One of the greatest tracks ever, never mind for disco. This was so ahead of its time! What a classic and absolutely timeless. Loving the moves Angela!😘
An era where singers let their talent shine and speak for them. They didn’t need the Internet to promote them, make them popular. Their talent did that for them.Donna was breaking records and crossing boundaries, she wasn’t looking for any adulation. That is why. Donna so special.
The impact of 'I Feel Love' - a gorgeous, gleaming spaceship of a track - on dance music is incalculable. Thanks to Giorgio Moroder's throbbing, pulsating synthesizers and Summer's sensual epic-orgasmic vocal, "I Feel Love" claims tomorrow in the name of disco.
Always my favorite Donna Summer song, mainly due to that haunting chorus and how she sings it. Yeah - "operatic" is good way to describe her vocals here.
This track was jaw dropping for its time and that 'techno' sound was imitated for decades after. Mesmerizing musically and, of course, Donna's magical voice is the cherry on top. :)
@@johngardner4096 After winning the oscar for best soundtrack to the movie Midnight Express, Giorgio Moroder composed this song to which Donna Summer was hired to sing giving her and his status on the club scene a much higher scope and range. Pete Belotte who wrote the lyrics thought of only one person who could sing this timeless track and her name was Donna Summer. Gloria Gaynor was thought of first, but Donna's ability to belt out notes on both high and low range was the obvious choice for both Moroder and Belotte. This is why most disco songs back then were so incredibly complex.
Best chair dancing with the prettiest smile on the Web. Great song choice. The Blue Man Group HAMMERED this in a live performance. (Blue Man Group I Feel Love here on RU-vid)
In the 60's & 70's it was necessary to edit certain songs running times to fit radio programmers daily play lists (The House Of The Rising Sun comes to mind). Around 1978 saw the birth of the dance mix and the inverse happened. Songs were lengthened considerably for the burgeoning Disco scenes around the world. Ms. Summers 'I Feel Love' was one such song. I loved when it was released. Both radio and dance mixes. Terrific reaction, RNB
She was awesome. Try her cover of “Someone to Watch Over Me” live at her VH1 Special. She belts it out as good as anyone could have. A greatly missed artist for sure!
I cant tell you how important this song was ,synth all the way through ,and a taste of the future,Donna ,way ahead of her time.No one had heard anything like it,and one of the most imprtant songs of all time .
I tell this story all the time, but I was two years old when this song came out (nearly 3), and even at that young age, I knew that what I was hearing was different than anything else I had heard up to that point. I was obsessed with the song and would sing it all the time-I can remember doing it. This song is definitely why I grew up loving electronic music and still love it to this day at nearly 48 years old.
This was one of her collaborations with synthesizer pioneer and wizard Giorgio Moroder. Moroder did a number of film soundtracks including Scarface from 1983 with Al Pacino.
This song is timeless. Feels just as modern today as it did back in the 70's. The album "I remember Yesterday" is one of my Donna Summer favorites. Not a bad track from front to back.
I used this song to test car stereo/speaker combinations back in the day. I wired up car stereo displays for department stores that customers could test out equipment combinations before they bought them. Was an enjoyable job while on summer break.
From the summer of 1977. Groundbreaking and hypnotic sound created by Donna Summer's vocals and Georgio Moroder's synth. First time i heard this i remember i was with my dad and it was such a hot day that i could see the heat shimmering up ahead on the road. I love that you are lost in the rhythm of this. x
This was Donna Summer's big break through song that led us deeper into the disco era. Giorgio Moroder was the music specialist who provided the alien techno sound while Donna Summer belted out her angelic voice on a whole new level. After winning the Academy Award for best soundtrack in the movie Midnight Express, Moroder requested Gloria Gaynor first for the song, but when she couldn't hit the high notes like he wanted, he had heard about Donna's unique voice and offered her a chance to sing I feel love. It was an instant hit the year it came out. It went to number one for weeks and propelled Donna's career even further. Since then, before her untimely death Donna went on to become known as the queen of disco right through the eighties and nineties. Many up and coming female vocalists often listened to Donna's songs during her solo career which helped them exercise their vocal ranges. Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Paula Abdul, Irene Cara and many more payed tribute to Donna as their beacon to stardom. Giorgio Moroder went on to create more albums with various other singers but none were as successful like it was when he chose Donna Summer.
