. she effectively replaced dixie, so dixie fans might view her less favorably. in comparison, kiddy was not as popular in DKC3, so few mourned when chunky took his role in DK64
I mentioned this when you posted the poll as well, but I absolutely love Gloomy Galleon. I was one of the few that marked it as my favorite. But I also definitely understand why people hate it.
I voted Angry Aztec as my least favorite, because when i was playing the game as an uncoordinated child, i kept falling into the stupid burning sand. I tend to dislike lava/fire levels in games for a similar reason
I'm... surprised about these results. Tiny was always my favoutite kong with her twirl ability to hover and her sliding kick. The sax was pretty cool too. And Gloomy Galleon bieng so low? Sure it's not a winner, but I liked the mood and ambiance so much. I disliked Franctic Factory much more with its disconnected areas and samey looks everywhere (and that vertical production room...). And Crystal Caves is my favourite with its tranquil music and ice-like appearance. I guess it's kinda shocking to see the general opinion when you're not an active part of its community despite having beaten it 101% (twice). Nice video as usual by the way!
maybe separating "favorite kong" and "favorite kong to play as" would of helped, I picked Tiny as my favorite too since she is fun to platform with and can get around really quickly. It would of been interesting to see how many people like the kong for the kong and how many like it for how they actually play
Tiny was always my favorite of the game, too. My favorite levels were Gloomy Galleon (I love lighthouses) and Creepy Castle (I love spooky stuff). Frantic Factory for me was a decent level but that boss battle was so annoying.
Gloomy Galleon was absolutely robbed...definitely my favorite level in the game! Who cares if it's filled with water when the kongs have gills and can swim underwater forever?
I gave Gloomy Galleon a like but honestly the score is exactly what I expected, a lot of people don't like the way it is designed and get lost a lot in it
Same, I love lighthouses so it was tied for my favorite level. And Tiny was my favorite Kong to play as (just call me Miss Unpopular Opinions, I guess, haha)
I really appreciated both Gloomy Galleon and Crystal Caves on my last playthrough in 2019. Galleon feels the most depressing and induces the most anxiety with its time trials - a miserable time for a kid, but a welcome challenge for the jaded adult; meanwhile, the chaotic serenity and disorienting layout provides Crystal Caves with the most dreamlike feel of the levels. All of DK 64's worlds masterfully wove feelings into their design, but these two levels rise above the rest. You can kind of group the first three, Fungi, and Castle into their own category of "core levels" (factory the least but oh well) whereas caves and galleon absolutely submerge you in their confusion. Helm has a similar uniqueness, except its linear final-countdown gimmick limits the "core-ness" of it. Galleon and Caves sit at the limit of plainness and confusion. The other area which sticks out - DK Isles - pushes things too far, having the weakest hub world of any N64 collectathon. You must agree that DK's head makes for a weird map. The map also feels empty. It only ranked so highly for it being an icon.
Yeah, Dk Isles is a poor man's hub world. It feels like a cardboard cut out compared to Gruntilda's Lair. I also generally feel the Crocodile Isle worlds leave a greater impact. The only Dk isles world that stands out in my eyes is Fungi Forest because of its immersive day night cycle and more charming characters than any other world. Think about it. All of the Dk Isle worlds have retread bosses (I consider Tiny's Spider fight in Fungi Forest to be the true boss there). It's clear Crystal Caves and Fungi Forest had to have their bosses rushed. Mad Jack is classic, I've grown to like King Kut Out more over the years, and Pufftoss is far more interesting than both iterations of Dogadon and Armydillo. If we had the same thematic heft put into the Crocodile Isle worlds into Dk Isles this game would be looked at in a much warmer light. As stands, despite its ridiculous amount of collectibles, there are sections that feel undercooked. In terms of personality this game is King of them all and the music is so important in experiencing this game as intended. Try playing Dk64 without music. I dare you
I'm a renowned waterphobe, so Gloomy Galleon is just a miserable time by default for me, and in playing DK64 recently I realized something about it. While the lack of air meter is a blessing (no drowning!), it also means that they felt free to put in *way* too much empty space. It feels like they figured, "hey, they're not gonna drown, may as well make the level absolutely huge!". Even if the level's footprint may not be the biggest, the fact that you have free movement through all three dimensions -- and most of that free movement is through empty space full of water and nothing else -- it takes forever to get anywhere. Pair that with lots of timers, and it's a right pain. If the level weren't so darn deep I think it wouldn't be half so bad. And for my part, I recall putting Tiny down as my least favorite back when this survey went out, for twofold reasons: one, she replaced Dixie, which I was very offended by; but second, I always had this weird and completely irrational sense that the devs really favored her, which annoyed me as a kid. Like, she's the one who gets the special 201st banana! I always felt like, why does the newcomer knockoff of an old character get the special banana, and not Donkey Kong? That, and it just always felt to me like she got all of the cool areas and all of the cool, useful abilities-- like entrance to Helm lobby being locked behind her Monkeyport, she dealt with the giant Kosha in Caves, so many of the special minigames and sub-areas are hers... I realize now that's totally silly and irrational, but it annoyed me so badly as a kid back in the N64 days. You tell me to like someone and I'm going to dig in my heels, and I guess I hold a grudge, lol.
