Donkey Kong Country 3 (SNES) Boss Battles 

A burping barrel, a gigantic spider, a strange waterfall slug monster, a flying war android, a deranged snowman and a freakishly big urchin.

The SNES graphics are INSANE EVEN BY TODAYS STANDARDS IT LOOKS AMAZZZZING!

I love that little victory theme at the end, it makes me feel so good and accomplished. 😇

I love that the bosses in this game are mostly their own things - they're not just regular enemies that have been made bigger. The only exception would be Barbos, but her boss fight is unique and complicated enough to be given a pass. And sure, Belcha is based on something we've already seen plenty of times - barrels. But I actually find that to be quite interesting. Rather than make the boss based on one of the enemies you've known to beat up, make it based on something you thought would never do you wrong. This is in contrast to the previous games, which mostly had bosses that were either reused, or derived from one of the regular enemies (Queen B and King Zing in particular are just bigger Zinger sprites). Kleever was pretty unique though.

It freaked me out as a kid how Belcha's eyes follow the Kongs. You can see this most clearly when you jump up and bump him in the face.

Belcha and Squirt were nightmare fuel.

Of all of the Donkey Kong games, this one is definitely my favorite. This game is very fun, and the graphics are incredible for a Super Nintendo game. Sure this game can get long: you need to find all of the bonus coins, DK coins, and banana birds in order to get to the boss in the bonus world, but that makes this game fun, and ensures that you have to look extra hard to find all those bonus levels!

So let me get this straight: To beat Barbos, you have to strip its protection and penetrate it when its soft spot spreads open using your sword...

I was absolutely TERRIFIED by those bosses when I was a kid. The spider, the burping barrel, the waterfall.. I mean, WTF? Compared to the bosses in the first two games the ones in DKC3 were pretty... out of place and weird. Still think they are awesome though.

I recall being kinda scared of these bosses when I was a kid. They're just so friggin' intimidating for a kids' game.

As a whole, I prefer DKC3 over DKC2. It was definitely the most memorable of the series with its weird, yet inspiring bosses that weren't just bigger versions, palette swaps, or ghost versions of past enemies as well as its compelling music and level design. inb4 the DKC2 fanboys beat the shit out of me

I was able to take everything as a little kid, but the one thing that scared me half to death about this game & still does to this day, is the scream Kiddy does when he gets hurt. I have chills thinking about it xD

I remember Barbos as the most annoying boss. First time I played I was like ''how are you supposed to hit that? how the hell can I win this?'' then my cousin showed how Barbos was supposed to complete. God, I remember being amazed and yelling ''no way! this has three phases!?!'' :D

The boss battle with the damn Elephant, god I never played the SNES version of DK3 but on the GBA I didn't know what to do and I swear I was stuck on that one for like a month for not knowing what to do.

The one with the face and the waterfall is a large rock snail named Squirt.

The first time i saw this game- or any dk game, at that- was the battle against KAOS round one.

A masterpiece. I remember playing this when I was little. I personally think this game might be superior to DKC1 (however the music and nostalgia trip I get from the first is far greater than this one).

yes, well for one it's odd they had challenging bosses for two but then go back to easy, this looks like a step in the opposite direction after the found a good formula. second i liked how in donkey kong 2 they were actually scared of the boss instead of just saying "ya okay"

Belcha was a freaking pushover, Arich scared me because I had a fear of spiders, but he was easy too, and whatever Squirt was supposed to be wasn't too bad either - but after that the battles got a little tricky. Took me forever to get by Barbos, I wasn't a good swimmer.

wow, as soon as I saw the waterfall/slug boss, I thought it resembled some bosses in the wizards and warriors games on the NES, more specifically Ironsword. Then it dawned on me those games were also made by Rare. Was this a throwback? hmmm

Would you be referring to the bosses from previous Donkey Kong Country games? I haven't played Donkey Kong Country 2, but I found most of the bosses in the first game very easy.