You need to react to, this time I know it's for real, by Donna summer, I'm 💯 percent sure you'll really like it great song by her, the biggest sin was her being labeled the queen of disco, she was so much more then that, incredible talent
Without a doubt an incredible singer i love all her music i still remember hearing this first time on the radio 92WKTU BROOKLYN NY, I was like; what is this?! Definitely one of her greatest songs 🔥
Giorgio Moroder is the genius behind the synth music, and of course Donna's silky, sexy vocals put it over the top. A disco classic that really broke a lot of molds.
I've been waiting a long time for u to do this one. Wish u would have done one with video of Donna singing it . It adds a whole different level to the song but I'm just glad u finally did it. The song definitely takes u on a journey.just another example of Donna's magic! Hope one of your patreons request This Time I Know It's For Real. It has a great video and shows u the older Donna got the better she got! Amazing
To this day Donna Summer doesn't get the credit she truly deserves. Together with her producer and co-writer Giorgio Moroder she virtually invented modern EDM. The music that surrounds us all today- and this was back in1977!
I remember reading an article in a magazine that included a quote from David Bowie, who said that when he heard this song he heard the future. Or something along those lines. If you haven't already HOT STUFF and BAD GIRLS are waiting in Donna Summer's catalog for you to react to. A just to throw in a suggestion for a reaction, Baby Face has great dance number called IT'S NO CRIME. Enjoy.
I was 18 when this came out and it literally blew me away. None of us had ever heard this sound before. It went to number one in the U.K. in 1977. I remember trying to dance to the faster beat in discos at the time and getting worn out after a couple of minutes! A totally new sound that holds up today.
Absolutely ground-breaking in its day. Not dissimilar to Blue Monday by New Order which is definitely also worth checking out if you don't know it. Also has that electro..disco..techno vibe.
Love your " Donna" type moves as you're listening to this... You'd love her cover of Barry Manilow's..Could This Magic..she takes to a whole new level..the full version is Prelude to Love/Could This Be Magic..she knocks it out of park ! ❤!
This sound was way ahead of its time. A lot of bands started created music like this about five years later. Listen to “Planet Earth” by Duran Duran. It’s literally this same song.
Giorgio Moroder genius and Donna Summer vocals are groundbreaking. It's probably in the top 5 of influential songs. Amazing leap forward in music. No doubt!
Loving watching your reactions. I think guys, especially these days, don't understand how romantic ladies are. My era that you have been watching was flooded with love songs. Love the journey you are on. So heres a few to really keep you busy that I know you will love. Love the bee gees. They wrote a song for Celine Dion called immortality. Their vocals in that were awesome. Also check out some Kenny Loggins songs for a change of pace. Footloose to start. Finally dip your toes more into the R&B portion of the 80's to 90's. Best love songs. Start with Babyface. He first started out with the group called The Deele. So check out "Two Occasions". Then when on his own go to Whip Appeal. He also does some awesome songs with others. Toni Braxton is one. Tidbit too, he had two brothers that were awesome that sang in a group called After 7. Hope to see that beautiful smile check these out to start. You will thank me later. ;-) Have a ton more to follow. Happy 4th of July weekend!
Since you are in the DISCO years here, you have to check out Gloria Gaynor's "I will Survive" ... one of the most played songs of the 70's, 80's 90's and early 2000.
I'd call this the definitive version. There's an eight-minute 12" version but it's a really basic re-edit - it literally just repeats the last three minutes exactly the same as before.
Hey there! Just found you and love your reactions.... You really need to check out Home Free next, they are a country a cappella group. Man of Constant Sorrow should be your first try and that rabbit hole is deep....