I pretty much always seem to align with the majority, except that I dislike Diddy Kong. His airborne controls were awful. And I’m sorry Snooplax, I despise Aztec 😅 It felt empty, frustrating to navigate, and generically themed.
Yup, Angry Aztec is the clear worst world in my eyes. I don't like desert levels. Gobi's Valley is also my least favorite in Banjo. This poll also gave way too much credit to the abysmal Dk Isles (which is memorable solely because it is the hub with great music.) The actual place is dead compared with Isle o Hags or Gruntilda's Lair. Creepy Castle/Fungi Forest is tops for me. So much thematic depth in these two compared with the rest. Crystal Caves is my biggest disappointment. The music belies the world like Dk Isles as it is mostly grey and forgettable instead of featuring more varieties of crystals (glitter gulch mine comes to mind and that is probably the weakest BT world so maybe cavernous worlds are fairly hard to execute well). In order: Castle/Forest, Factory, Galleon, Jungle, Caves, Aztec/Dk Isles
I greatly appreciate your analysis of the data. I personally find analyzing data and explaining the reasons for results to be very interesting such as a possible explanation as to why most people said Diddy Kong was their favorite for instance. I hope you make more videos like this, I am quite interested how you would make one for Banjo Kazooie / Tooie
another thing of note for gloomy galleon is for a fair number of players, it was a "that one banana" situation. There was a gamebreaking glitch that made the diddy submarine banana almost impossible to get if you grabbed the sniper scope before doing it. And every time you failed, it was a long back-and-forth until you could try again.
At least compared to other platformers from the N64 Era specially Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie, the Kongs can breathe underwater with no restrictions regardless of location so... Gloomy Galleon isn't as annoying as it could/would be if they had an air meter that kept halting progress even further, specially when they have so many side rooms underwater with the 5 door sunken ship and similar.
Man, I can’t believe I missed this survey! Well, for the next survey I think we ought to do Ocarina of Time’s dungeons and bosses, since we’ve already done the masks and dungeons in Majora’s Mask.
