What if Donna got behind the wheel and hurt someone or even killed someone? The fact that Brandon even said this punishment should be reserved for those who cause trouble is ridiculous.
I had older siblings and was 5-10 when this show was really popular. I remember calling it "the high school with thirty year olds...and one forty year old (Andrea)" Looking at it now, young me was spot on! How did anybody think Andrea was in high school? The woman looks older than me here and I'm in my late 30s.
They were in their mid 20s most of the actors but they look old because of the style back then just made people look older - the clothes, the hair, the makeup - it all just made people look older than they actually were unlike nowadays
Super cute how they did the show where so many people showed up to support her graduating with her class. But in reality I bet you less than the eight friends would even show up to risk their graduation just for one person. I do not think Andrea or Brandon would have risked their academic features for one person in real life. But this is one reason why I like TV shows❤
rewatching this storyline as an adult just makes me shake my head. if this happened today, no way the student would've gotten a pass and donna got a pass. she shouldn't have been allowed to graduate. donna knew the rules, she broke the rules and she should've dealt w/the consequences of her actions. they kept making it seem like donna only had 1 drink. that it was so innocent. that it was just an accident. the girl was drinking and had more in the limo on the way to prom. steve encouraged them having more, acting like it wasn't a big deal. donna was actually concerned but didn't think, oh, maybe she shouldn't have more to drink. david surely didn't stop her. by the time they got to prom, she couldn't even stand on the dance floor or walk, then collapses in front of the vp. like, it was just a night of bad decision making. but it is a show and they gotta create some kind of drama for another privileged beverly hills character. so no, i'm not a fan of this donna martin graduates storyline. 😒
I'd have cancelled commencement that year, sent all those self entitled brats to summer school, mailed them their diplomas and best of luck getting done in time to start at a four year college or even getting into one with that kind of smug, self entitled behavior on their school record.
my town was so over crowded that we had to have two middles schools and had to go on color track system and we had a new middle school which housed 7th through 9th grade. we had no gangs and the priniciple of the older middle school who came from LA had implemented that anyone wearing green red or blue or had baggy pants were gang related and wanted us to have see through back packs. Because of the gang volence that he was sure everyone was in so we decided after seeing this on tv us being fresh men. decided to do a demostration. We walked out 8th and 9th grade right during a finals test was half a day. We also had a walk out because we have a dance for the beginning of each year two days before school let out and year and welcome back dance the week before school. Because some of the kids wore those colors they were taking that away from us. Needless to say we won. This clip shows what kind of power students can have if they work together. we now have less kids two middles one in town and one on the other side. But, are now 6th to 8th grade and high school being a normal 9th to 11th grade.
You can tell Felice is already thinking up ways to lure Ephardt to the Bel-Age Hotel. “Harder George, harder. Let’s cancel summer vacation, let’s slash the budget on extracurricular programs and remove all the vending machines ohmygod oh yes oh yes!!”
...why didn't they make that Elayne Boosler chick the Head of the council!? ...She's cool as HELL! "...yea-, I'd just like ta sayyy....." (3:12) ...ha-HAAA!!
The perfect example of how all of students, faculty, alumni, the entire fan base of #TheUniversityOfMichigan should rise and stand up to the negative professionalism condoned by #PaulFinebaum! 😠😤😡
In real life, the police would be called on everybody and people dragged off to jail. Might even have some police brutality. And no, there wouldn't be this big protest over somebody not being allowed to walk.
Sorry but this is bullshit. She was caught drinking at a school event that is strictly prohibited. She knew the punishment and did it anyway. If Donna got hurt or hurt someone else on an inebriated state at the prom, that would be some lawsuit. What if she got behind the wheel of a car. I will say not graduating is kind of severe but if that’s the rule, don’t drink on prom night.
