Donna! I’m loving your journey, even though at times, it reminds me of ‘Ozzie and Harriet’ In fact, after living in Inglewood, Ca for 34 years, I believe a lot of our friends from Portland had a unique childhood…one that developed an exceptional person like YOU. The problem with growing up in Portland, no one with power ever SAW us, Jet magazine and the like never paid attention to Oregon, “I didn’t know black folks lived in Oregon “ I am glad you returned with your knowledge of the world to share with the community. As Beverly Johnson (Edmundson) once told me, Portland had no people we could aspire to be, or look up to… However, in hind sight, we did alright by building on the foundations of our parents, those who had courage to move to Oregon. By the way, Beverly Johnson Edmondson (also a graduate of Jefferson High School) was on the Cover of Jet magazine AND was Miss Bronze California (disclaimer, if not exact!) ….ok, I’m done! You are wonderful, you should have been discovered years ago