Basically, I like any world in this game except for Gloomy Galleon. I actually like all 5 Kongs. Donkey, Diddy, Tiny, Lanky and Chunky. Here's my top 7 list of the worlds and their bosses in my opinion from best to worst. 1. Fungi Forest (I love the the ability to change the time of the day in this world, because there are some tasks you can do during the day and others at night. Yes the race against the owl as Diddy and the race against a bunny as Lanky were hard, but they were really enjoyable in my opinion. Plus the 2nd Dogadon boss fight was really entertaining.) 2. Creepy Castle (I enjoy how spooky this world is. The final boss world in the game that's not King K. Rool. Just listen to the music playing in the background as you are outside the castle. It gets super dark and rains outside. But once you are inside the castle no matter what entrance you go through, it spookier inside the castle than outside. This spooky world also makes you nervous about falling to your death. That being said, the boss fight against King Kut Out is challenging and fun. Yes it can be hard to defeat him and easy to lose a Kong, but entertaining boss battle nonetheless.) 3. Frantic Factory (Who wants to work in a factory, well that would be the Kongs. Yes the challenges are tough especially when you play the DK Arcade game, but I love how you can go from room to room and get the machines up and running to collect some golden bananas for each Kong. If you collect 15 banana medals, you get to play Cranky's Jetpac game. If you beat that, you get a Rareware reward and if you beat the DK Arcade classic for the 2nd time, you also get the Nintendo reward with the Nintendo 64 logo. You can also free Chunky from the cage suspended high in the air. Plus the boss fight against Mad Jack is epic. It's a creative way to fight a boss.) The next three worlds and bosses are great, but not much to either of them. 4. Crystal Caves (This one is pretty good. Not great, but good. If you want a cold world, I would've expected to see some snow, but this cave world isn't bad. The only thing I dislike about it is the crystals will rain down on you at anytime unless you stop the giant Kosha with an instrument playing. Other than that, the world is good and the second Armydillo boss fight is slightly better than the first.) 5. Angry Aztec (I don't care that much for desert levels, but this one is okay. You can rescue both Tiny and Lanky by opening their access ways. I won't say much about this world, but the 1st Dogadon fight is pretty good as Diddy. Just three hits with a TNT barrel and you get a key. 6. Jungle Japes (The first world of the game is a good introduction. It's sad that this was the only world to play as Rambi, because in the previous games except for the third Donkey Kong Country game, you could use him to run over enemies. He was definitely my favorite animal buddy. Nevertheless, good world to kickoff a game that has a lot of ups and downs. The first Armydillo fight was okay, but not my cup of tea. You can really see for part of the fight and it's frustrating when you can't time your tnt barrel throwing right, but he's not hard to beat thankfully. This last world I will rank, you guys will know what I'm talking about as this is the worst world in the game. 7. Gloomy Galleon (Normally I like a good Donkey Kong water world or level, but this is not one of them. Everything about this world except for transforming to Enguarde is a mess. I can't really see anything under the poorly designed water. When you light up the lighthouse on one side, that side will turn to evening hours while the other stays in the afternoon. What? Is this the best they can do with a water/ocean world? Going into the ships even with the flashlight fish, you can't see half of anything much less where you're swimming. What could be worse than the entirety of this world? Well look no further than the boss fight against Pufftoss. What were they thinking here? Putting Lanky in a boat that's hard to control. Your challenge is to drive through DK stars to activate 3 or 5 posts to electrocute him, and every time you do so, they shorten the amount of time giving you barely any time to react. That's all I have to say about this abomination of a water world.)
I am genuinely shocked Gloomy Galleon still ranked this "high". I deadass expected it to have 15% likes maximum and not even 1% as their favorite. I am also genuinely surprised Creepy Castle isn't higher. Whenever DK64 comes up I hear people praising the world so I would have assumed it would be at at least 80% likes and 20% favorite. Must have been the double beaver bother that drags it down so much. I think the reason Crystal Caves is so low is 1. because of the beetle race 2. because of the Donkey maze 3. because you can get lost so easily 4. the annoying enemie that makes it rain stalagmites constantly until you kill him.
100% agree with the stage rankings! I definitely don't dislike any of the stages, but Gloomy Galleon and Crystal Caves were the ones I looked forward to the least & Fungi Forest was my favorite hands-down.
Crystal caves being that low was JAW dropping for me. I can't believe that. It's my second favorite to fungi forest. The soundtrack is mesmerizing and the visuals are absolutely gorgeous. The feeling that level evokes is like none other. I cannot believe people are saying that angry aztec is better, but whatever
Idk if u would ever do this but I would definitely enjoy seeing what ever ones thoughts are on all the different Golden bananas in dk64 kinda like u did with banjo kazooie and sm64's jiggies and stars respectively.
4:41 - 4:46) Funny part is that was the only part of Gloomy Galleon I like. And also, I actually like most water levels with that gimmick, mainly the Water Temple because I'm smarter than the haters, but also levels like Sonic Adventure 2's Aquatic Mine
Fungi Forest has one of the best OST, in my opinion, the world is fun with the day/night system, it’s segmented well, and has a good variety of challenging Bananas to get. I personally liked Lanky and Tiny most. Lanky was just a goofball and had good grounded attacks. And Tiny can hover, which is always fun for platforming.
For me, it's the Mini Games. The Mechanical Fish Mini Game with Diddy in Gloomy Galleon or the Nes Donkey Kong Arcade Game in Frantic Factory. Angry Aztec I think the Aztec Slide race with that beetle was just one of the reasons it ranked low. Another reason could be the way the camera pans inside the temples. For example: As Diddy, while you're trying to unlock Tiny, There is a switch you have to hit to activate a bridge. Yet, for some unexplained reason, the camera freaks out while walking on a bridge. I can't count how many times I've fallen off that bridge because the Camera keeps moving. Holding R to keep the camera fixed behind the Kong while navigating across that bridge will keep it from panning but you only have like 10 seconds to cross. I mean, I eventually got to the other side, But...There's that experience and I guess the constant backtracking. Other than that being my only bone to pick with that area, everything else is a pretty decent challenge.
Super smash, mario tennis and battletanks global assault now need this! (For battletanx, compare tanks and multiplayer courses) I would LOVE to fill out a survey for that… Also I rarely see your polls, maybe make a 30sec video with a link for the polls! Thanks bud
Nice man I really loved this video a lot it was both very interesting and fun to watch!! I would love to see you do survey videos of Banjo Kazooie, Tooie, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Kirby 64, Smash 64, Smash Melee, Sunshine, Wind Waker, Four Sword Adventures, Double Dash, Star Fox 64, Star Fox Adventures, Star Fox Assault, Ocarina of Time, Metroid Prime 1 and 2, Paper Mario 64, and Paper Mario Thousand Year Door please.
I would vote Crystal Caves as worst. It is so cramped and monochrome. Has the most repeat tasks (everyone goes in the igloo, everyone goes in the log cabin). Worst boss. I would vote Frantic Factory as best. One of the more interesting themes, no wasted space but doesn't feel cramped. My favorite music as well. I don't think there's too big a difference between the kongs for me to rank them. Though I feel Lanky and Chunky are both worse than the others simply because they both have a Beaver Bother bonus barrel in Creepy Castle that took me a zillion tries to do. However, I really liked Lanky's race with the beetle and Chunky's cart ride in the well. So I guess it's a wash.
As someone who has speedrun this game 101%, the reason Crystal Caves sucks is because of the random falling stalactites that lag the game, make your vision worse, and can knock you off platforms down into the water where you have to find your way back out unless you have the layout memorized.
i was waiting for this video! thank you so much Snooplax! it was a lot of fun doing this! i could not pick my favourite Kong, i grew up with this awesome game, so i skipped this question 😌 Banana
I commented this on your last video, I really really want to participate in the votes, but I’m also honest to the rule that I have to have played the game, so I haven’t participated. Can you choose a newer game? Like something from the Wii to current era of Nintendo? Thanks
In my frustration with beating the beetle in Crystal Caves he would bump into you and cause you to drop three banana coins my frustration left me A bit after the start of the race as I was able to attack and punch the beetle with lanky‘s arms I burst out laughing as I didn’t know I could do that but it made my day.
Yeah this is mostly what I expected. The kongs no surprise that’s exactly what order I thought they’d be in. Worlds, I’m glad my favorite world is also the fan favorite! But I am genuinely surprised Frantic Factory and Angry Aztec aren’t higher and Jungle japes is so high. The rest are just where I expected them to be.
Damn, didn't expect Tiny's score to be so... tiny! I guess I didn't have the same experience as some other people, as this was my first Donkey Kong game so I had no idea who Dixie was, let alone be let down she wasn't included
While I respect the fact that Tiny is the least favorite Kong for most people who ever played this game, I think she could've been given a score that's a little higher than 50. I would maybe give her a score of 65.3.
My recent playthrough of this game I actually loved gloomy galleon, I always remember hating it. Fungi forest is hands down the best level, followed by creepy castle
For me there are various reasons as to why I dislike gloomy galleon the boss of the level's pretty much the worst in the game. The boat first was used by donkey kong, so I did not understand why it became lanky's boss... Poor lanky never had a boss designed around his abillities. it was a water level with different levels, also a lot of action took place in those crammed shipwrecks. Also underwater you were terribly underpowered, can't beat monsters or do anything, aside from Lanky none of the kongs had a way to do anything special underwater, yet you still had to backtrack to the tag barrel to swap to collect stuff as each kong. the level theme also does confuse me a lot... there are so many random elements shoved into this world for example, there is a cactus. it also doesn't help that most of the shipwrecks look alot like the other and most of them are padded with minigame barrels... of which at least one contains a minigame that literally let's you swim around defenselesslesly to collect coins... heck, been doing that for most of the level but thanks that I can continue doing it. Most objectives in the level weren't fun either like the one where you gotta time 4 hits of his slowest and most delayed attack pretty much frame perfect. Lastly this is the largest level in the game, if you return to collect the last colored bananas for example you may find yourself swimming around, slowly searching every nook and cranny but not finding them and due to all of these and a few more reasons I dislike gloomy galleon. for short >level too big + movement too slow >kongs swim around helpless and in water all kongs play the same with lanky for some reason being the exception (enguarde), while still making you switch kongs constantly for collectibles >Boss is crap, any kong could have beaten pufftoss, why does lanky do it? and why does lanky get no real boss? (you just steer a boat through rings with a time limit that is all) >A lot of questionable design choices, mostly the level repeats pattern >mediocre minigame selection >claustrophobic shipwrecks only serve to hide a golden banana(or a minigame barrel), a few color bananas and offer nothing else. also I'm aware that you can beat most bosses with any of the kongs, pufftoss is just an insult cause the other bosses at least let you play as the kong that gets to fight the boss. and not just a boat. the only good part to this boss is that in my headcannon lanky isn't even awake during the fight and the boat beats the boss all on it's own, I find that hillarious. also I am surprised you did not include bosses in this ranking
Yah I was thinking about doing boss fights but since 2 of them repeat (Fungi and Crystal Caves) and the fact that K. Rool is so much different compared to the rest I decided against it.
@@Snooplax true, King cut out also would match the same category as the real deal, I suppose. it kinda is a shame that Lanky got shown as the "chosen" kong for the boss but both times it could have been anyone else as well.
@@mikelancerevo11 yeaa the arcades and the robot fish were quite difficult alongside a lot of other things, DK64 been somewhat of a challenge back in the day. Jetpack was among the ones I had trouble with when I played it as a kid and king Cutout. Most coin races too. gosh I sucked at videogames as a child xD

You have summed it up all pretty perfectly, why I have chosen Gloomy Galleon as my least favorite world. Although I still like Pufftoss as a boss, but you are correct, as to why Lanky Kong has no real boss to fight with his own abilities.
Yeah Gloomy Galleon was the one world I never looked forward to. It is pretty much 90% underwater and swimming underwater all the time can be a real chore. Imagine if the Kong's couldn't breathe underwater lol
It should apprear in your RU-vid Homepage or you can check the Community tab in Snooplax's channel. You can also enable notifications to receive a message when he posts videos and posts/surveys.
I guess I'm the queen of unpopular opinions then, my favorite Kong in the game was Tiny (with Lanky in second place). The others are tied for third place (there is no least favorite). And my two favorite levels are Gloomy Galleon (I've always been obsessed with lighthouses) and Creepy Castle.
Man I love Aztec (well, I love all worlds and someone need to be the least one I suppose) But Gloomy Galleon has nice references about Country series, can play with Enguard and one of the best water world in 3d platform games. I really surprise with the results
My favorite Kong and my favorite world were the least favorite XD I always found gloomy galleons music and aesthetic to be very relaxing. Also Tiny’s flying ability was so much fun!
First time I was able to participate in the poll this time around. Crystal Caves is a close second for favorite, I'm kind of disappointed it's not as well liked.
Banjo Tooie would be something I would like to see. While Banjo-Kazooie would be also fine, Banjo-Tooie has more transformations and Banjo, Kazooie and Mumbo could be own category of playable characters. I started to think while watching the ranking of worlds, both BT and DK64 would benefit of having Boss -category. For example, I don't mind Gloomy Galleon that much but the boss battle feels too awkward that I would consider Gloomy Galleon as a whole less appealing than Crystal Caves. It probably wouldn't change the outcome that much but would give one more layer to analyze a game if all non-overworlds have a boss. If I would need to think a non-Rare game, Bomberman 64 would get my vote.
